Mornin' Fellas

Got the powder room put back together last night... new mirror hung, towel bar hung, towel loop hung, switch plates reinstalled, shelf hung, wall plaque hung, dropped a picture and broke the glass (now have to see if I can get new glass for it as this is SusieQ's favorite trinket)... sigh.

JimT - Haven't watched Family Guy in forever.

fifedog

88 - Nice to "see" you Sir.  BTW, I think that WM consol would look right at home in my basement...

She looks right nice on The SFSRR. Smile But I may be tempted to box her up and bring her along for a visit... word of caution NO CRUISE CONTROL! I think I will be looking to add that to her though, too nice an engine NOT to run her on the upper level.

Really looking forward to July 18th. SusieQ and I are meeting my parents in Garrettsville at a B&B for the weekend and on Saturday we're all going for a Murder Mystery Dinner ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Everyone is really excited about it - even SusieQ.

Edit: Forgot to mention Fife, SusieQ loves boating.

Good Morning

Overcast and chilly, I noticed on the news this morning that lake Ste. Clair is quite choppy with a breeze. Me I like smooth water.

Granny is going to babysit today so I am on my own...S.J.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Hazy & 70 right now in the Mid-Atlantic region. Spent over 3 hours on the water yesterday aafternoon.  Pretty windy, but nice.  Boat handled great, but fifecrew has a lot to learn about sailing.  I need to put a "BE PATIENT" sign in the cockpit.  Only downside is the HUNTER 27 don't swing too well in reverse when docking in tight spaces.  Gonna have to swing her in and grab the lines.  The boy is already up wanting to have another go at it.  Coolest moment is when we had the WW2 Liberty ship JOHN BROWN off of our starboard.  Must have been down on the Severn, and was steaming into the Patapsco.  Big boat.

Morning all,

Up and getting ready for church services.  Oldest daughter sayed with us last night.  Her rehab is really going well, PRAISE GOD!!!!!

Jim - I understand your concern with your supervisor's remark.  Unfortunatly supervisors say things not intending to be hurtful or with a hidden meaning, because of stress, and others are just jerks.  Bring up your concern with you immediate supervisor.  He knows you better and clear the air.

I got my CTT last night and read the article that has all in a fuss, and I don't really see what the big deal is.  Oh well, ignore ignore ignore

Got to go

May God bless

Brent,

Welcome back. I thought about you the other day as I entered the local Lowes in search of another wrench for a Dremel tool.Big Smile  Apparently, the wrench isn't sold in stores.Angry  Fortunately, I found the one that I had lost.  Did you watch Family Guy a few nights ago?  Bruce made another appearance, and it was haliarious! Ohh Nooo! LOL!! Love that show.

Jim S.,

What you said sums up this forum perfectly.  Our fellow members are what make this forum so great.  There is a very strong family feel here.

Can someone help me put a small picture in my signature? I can't figure it out.  Had a rough day at work.  While looking for my supervisor, the main manager told me to wheel a cart of bread out and place it on the display. I didn't know where the display was, so I politely asked him.  He replied "If I knew where it was, I wouldn't need you here!"  I take my job very seriously, so that really got me upset.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s (and I hope Sunday is equally good).  Did another "Chief" today.  Trimmed trees along property line, trimmed the yard, edged the sidewalks, and swept the floors in the house.  Also did weights at the YMCA.  Wife and I went to see "Wolverine" last night (the "saucy wench" has a thing for Hugh Jackman!), and we went to Frisch's tonight.  Got the latest CTT today.  Good news is that it is a terrific issue.  Bad news is that it is only 92 pages ( not  a good sign).  Lucas got a shotgun Friday night and went shooting with it at his girlfriend's house today with it.  He does like his guns.  I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning.  Beacon is lit, but I have to get home early so we can leave on time for the race.

Tomorrow is the biggest day of the year for me.   The Indy 500.  Been going since 1962.  Missed 1977 due to college graduation.  Go Vitor, IV, and Sarah!  Maybe this year the track will be dry and the good guys (not Team Red or Team Green) will win.  I hope everyone (especially those going to the race) has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evenin' Fellas.

