Rich--hope you can get some miles in this weekend on the HD.  We've had gorgeous weather all week, a bit windy at times but now the forecast is calling for 50% chance of showers for Sat. & Mon., ugh.  I was hoping to be on the road as I know the boss has already mentioned several projects around here, I didn't use to dread 3 day weekends but now.............. she keeps talking about retiring in two years Question

I keep hearing from my HD friends that there are some excellent deals out there, if I could buy one more bike it would either be a Goldwing or BMW GS1200 but that would mean I'd need a new wife, nah--not worth it, can't imagine trying to break in another one after being with this one for almost 37 years Black Eye  She's a KEEPER Thumbs Up

Ditto for me as far as the Blue Angels show is concerned. I haven't driven to Pensacola since the late 60's. It is one fer piece!!!! Used to go through on the old SCL-L&N Gulf Wind and two or three times on Amtrak's Sunset Limited.

Good Morning,

Raining again here in south Florida and we need the rain!

Been busy with work this past week and have not had much chance to get on here. Have to check my air conditioning as it feels hot in here, upstairs at the comp.

May run some trains this weekend if I get time.

Went to see the new Star Trek movie, seems like Steven Speilberg wrote or directed this one, very action packed and a very, very evil villan. It is unlike any other Star Trek movie.

Morning all. Waiting for a new water pump for the car. Looks like family issues  may be reclaiming some of my layout space for storage. Oh well, I'll look on it as an opportunity to be creative.... That MG sure looked great, Jon.  Bob, yes, that photo was credited to Harvey - it's all over the Web. I love star-gazing...too much light here these days...

Dennis,

I'll most likely not make that trip - it's like 7 hours for me...and I may be selling stuff at the train show in Deland that day.  The Angels usually come here in October, and I haven't seen them since th '90's, work always has something scheduled..go figure.

Fifey ... don't get too upset ... I bought my boys a daisy bb gun years ago for nostalgia reasons ... since I had one when I was a kid ... well .. they went across the road to the neighbor's house and decided to shoot at our maple tree in the front yard ... TOOK OUT MY BAY WINDOW !!!  Then about a month later was downstairs and blew the glass out of the patio door ... I did'nt know if a bb hits that glass it starts a chain reaction of shattering and the whole darn thing fell in 100's of tiny chunks . you would'nt believe what my insurance man said to do to them with that bb gun ... LOL .

SJ ... is there really a good day to cut grass ... lol ? I hate it ... over and over again . I could have taken a weekend trip for the gas I've had to use to cut that lousey grass this year . Everyone please be careful out here ... alot of intoxicated drivers will be coming at you !

Dwiemer ... good call on that rock ... was mowing with an old gravely ... kids had a chunk of brick in a high grass area for a base in a wiffle ball game .. that darn gravely slung that thing instead of busting it ... watched it in slow motion as my brain saw it ... cruise through the air ... across the street ... through my neighbor's car back window ... to the windshield taking it out also heading for his patio door !  I had to knock on his door and tell him ... he's twice my size ... huge ole mountain boy ... thought it may have been my last days on earth ... lol . Fifey ... things crazy like that do happen .

Rich and Mel, they are having the Bue Angel's Air Show in Pensacola on July 11th.  I am planning on taking the family down for that.  Are you guys interested?

Fife, before the punishment begins, is it possible an errant rock while mowing the lawn could have caused the damage?  If not, have at it.....Just don't want the kid hurt if he didn't do it.

Well, they called me just now to let me know that they need me to do a case on Monday.  I am on call, so that kills the 3 day weekend.  Oh well, it could always get worse.  Hope to get plenty of layout work done this weekend.  Most importantly though is to take time and remember and thank the Vets.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 65 degrees. Going up to 83 today with some sunshine.

Today is the usual chores around the house. We don't have any plans for this weekend. Wife is still a little sick from the flu. It's hanging on too long. It has been quiet around here.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

Buckeye.....TGIF

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good Morning

Sunny and cooler this AM, going to 75. A good grass cutting day. And that is my entire schedule so a little room to be flexible here. I'll say TGIF for the working folks but that also means another week is gone forever....S.J.

NOT a good start to my holiday weekend.  Was just outside spraying for ants, when I noticed one of my glass block windows had an impact web crack.  Someone had to use a little effort to create it.  Possibly an aluminum bat...possibly a 14-year-old-gonna-be-hard-to-sit-for-the-next-several-days boy...Banged Head

A HAPPY TGIF boys,

The rain has stopped for now, very cloudy and breezy, which is a lot better than rain and windy fur shur!  Up to 75F later in the day.

Had dinner with the Train Works folks last night and had ribs (at Chili’s), was a fun time.  I’ll be leaving work at noon to go get the remnants.  2 of the layouts were sold to the local museum, at least Dave’s handiwork will be on display for years to come.  The HO & N scales are being disassembled now.  I have the trackage from the O scale set up and it’s all Atlas.  May do something with that for me.  I have some work to do here at the real job, may make a detour to the HD shop to see if bike prices have changed and possibly upgrade if the used bike prices are right.  The $1000 gift card may help on that deal.

