IE7? Hadn't noticed before.
All the optional toys have gone from this forum,
not that I used them much. I frequently screwed up with the old one.

Buckeye--

That's right, IE does not support this "software" with all the bells and whistles nor does Safari. The only way I can use emoticons and post pics is with Firefox.

That's what happens when your CTT software package comes from the Thrift Store at midnight.

Jon, my good friend, you are wrong!  Please do not belittle the Thrift Store.  Many outstanding pieces of my Canadian fishing wardrobe have been purchased at the Thrift Store, and thewalleye loved my fashion selections.  Most likely Morton-Thiokol provided the CTT software package and you know what happened the last time someone tried to launch a MT product......KA-BOOM!!!!

I haven't planned on getting IE7 yet. I can't help you there. I don't have anything planned for today. Hope everyone has a good day.

Jim,

The 3461 has operating magnetic type couplers. If you are looking for a 3461, check ebay becasue I have seen some at very good prices in the ebay store area at the bottom of the page.

Good morning from a grey northeastern Illinois. Just came back from men's small group and breakfast at the local diner. Nice way to start the day. Want to eyeball what's left of the side mirror recently scraped off the side of the minivan by someone close to me who will go unnamed - but the van is mysteriously gone doing errands. Thanks for the tip on plywood squares, John!

I don't know about the Louisv/WV game - if these teams want to be considered at the next level - this wasn't the game to showcase: they both looked awful. Leave it to the Bulls to find a way to lose when up 5 pts. with 10 seconds left.

I got a brainstorm over night about creating a sort of shell for one of the trolleys to convert it to a freight motor. Hope to experiment later.

As for browsers, I'll stick with Safari. Too bad nothing works here with it.

Good morning to everyone and thanks for the kind welome back remarks a couple of days back. I wish there was a way to post on this thread without having to reply to a specific post, if there is, please tell me how!

I am busy working driving my wife around to her patients, its too cold to be sitting outside on a bike but thats what I have to do, I wish I could convert my sideacar to a travelling workshop. As it is I only get a couple of hours a night to work on my blue Scout that I'm dolling up as the latest in a huge stack of revolving projects.

This is the wife's computer so I dont get on it as much as I'd like.

Its great to see Lionel fighting to do what they said they would and I'm definitely going to be at Trainland next weekend to meet Jerry Calabrese, if any CEO s earning his money, he is.

Oh well, time to climb back into my bomber jacket and trousers and boots, it always makes me think of that phrase 'putting on the armor of the Lord'!  God bless you all.

Good morning all! Cloudy and cool here. High of 65 today and it may rain tonight.

Daughters HS marching band goes to state next Tues, so the missus and I are driving down to San Antonio for a couple of relaxing days on the old riverwalk and to watch them compete. Staying across from the Alamo. The band is going to detour through Houston so they can use the Astrodome for a practice session. I asked one of the other band board members what is costs to rent the 'dome for 2 hours. Answer - $450! Hey - I might throw a party there!

Buckeye - thanks for the warning on IE7. I will wait.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

When I was done with my morning's work at Target today I cut through the toy department and noticed 2 large orange and blue boxes, Lionel has come to Target!  I diden't take the time to look what set it was but the price is $249.99.  I'll see if I can find a number on the box Monday.  I wonder if it might be a special order non-catalogue set.

If any come into my area with damaged packaging I might be tempted to mark one down and buy it at around 1/2 Target's selling price.  Damaged goods that are salable are usually marked down 30%, at my discression I can increase that to 50% if really bad and with my employee 10% discount I might not be able to pass it up.

Roy, it was great to read about some of your work in the CTT issue.  As an aside, Jerry Calabrese mentioned your layout in the article about Lionel moving back to NYC.  As for your going to San Antonio, I was there a few times for meetings.  We enjoyed the taxidermy collection at the Buckhorne Saloon, right up from the Alamo, and also some Margaritas at Rio on the riverwalk.  It is a  nice city.

It was a good day today.  I actually have started the 3rd level of my layout.  I am hoping to have some passenger action going on that level.  Need to spend a few uninterupted hours and I should have it done and start on scenery.  I am under the wire as some of the stuff for the train room is in a spare bedroom that the MIL will be residing in for a few days starting next weekend.

Have a good weekend everyone.  I am looking forward to seeing the photos on Sunday Photo Fun.

Good evening all,

It is dark and mild in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 40s tonight.  The day can be summed up in one word:  Leaves!   My wife and I spent most of the afternoon getting the leaves out of the yard.  We celebrated 28 years as a married couple tonight at Chili's as well.  Roger B., that is good news to hear that Lionel is in Target.  My first Lionel set in my adult life was a Rail Blazer set from 1987 that I bought at a Target after Christmas sale for $35.  I wonder if lightning will strke twice because that looks like a nice set.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening,

Buckeye, I have learned after many problems to never buy or update to a new program for at least a year after it comes out.  The computer forums are loaded with bad news posts about IE7.  I suspect the new MS operating system 'Vista' will have the same startup bugs.  If anyone is in the market for a new computer I would advise to buy one now as a lot of the companies are reducing prices, since a lot of people are putting off purchases waiting for Vista.  Big mistake in my book, I would prefer a stable WinXP machine that uses a mature OS that has been pretty well debuged for several years.  Just my My 2 cents [2c].  BTW, Vista is now scheduled for a January release which has the computer mfgrs. in fits as it will miss the Christmas season.