Been a few weeks since my last post... but not to worry I've been busy both with a major project at work and building a theater for the layout (neither of which are complete). Got sidetracked last weekend by SusieQ - she was complaining about the wainscotting in the powder room, so I had to remove some sections, redo them, fill the nail holes, and then paint... well while removing the upper trim on the wainscotting I tore some of the paper off the drywall. The room now has two coats of fresh paint, new wainscotting, painted trim, and new carpets. Looks really nice.

Put the GN GP-7 on the layout two weeks ago, the one I knocked off the layout, the very same one with Legacy. Well it would run, and the horn and whistle would blow, but no other railsounds. Dropped it off at the LTS last Saturday and when I walked in I was informed 'Your engine is here'... seems I ordered a WM 2-8-0 Consolidation back in 2007. Well I got her on the tracks today and all I can say is WOW! Highly detailed (even has the external wheel brakes), and the sounds are impressive with the Fat Boy Speaker. Dennis I hope to have some pictures and a video posted tomorrow. Need to finish rewiring a couple sections on the track and if I get that done we'll be in business... if you can get your hands on one you will NOT be disappointed.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend.

Ditto Jim SP and Don above - great people here and lots of good fellowship and fun Smile

Painted the closet, trimmed yard, mowed down in the trees & front & sides.  Finally quit because it was about dinner time and I had been working for about 12 hours today (including the OT).  That router is staring at me from the box, but I don't have any ambition left.  I think I got a little too much sun.  Short chats with SJ and Kurt tonight, but everyone is tired out or busy with guests!

Oh - CTT did come, it was in the mailbox!  Sorry for my lack of faith Smile

TARDIS will be ready shortly - I think I have some supplies, wife went shopping and got like $500 worth of stuff.  Don't know what, but apparently some of it was food and drink!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Don - The folks here set a tone that is friendly, welcoming and accepting.  Even the ocasional spats are quickly reconciled, which is a sign of mutual respect.  The people is what makes the Pot work.

Jim, You are right on.  I was just so surprised to see familiar names taking things from here and other places just to ridicule in secrecy.  Seemed so childish and immature, spineless.

Anyway,

Had a busy day, didn't seem to get a lot accomplished though.  Wifes computer died Thursday, power supply died.  Got a replacement, installed, and back on-line.  Now she's busy again, To-Do List has returned to its comotose state.  Whew!!!

Going to take family to Sprint Car races tonight.  Should be good, Chris has never seen the sprint cars, he is in for a treat.  They have some Iowa Hall of Famers being featured.  1/2 mile dirt track.  Major local event.

Take care,

Good Afternoon all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Thank you to all Vets, I appreciate your service.

I finished up nights this morning, it was crazy busy again last night.  The guys worked hard all night and we're caught back up on the schedule.  The investors are watching.

I got some new pics to share Sunday if I get them loaded up.

What is Tony the Postman?

Bride just filed out my weekend for me.  Oh well, weeding mulching.  It could be worse, like painting!

Morning all. Looks like a beautiful day - going to a Sox game later with friends. Hope to get there early to tail-gate. Thanks to those of  you who serve. Safe travels to those on the road or asea. Bob, I get a kick out of how Tony the Mailman thought you looked like a geologist... Nice fishing gear you picked up, Jim. Someday I have to go fishing with someone who knows how - I've tried to figure it out - rod, reel, cast, bait by myself. Big mess. But still fun. Sorry for your rough night, Dennis. . .Wish I could get my car to run on spaghetti sauce - gas up to $2.65 - I got the E85 this more for twenty cents less... Still pondering how to re-do the layout... Lookee here - CTT in today's mail. Hurray!

Doug - except for no E85 car, everything above sums up my thoughts exactly - lol (cheap way to get current Wink)  Did not get CTT yet, but John Baker DID get it already - what's up with that?  OTOH, my new wireless router came today, so I can get in some extra frustration and cursing tonight, lol!

Worked 6 OT and now I am done with lunch and ready to do some work on the old homestead, so in the word's of Don's governator, I'll Be Back!

Now it's time to take the two lil' guys down to the train store - fot them that's the highlight of our trips to up here.  Train Station (in Mountain Lakes) here we come!

Who you kidding, Dad, like the rest of us, you get as much enjoyment as they do.  Besides, they give us the chance to buy more goodies and tell the bride "He really wanted this"Whistling  Anyway, say hello to Doug W. and have a good trip.