Looking forward to a long weekend, if it clears, a little 2 wheel action may happen and the cleaning of the garage, as well as looking for an apartment as the mortgage thing has fallen through again....something else the bank didn’t like reappeared and looks like I have 3-5 more months of gathering papers and proving the credit people wrong again.....oh, well, such is life.

Jon, you mentioned Vero Beach...my Aunt & Uncle live there on 34th & Route 60.  Nice place.

Brutus & Chief -   Angel   for the brides!

I’ll check in later

The MGA is a 1960 and in great shape.  It belongs to the folks we stayed with in Vero Beach, it was very similar to a '61 he had in high school.  It's really in good shape as it stays in his garage except when we show up :)  I honestly don't think he goes through a tank of gas in a year, the hardest part for me was getting in the car!  I'm 6'2" and when I was in the passenger seat I barely had room for my knees and closing the door was an experience.  I've been on many motorcycles with more room!  The fun part was driving it and getting lots of waves of admiration.

Good Evening/Morning all

Patrick - A lot of mowing is going on around here, may be a three cut season.

From another thread there must be an interesting editorial in th CTT about Flyer guys.  Like Chief says, ignore, ignore, ignore.  I can't judge because I don't have my issue yet.  Plenty of room for lots of opinions.

May God bless

Jim

Looks like a three cut here in VA as well, a four cut for alfalfa.

I read the Flyer guys thread and came away irritated. I haven't received my CTT copy yet ether.

So much nicer on this thread. I agree with Spank when he said in that other thread "there are just far more important things in life to get this upset about". Sorry Chief - I should have ignored, ignored, ingnored.

Morning All.....Another nice day here in the Great Garden State. Daughter only made it through a couple hours of school yesterday before they sent her home. That means she missed her band concert last night and a test in the afternoon. The nurse is a real nervous nelly type and over reacts to everything. The kid has a head cold or at worse a touch of the flu but now she has to go to the Dr. to get a note  in order to go back. Shes upset about the concert and worries about her GPA. I know that when she wakes up today she will feel fine and it will have passed and we'll be stuck schleping out to buy a $300.00 note.Banged Head  Hope to get the pool opened this weekend. We didn't openit last year cause of lack of money but I don't want to leave it closed two years in a row.  All have a good day..Steve

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Did weights at the YMCA and mowed the yard last night.  Got done around 9 PM.  Loving the DST!  Looks like a chance for rain on race day :-(   Guess I will be looking for that "window over Terre Haute"....again.  Busy days at work.  Got another invite to the high school graduation from one of "my" soccer girls :-)   Got my team roster for the summer soccer league.  Beacon is lit and I can drive.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

 Morning to All,

I made a fresh pot to start the morning. Looking forward to the three day weekend.  Have tickets to see Garrison Keillor on Saturday night so it should be fun. The tickets were Mothers Day/Father's Day presents for the Mrs. and me from our son. It is sure nice that he is on his own and has a JOB. Hope to relax Sunday and Monday.

Jon - The MGA is one of my all-time favorite British cars. If I came into $$$ I might have to look for one of those.  I miss having a ragtop on beautiful nights.  Of course,  I don't miss the leaks and cold in the winter Smile,Wink, & Grin.

Brutus & Chief  - prayers for your spouses.  You know what they say - If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.  Well when Mama is sick, everybody suffers.

Buckeye - You really set the bar high for us.  I guess there will be no more date nights at Mickey D's or the Club BK.  I love Amish style cooking.

Well, work is calling.  Hopefully the natives won't be too restless today. We have been having the worst time with two first grade girls who keep being mean to other kids, pinching, smacking and hitting the other kids.  I hate to suspend first graders, but I might have to do it. We are getting no support from home in either of these cases.

Take care,

Mitch

Good early morning Y'all!  Hope everyone is having a good day so far.  Could not sleep, so I got up and loaded the Nikon programs on the computor.  Will be loading Photoshop Elements 7.0 when it arrives in the next day or so.

Not much to report.  Hope to check back later.

Slept a good part of the day after coming off the mountain to switch over the sleep schedule (I work 4PM - 4AM) and just went thru a few pages of posts. Enough that I had to take notes!

Kurt - the MGB has a 1798 engine w/ the dual SU carbs. I rebuilt the carbs back in the early process of trying to get it thru emissions. They were in decent shape, but got new jets and the like. The vacuum system controlling the needles makes for one of the smoothest throttle responses I've ever seen on a carburated vehicle. I have yet to spend much time sync'ing them and managed to avoid duals during my VW days. Between the MG and the covair van I think I'm about to make up for it. I pick up the camshaft and other "bits" tomorrow.

Ole Timer - the TD and TC are among my favorite cars. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one. Even the kits are expensive. The MGB-GT has been described as the poor man's Aston Martin. But it has the look and is fairly easy and relatively inexpensive to get parts for. It also has the lovely hardtop, doors, and roll up windows that the current regular ride (Jeep Wrangler) does not. And Jon, the skyblue MGA is very nice.

