Nice day here today.  Showers in the morning, sunny and low 70's in the evening.

Hummer - isn't the military version still built by AM General in South Bend?

DougDG - bidding on e-bay is a funny thing.  Took me about a year of trying to finally get a rocket fuel tank car that I liked at the price I liked.  Sometimes there would be a bunch of them up for bid, other times one or two.  Prices went totaly nuts a couple of times too.  Just keep trying.

Buckeye - prayers for your friend.

Chief - neat video.  I was snow delayed in the Newark airport some years back.  One of the passengers was a violinist.  Pulled out his violin and played for a little while.  Seemed to calm people down.

Airshow at Whiteman AFB this weekend.  My wife asked if we should go!?  The other choice is the Scott Joplin Ragtime festival downtown.

Later, all.

Oh Man, where's Jack with the cliff notes version of the Pot?  A couple of things come to mind, will pray for Tom.  Jon, do a search for "SunFest" which is held in West Palm Beach FL.  They had this years a few weeks ago.  It is a top billed festival worth the trip.  Since FL is a great destination, you may want to keep that in mind for next year.

Roy, thanks for the heads up.  I'll tell my friends in Te-Has to keep off the sidewalksLaugh

Pat, actually, some studies have shown females to be more attentive and nurturing and so they can be better physicians.  (Have to go back and read them, the authors may have all been females).  Anyway, it is individuals and if you find one that works for you, by all means, go for it.

Well, it is late and have to get to bed as I have a full day of it and a early start.  Had an emergency to keep me going this afternoon.  Worse part about it is that I am not on call, but had to do the case as it was the new guy on call.  Oh well.

God Bless,
Dennis

Buckeye Riveter

As many of you know who have frequented this coffee pot for the last year, I have a good friend with cancer.  It started in the colon and has now spread to several other areas of his body.  Last night, he lost all movement in his arms and legs.  He cannot speak.  Hospice is working with him and the family.

Prayers are appreciated for my buddy Tom.

My prayers are with you. I lost my Dad to cancer last June. 59 years old. Just tonight I signed up to be on the Relay for Life team that his former employer has. With everything I have been through I am glad I have not had to deal with that! Just be there for your friend and his family over the next few days. Make sure he knows how much he means to you.

Again, my thoughts are with your friend and also yourself.

Buckeye, I hope the best for Tom...

Lionroar, keep jumping hurdles...

Well, I'm glad it rained most of the day today.  Gave me an excuse to do some inside work instead of deck work.  I put together half of my layout benchwork.  Other half will come in due time (quick, someone do a raindance).  Then the real fun begins...

Have a great rest of the day!

Good Evening

Cool and low 60s today, sure beats having snow but not June temps at all. A slow lazy day here, I did next to nothing. Our Daughter came by with the boys, we visited, granny took the boys to the school to play. I will be checking the chat line soon, never sure who might show up. Banilla is ready for the Tardis ride so Brutus fire it up...S.J.

Welcome Ken..Sign - Welcome ..Yes, many of us have become friends over the years.  I have been on here for five years and I have met several of these guys in person and I have talked with several on the phone, too.   I have ran trains at several of their houses.  (You should see some of the locomotives and  layouts.  Wow!!

Don...How can someone in the business have so many computer problems?  If it was the Chief with the problems, it would make sense.

Bill T......Didn't I see you at the 2001 Rose Bowl?

Jon.....When was the last year the Cubs didn't choke?  They always choke.

Chuck....Make a note to hold back more rain from Roseyville.

Rich....It is 55 degrees in beautiful Ohio.  Cool refreshing breeze flowing through the window.

Dennis....Why do you need to spray the house? Just put grits along the perimeter of the foundation.  Critters will dare not invade your house if they need to wade through grits.

cnw1995

Kurt, hope to mail the Carolina car to you tomorrow or Fri morn.

That means it is getting closer to OHIO!!! Mischief Evil Dead Pirate

Bill T....I used to go to Davis Trains and just thought it was a small piece of heaven. I talked trains with Mr. Davis several times.  Great guy!

Roy.....In the next few months your expected lifespan will be decreased due to fear.

DJ Spanky....My condolences.

Jon....Did you ever get that box out of the ditch after it fell off of your motorcycle today?

DougdaGrump....I'll stop bidding for a week and see if you have better luck.

fifedog......I would hate taking Carnival for a ride in my boat.

Wes....See you Friday to pick up the car.  Just a month until we see the "special" car from Roseyville.

Mmmmm........Chief's been very quiet.  I bet he is up to no good wherever he is tonight.

Evenin' boys.  Evenin' English.  Oldest princess walked across the stage last night.  Party this weekend.

Until further notice, anyone feeling compelled to finger pull should see sir james.  (He's my right hand- ERR - finger man)

Chief - Wifey loved Do-re-mi video. Thumbs Up

A little drama on the high seas this past Saturday.  Spent 6 hours out on the bay (pretty breezy), and when I went to fire up the inboard diesel "SNAP", the YANMAR  key broke in the ignition.  No one paniced and I was able to hotwire the engine in 10 minutes...which was good, because the pretty Carnival cruise ship was bearing down on us as it left B'more.

Afternoon All !

Crazy day here, got some thunder bumpers rolling thru intermittently. Thought the better half would have to pull me off the ceiling one time, one of those times you see the flash and hear the thunder at the same time. Worst part is little to no rain with them so kinda worrisome about dry lightning = fire.

Best part of my youth was spent on a small farm in Ky, no livestock, just a bunch of veggies and some fruit trees. Spend a lot of time working the fields using a hoe and you will quickly learn the true origins of the term "redneck" . Once a "Hillbilly" always a "Hillbilly", maybe thats why I take my shoes off as soon as walk in the door.