Well, I got home and ate breakfast about 11:20am and then got called back at 12:04 for another emergency.  Oh well.  We have another in the wings, so I'm just sticking around to make sure the dust has settled before I leave.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 70 degrees. Looks like it may clear up. Going up to 85 today with a few clouds.

Today is busy. I have a few chores to do and then, I want to work in the train room. I am organizing some parts and cleaning. Good place to spend the day

Gas has risen from $2.00 a gallon to $2.50 a gallon in 4 days. Looks like the gas companies have to take advantage of the Holiday.

Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.  And a safe and Happy Holiday.

Oh what a night!  Before I got to leave, we had a trauma.  Real bad case and the writing was on the wall before I left.Sad  Then, I get a call at 01:30 from a nurse for a patient on a Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump that was alarming.  Simple fix over the phone...had her turn the helium tank on.  But unfortunately, I was not able to get back to sleep.  So now I am at the hospital and it is crazy with all the patients coming in.  I need to check to see if someone put a special sale on for trauma and heart disease.  Oh well.

On the camera front, I am starting to get more familiar with this new toy.  Been taking a lot of photos and hope to get some online soon, but with the schedule the way it has been, I am not sure when I'll get to it.  I also have pleny of things to get to at home if the rain will stop and the pages back to the hospital will stop.

What I'd really like to do is get some layout work done.  What I really need is sleep.  Hope everyone has a great weekend and a blessed memorial day.  Don't forget to remember the vets and those on the front lines keeping us safe.

Good Morning All,

Been busy this week, added a new product line to our products should really help alot.  Looking forward to the weekend, thinking about some minor changes on the layout.  Relocate a station and also a Yard tower.

Had an interesting experience also.  Stumble upon one of the other forums, and just couldn't believe the content of the posts.  I've seen it before, and the language was just to vile for my taste, anyway many of these guys just sit back reading this and the OGR forum and just ridicule people and various threads.  Very shallow, cheap thrills.  What was really surprising, is a lot of them are familiar names that you see frequently, both here (SPF) and OGR.  Its really too bad, but I suppose even in a hobby you have to be concerned of who is lurking in the shadows.

On a brighter side, hopefully will get some pictures done for the car exchange, and am looking forward to an All Gauge train show coming up in a couple of weeks.  I have always found a lot of interesting stuff.

Hope the wives continue to improve, so take care and have a good weekend.

HI GYZ,

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!!  Don't forget to THANK a VET.

Ran trains last nite for an hour and a half, while watching the hockey game.  NO PILE UPs!  But big PILE UP in hockey game, Red Wing crushed the Blackhawk at center ice.  WOW guy didn't move for quite a while, was seeing birds tweeting.  Didn't look like a cheap shot but ref called a major on him anyway.

FIFE, I broke a few windows with baseballs, my backside smarted a few days afterwards.  Had to work off the cost of neighbors windows by doing all the chores for a few weeks.  Ah the memories.

BRUTUS, tanks for the pickup.  I was low on OL MILs.

Sign - Welcome to all you puppies on the pot.

Trout fishing tomorrow afternoon.

Stay frosty,

Ahoy maties! Pirate Sunny, 66, with winds 5-10 mph from the south and waves 1-2 feet on the Upper Chesapeake this morning.  Guess where we're headed at noon...?  Oldest princess had her prom last night.  What a knockout!  All the neighbors came out.

Well Tony the mailman came by today. We spent most of the time going thru my boxes of minerals. Not a whole lot of "oh my gosh" stuff as a lot of it was picked up in the field, but he seemed excited to get it. He brought some of his train stuff to show me and of all things it was an Alco RS-3 painted up in the colors of one of the mines I worked for. Too cool. He also gave me the flyer for the Gadsden Pacific's summer show coming up next month. Strangely enough I'm even off that week. May have to look for one of those Alco's...

Picked up the camshaft and associated parts. Tomorrow I hope to finish putting the garage in order and then it's time to start assembly. Anybody here read Roger Welsh's tractor books? Well in his words this would be "the moment of golden turnaround" which is where you stop taking things off and start putting them back on.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

8nt - have a great trip!

Charlie - you too, watch out for Laz!  I mean that big bear out there!

Fife - sorry about the glass block, can you repair it I wonder?  Maybe call one of those windshield doctor places?

