My goodness! The Chief has been getting up early this week. Feel better Chiefie!

Good morning everyone. A soggy day here in New England. Rain makes ya beautiful, or so I'm told.

Well, my gubinatorial candidate lost last night. But in the race for mayor, Willie Makeit narrowly defeated Jane Woant. The independent candidate, Hu Flung Poop ran a dirty campaign and came in a distant third. His chances for victory got flushed down the drain. And with that, I'll close out my political commentary.

A lot of interesting responses to my post yesterday about happiness and trains. I hope no one got the idea that I'm growing tired of all the hobby has to offer. There are so many facets to enjoy and participate in. I love it!

Have a great day, all!

Jim

Good morning all,

It is mild and foggy here in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s heading for the 60s.  I wish I had more to report, but there is nothing for today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hey Laz,

Need practice on that CNC router? Route me out a Lionel "circle L" logo! 18" - 24" diameter should be a good size! Wink [;)]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a partly sunny 51 degrees. Going up to 62 today. Might turn out to be a nice day. This is a welcome warm trend.

Today is grocery shopping day again. Love that job. Prices of gas are starting to creep back up again. We are at $ 2.15 a gallon here and $2.10 in Cambridge. Probably because of elections. LOL

There is a Security Counsel meeting of the Central & South Eastern Division of OTTS , tomorrow. Many new topics will be discussed. Details of the meeting will be forwarded to all OTTS members.

There's the whistle. Dining Car just rolled in. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Chuck

The election is over. We now return you to your regularly scheduled life. Big Smile [:D]

Well it looks like I have two choices for the right of way for the Christmas layout . . .

Option 1: A layout half the size of last year's in our foyer. Advantages: viewability, heat, etc. Disadvantage: fewer buildings, fewer accessories, shorter train consists.

Option 2: A layout larger than last year in the garage. Advantages: larger, ability to use more buildings, accessories, etc. Garage is finished with good lighting but no heat. Disadvantages: no heat (although a space heater is a possibility), location not ideal for guest viewing .

Given these choices, which would you take? Our winters are fairly mild, but it can still get pretty cold in Dixie. Opinions, please!

Good morning,

Buckeye, I also noticed that. I suspect they haven't been getting any hits lately so they decided to delete them.

Rainy day here, Supposed to rain all day long, in the high 50s at the moment.

This evening I will be stopping at a LHS to check on the new display layout and maybe lend a hand. I volunteered to wire it when the other volunteers get it built. Will be set up for both TMCC & DCS on both loops and also conventional of course. I’ve been bugging the owner to set up for DCS so he can demo the locos he sells. Talked myself into a job. Smile [:)]

Almost lunch time and didn't get anything done this morning. Blush [:I]

Dr. John,

I agree with LAZ. Why not make 2 layouts? The small one in your home can amuse visitors and family. It might even amuse you (run that blue Marx beauty there). The one in the garage could be made to to accomodate more of your criteria of what a layout should be. Sounds like the best of both worlds. I don't know how cold it gets where you are, but I would think you could work around that.

Either way, good luck!

Laz and Jim,
Actually, that's not a bad idea. Time constraints force me to make a choice right now, since I really don't have time to deal with two Christmas layouts. I will probably utilize the garage for a semi-permanent layout at some point.

Dr. John,

Think of it as one large layout that you intend to do in pieces. It's like eating a large pizza by yourself. If they divide it into 8 slices, you could never finish it. But if they divide it into only 4 slices, it's very do-able! You only have to eat half as many slices! Wink [;)] Wrap your brain around that. Smile [:)]

Speaking of layouts - I want to see some progress photos of Laz's new layout.

John, if you want to volunteer, I am at the point of wiring the layout.Smile [:)]  Going with fastrack and plan on running wires for both TMCC/DCS capability.  Right now, it looks like I will be putting TMCC on line first (thanks to a special friend).  I am planning on having power to rails every 3 foot.  Switches will be on separate power.  I understand that I should have equidistant runs for the DCS factor.  I copied down the list from OGR tips that someone had in a post.

Got the GA Power 1996 Olympic set coming in this week.  I got it for about $200.00 in LN condition.  Planning on giving it to FIL as he just retired from GA Power and has stated he wished he had purchased one in the short time they were available.  Just have to make sure it comes back for my son when that time comes.

Not much happening today.  I did have a little bad news, one of our older cars was getting serviced at a local dealership.  Some kids broke in and stole it with several other cars and had a bit of short time fun having damaged about a dozen cars in all.  they were caught, but since they are juveniles, the cops released them to their parent(s).  Police told the dealership that not much they can do since the dealership did not have video of them actually on the property so the only charge would have been posession of a stolen vehicle.  Personally, I think they should file a civil suit against the parents and perhaps the parents will start parenting.  As for our car, hey it's only a car and the insurance will take care of it.

A very common word for those of us that participate in the art of surveying.  Concentric and equilateral are also words of the engineering and surveying secret societies, but my favorite is indeterminate.