Been gettin' skunked on the Bay, trying to get some of the scale flats so I can get the military loads finished. The PS-4's have been going for very hi prices, Sigh , and the Weaver 50's just aren't showing up. Sad

Rich-- You will be pleased that your slurry tank car (car exchange program) went for a motorcycle ride this afternoon! We boxed up the car to be sent to Doug last night so since today is absolutely drop dead gorgeous AND the fact that I hadn't ridden in a week I decided to take the box to the far post office (7 miles) instead of the close post office (1 mile) and we did just fine :) I'll bet this is the first time that box went down the road at 75 MPH on a motorcycle, the ride was wonderful, life is good.

I've tried watching Connan and I'm struggling to like him but then I've always enjoyed Dave and his smart aleck attitude.

Max Weinberg is a fantastic drummer and his band is HOT, with that being said, the role of a drummer is that of being the time keeper along with the bass player.  Max's band, by design, will feature him 99% of the time and I do think that's what folks like.

Now let's step back a few years.  Ed Shaughnessy (Doc's drummer), IMO, was incredible with the Tonight Show Band, that band has so much talent it was unbelievable.  Here's a clip of two of the finest set players ever, enjoy.

Pat, we never had a farm but my folks were from farming backgrounds and we always had vegetable gardens when I was growing up.  My Dad raised chickens and rabbits too for a while.  In addition we used to catch lots of fish in the Chesapeake Bay years ago so we always had food on the table.  We canned things for the winter and later on Dad got a deep freezer to hold some of the vegetables and meat.  It does make you more self sufficient to do all those things.  Living in the city now in California, we are at the mercy of the super markets etc.  No room here for a garden and soil is poor anyway.  Some friends nearby do grow squash, tomatos and a few things like that though.

Good to hear from others on the "Pot" that have a history of enjoying getting there hands dirty.Big Smile

Our childhoods are similar. We raised chickens and rabbits and my dad was one of the first in our area to actually can in cans. Our fish came from farmers ponds and the Missouri River. Dad had a very large crock, maybe 50 Gal., he used to make dill pickles.

I still enjoy raising rabbits and have done so off and on all my life. There is no better liver than rabbit liver!Dinner

Steve W.
he stunk again

Yes, I thought

so too.  They are loading up the first few days with big name celebreties like Tom Hanks last night but what is Conan going to do when they run out of big names?  Max the drummer seems OK but I don't care for the drum being the main event in a band.  He seems to overpower everybody else and I suppose it's by design so that the spot light is on him.

Welcome to all the new folks.  Lots of interesting stuff to read and takes a while to digest.

Chief:  Thanks for the video.  I enjoyed it.

Ken, hope your medical situation will be better now.  I thought I had problems but you are an inspiration.

Steve...It may be a fuel pump.  Make sure the techs there are ASE certified and check with the BBB.

I had a customer that had the same problem was ok cold, but no start when hot.  If there is excessive noise coming from the fuel tank, that's probably what it is.

Waiting on the FREE LUNCH presented by one of our lenders....and I'm hungary!

Very warm now upper 80's.  have to check on the work out back.

Pat .... don't forget this old past farm boy ! No not one at the present .. not my choice the wife's ... miss it bad everytime I ride by the farms in this area I kick myself for not being on the seat of an Allis Chalmers ... not almost heaven ... it is heaven . You are luckier than you think ! Our farm in maryland was the first to plant and experiment with soy beans ... way back when ... the federal boys gave us all the seeds and all we had to do was report useage and results ... they sure did make the cattle healthier and their coat/hair shine .

Banks ... great to hear the wonderful news !

Brutus .. you have to keep an eye on those prescribed meds the docs give her ... I check them on web-md everytime they change mine and have had to tell the docs they conflict ... remember they had me on meds that were wrong and messed me up big time for over 7 months ! As with you all it took was a young new female doc 5 minutes to see the problem ... of course sometimes I think the VA just runs us through like cattle ... if it works fine ... if it does'nt ... just one more old vet dropping dead ... LOL .

Sorry Ole Timer. I did forget we have chatted several times about your early days farming. I like to say "I have a good memory, It is just short".Banged Head

We have found the young new female Veterinarians more knowledgeable and caring and do a much better job then the male Vets, especially the older male Vets who seem to resent the female Vets.

Good Morning.

Nice day up here in New England. 60 degrees sun is peaking through might hit 70 later today, its been cool for this time of year. Taking the Amtrak Downeaster (runs from Portland, Maine to Boston- through NH) this weekend to Boston. Its a nice ride, and fairly quick about 1 hour each way to Boston. Beats driving on Rt 95 and dealing with traffic and parking  and the cost of parking in beantown is about the same as a roudtrip ticket on the train.

Morning all!

Work still has me in overload here. Cloudy, warm, and a bit rainy here - it's all good - lakes are filling up.

Doug - just 2 more days and it appears my daughter is gonna make it to graduating! Woo-hoo!

The big event is Monday night, June 8th! Gonne keep the ol' fingers crossed!

On the down side my son will be taking the test for his learners permit today. Does the term "hell on wheels" mean anything?

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Ken,

        Sign - Welcome

Steve,

Have you figured out what is wrong with youur Santa Fe yet?

Chief,

I changed my handle because I was worried that my old one made it too easy for someone to find me if my name and location got into the wrong hands.  Did you ever watch The Wonder Years? Wayne drove a beat up yellow Corvair convertible later in the series.

Ole Timer,

I got that update last night.  It freed up about 23GB on the hard drive.Thumbs Up  I also noticed that Windows Media Player was highlighted in the program list, so they must have made some changes to it.