Nice talk to Jim and Doug tonight.  Then I had a 2nd chat going at the same time with a family friend and her friend.  Also talking with my wife, all at the same time!  Sorry guys, too much going on, said good night about 2 seconds too late Sad

Got an email from English - he's doing pretty well.  Has to set up Lionel on the floor still.

Another weird day at work - guess everyone was keyed up about the weekend.  Wife actually was given 4 hours off to get started on it early, so that was cool.  She is feeling fine right now and not as tired, so maybe anemia is waning again for a while?  Son got a bad sunburn playing baseball at school all day, some kind of outdoors day today.  I think they are getting to the end of the school year.

Alright - scope on and I can see Mike, Patrick, Doug, Don, Rich, Other-Doug, Laz, Ray, RT, Charlie, Ole Timer, and Dennis - need to stock up on Old Mills and the cupboard is pretty bare, but Sir James said he has us covered Wink  I'll look for more beacons and porch lights on the way.  Working 6 OT tomorrrow, so better get going - ciao!

Poured spagetti & meat sauce into the tank on the biofuel lawn mower tonight and ran it around the lawn.  Pulled the satrionary blade off of it last week, sharpened it and re-set the clearances to the reel.  Cuts a whole lot better now.  Headed in after finishing the lawn to refill the tank with a MGD but was delayed when my wife started trimming the bushes in front of the house Banged Head.  They do look better, but not what I was planning on doing tonight.

My Spitfire had a single SU carb.  No syncronization problems.  But the diaphram did develop a hole the morning I took it to the road course at Michigan International Speedway for track day. Throttle response was non existant.  Not all was lost, though.  It taught me a lot about carrying speed and maintaining momentum through the corners.

Stopped at the local hobby store to kibitz.  Wa surprised to find out that the Ann Arbor boxcar by MTH was in.  Nice looking piece - in fact the other customer in the store was hoping that I would not buy it.

The store also had a copy of the MTH 2009 volume 2 catalog.  Some good looking things in it.  I'm tempted....

Off to Hobart for the weekend.  Back on Monday.

Steve,

I'd bet the ignition module is getting ready to die.  I have heard of these symptoms many times occurring with 1993-94 Probe GTs.  There is a transistor in the ignition module that enters thermal runaway when it heats up, causing the car to stop dead.  The car will start as normal after the transistor cools for a short time.  If the fuel pump was bad, it would likely refuse to start at all.

Fife,

        Sorry about the window.

I got the 3656 cattle car that I had been waiting for, but it has needs.  I am going to junk a restored 3459 dump car because I need the trucks for the 3656.

I also went on a spending spree yesterday and bought a Pinnacle Inertia baitcasting reel, a six foot Ugly Stik rod, and some 12LB Cajun Red Cast.Big Smile  Can't wait until Sunday!

Morning all

More rain and a lot of clouds in the valley. Seems more like a winter storm than whatever this is. But at least it isn't 100 degrees like last time off.

Jon - I've never been in an MGA but I know getting into the B is a bit different from anything else I've owned. Usually a truck or 4WD guy and used to getting up into things. I describe the B to folks as you don't get into to it, you kind of put it on. Although I have to say it's a neat feeling. Someone pulled out the disgusting "Abington pillow" dash and is now painted metal w/ wood inserts. Between the chrome and the gauges and sliding into the leather seat it feels like a Spitfire or something.

There is someone w/ a VW camper cruising the neighborhood, just went past again. Must be making adjustments. It is getting me nostalgic for the Corvair. Currently stored at a friends house. Oh well, MG first. Focus, focus...

Doug - I volunteer w/ the local planetarium from time to time and have a 4" refractor myself. There are some nice spots around here, but you do have to get out of the city. If you ever in the neighborhood a tour could be arranged. It takes a little doing to get the permits as we are in a protected area on the mountain. It's a bit of a haul too. 3 hrs minimum from Tucson, an hour from base camp alone. I once took my mom up there from Mesa, boy was that a day. In the Jeep, too.

Just left a message for Tony the mailman. Turns out he has all the Gadsden Pacific ore cars. I ran across some of them on ebay recently. They have the markings of a lot of the local mines, a few that I've worked at. I'll need to start unloading the mineral samples and see what we can trade. He has a bunch of track and accessories stored that may come in handy in setting up the layout.

Ok, have to walk down to the store and should find something for breakfast. Hope everyone has a good day.