Mike and Chief - Nice to hear of other corvair fans out there. Most people just kind of look at me funny. Another pair of hands is always welcome if your are in the neighborhoodBig Smile. The van isn't going to get the full treatment yet. Mainly something to use when I'm working on various projects for myself and friends and maybe use as a camper. I wish it was running now as I just found out at church tonight that I may be needed to replace the cooler on the parish house. Our current interim priest just left and we are making a mad scramble to find another.

cnw1995 - you found the classic picture of the SMT. That photo was taken by Dave Harvey while I was at the scope a few years back. I remember him running out to end the exposure when one of our ploice officers radioed for clearance up the road. I don't imagine they are doing to much tonight, as it was raining like a cow urinating on a flat rock here earlier. Unusual for May here, but we'll take it here in the desert and especially on the mountain right before Memorial Day.

Buckeye Riveter - the bodies may be a Write-Pat but I used to live 2 hours north of Area 51 which is where they took the spaceship. The Hiko cutoff was known as the Alien Highway and the gas station I filled up the pickup in had all kinds of strange stuff for sale. Never saw much in the way of aliens, but once some very bright, cobalt blue meteorites going over the truck one night. Air Force must have been playing w/ something.

Well the caboose came today so I finally have a full train, if you can call one car and a caboose a full train. It's a very basic model from the 80's, but was new and one of my favorite roads - Santa Fe. Does the BLT number on the side indicate when built? I noticed the same on the side of the submarine flatcar.  This trip down I will finally set up an oval of track. Maybe when Tony the postman comes by to visit.

Good Evening/Morning all

Another beautiful day in Southern Ohio, sunny breezy, and I slept through most of it!  Gotta love night shift!  Oh well.  Someone has to keep the lights on.

Frank - I will take tips from you on how to woo our brides!

Patrick - A lot of mowing is going on around here, may be a three cut season.

Not much on the train front.  Train budget is at $0.00 after the rocket car and rocket launcher.  I am anxious to get them and share some pics with you guys.

From another thread there must be an interesting editorial in th CTT about Flyer guys.  Like Chief says, ignore, ignore, ignore.  I can't judge because I don't have my issue yet.  Plenty of room for lots of opinions.

Well, better go check on th guys, on a tight schedule.

Fine day about 80 here today.  Going to Hobart to visit the oldest son and his wife this weekend.  I'll make a good attempt to watch the 500 on his big screen.  Not sure how well that will go over though.

Not much on the train front, other than to update the train inventory computer file with my last few aquisitions.

Chief, that pond of yours seems to need upkeep like a swimming pool.  I always thought that Mother Nature would take care of such things.

There are still corn boils here, like Don said, more west of us in a slightly more rural part of the state, usually combined with a fish fry.

Needless to say a corn boil must be a take off of the fish boils held in Door County, Wisconsin every summer.  We have some major sweet corn festivals and the boil the corn, but we do not call them a corn boil.

Just return from a date with Mrs. Buckeye.  Took her to the open house of the local water reclamation facility.  Although they had toosie rolls for snacks, we decided to eat at the local Amish resturant.  I know, I know, I'm putting you guys all to shame for taking my wife out on such an exotic date.

Tomorrow is TGIF and we had a three day weekend.  Whoop, Whoop, Whoopee!!!

Nice "A" Is that a 58? Has the hole in the bumper so you can crank start it. My Dads had that as well.

Looks like the VW transformer on the baysold for $53.00. I knew I should have bid on itSad

Patrick one of these days when I get some time off I'm going to trade you room and board for a couple of day for me doing some tractor work for you I miss riding the tractor bush hogging would be fine with me.

You would be welcome. Always have bush hogging to do. Maybe load up some calfs and take them to market as well? Pick up the Chief on your way, and I will see if Spank is available. We may find time to have a foursome for golf, after chores are done of course. I promise - no Grits for you for breakfest!

Might even have time for some train time! Big Smile

Good Afternoon Y'all!  Ah the south, it is great here, even with all the rain.  Married a Southern Bell, and now I can never go back north (except to visit).  Have had some nice offers to start programs, etc, but she will have nothing to do with moving above the MD line.

Got both the camera and the Atlanta and West Point car yesterday.  Unfortunately, the box car has a destroyed truck.  I have had this happen to other K-Line cars I have gotten.  I emailed the auction place, but have not heard back from them.  Last time, the Train-Station sent me two new Lionel trucks as they didn't have any K-Line.  Looks and works fine.  This is with ChooChoo, so we shall see.  Charles seems like a good guy to deal with.

Was a long day as we had some pretty big cases.  New guy is away at a meeting, so it makes my day longer.  Anyway, we got it all done and I will be heading home.  Hope that everyone is having a good week.  Brutus, prayers for wife.  Glad they have it narrowed down.  Hope they are able to get things under control and your wife back to top shape soon.  Chief, hope Miss Pam gets back to her old self soon too.
God Bless,
Dennis