Meanwhile on the toy train front. Smile [:)]  My grandson and I spent several hours constructing a meter panel with 3 amp meters, 3 volt meters, 3 panel mount fuse holders & 3 pilot lights to indicate a blown fuse.  Now have to mount it and wire into layout.  It will be hooked up to a postwar ZW & a newly installed brick.  The other layout power, a Z4000, has built in meters and good CB protection.

Kevin, If 10 below is "not to cold yet", then Alaska is definately not for me.

Doug,  You will love that 4-6-0, I think it is the same engine as my PRR version.  Runs great and sounds great.  It is my 3 year old granddaughter's favorite.  I have to run it for her every time I run trains as she loves the cho-cho sound.

Roy,  Enjoy yourselves in San Antonio.  Never been there but it is on my to do list.

Grandson and I cleaned up a ton of leaves today, a lot more to come.  We had the first real subfreezing night last night with two more in the forecast.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cloudy 40 degrees. Going up to 55 today. Looks like , maybe , a warm spell is coming next week.

Today, I plan on taking it easy. Run trains this afternoon. I have been oiling some of the cars lately. Got a squeeky wheel, so decided to do them all.

Looks like a good day for Sunday Photo Fun. I always enjoy looking at pictures  that are posted. Some neat trains.

Time for the Dining Car. All aboard.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

I see that Sadaam was found guilty and sentenced to death.  I wonder, if their system is anything like ours, if he'll die of old age before the appeals are done.

Been doing quite a bit of work on the bench for the client's layout: adding lights to buildings, kitbashing, making track crossings from balsa wood, etc. etc.  I can almost count on many things being done at least twice since he is indecisive and cannot visuallize how something will look till its done or a mock-up made.  This past Friday I had to lengthen a passing siding since the passenger consist he plans on running was too long.  He only had the track down since March with nothing being done till I started working for him in Oct. and never checked the length until I had all the wiring done for that section.Censored [censored]

Meanwhile nothing is getting done on my layout.  The abandoned ranch scene I started has truely been abandoned, buildings set landscaping started.

As soon as the frost dries off today I guess I better run the mulching mower around the lawn again, the leaves are falling fast.

Roger, read the story on the trial of Saddam and his croneys, I was wondering how the others who were convicted of murder can get away with 15 years, sounds like our judicial system.

Well, getting ready for Church, then I hope to finish track work on the 3rd level and starting on scenery.  It should be  a good day and week for the railroad.  Wonder if I should name it?  I am on call this coming week, so who knows how this week will go.

Cold this AM.  Got up early to go to SS.  Not much planned for today.  Probably do expenses and event report.  BPS is surely not organized.  Guess they are making so much money, they just do not care.  Chat later.

HEY GUYS !!!!! GESS WHAT? I HAVE NO MORE MONEY!!!

I spent it all at a train show saturday. I got deal after deal after deal on the stuff I got!

I got a turntable (manual) for $5, a MEC boxcar for $3, and MEC boxcar kit for $7.50, a PRR crearance car for $3 (oringal price was above $3. I got it out of a box the said that every thing inside was $3 end of story) red lights, a dumby F7 unite (which I nicked named F***U unite cause I thought it was a cheep engine that worked but hey I can crash it now with out have to worry about damaging the motor cause it does not have one!) a bumper (dead end pice)

now there is a funny story that goes with the bumper.

It was the end of the show there was hardly anyone left looking at the layout that was set up. I had a $1 left. it was $4.15, I stood there looked like I would really like it but doun't have enought money. I had been to that booth before to the clearance car and the lights so the lady who was running that booth knew that I only had change and no bills, so she gave it to me for my last $1.

I went there with.. are you ready? $18.81 I came out with .14 cents. talk about cutting it close or what? But hey most of it was ready to roll only my MEC kit needed to be put together which took oh about 5 to 10 min. the doors are held in place with white glue and the under frame and the container are held together with white glue. I was up untill 12:45 am using my new items.

I am one happy boy!

Just goes to show what happens when I have money and a train show is in town!! lol

ModelTrainLover, you are happy.  That is what counts.  Had lazy day.  Did all my reports and a memo.  Did not water greenhouse so will tomorrow AM.  Wife and I rode to Wake Forest as gas was 7 cents cheaper at that BP [$2.09].  Got a Hardee's milkshake each [made from real ice cream] and rode through one of the big subdivisions being built in Roseyville.  Looks like about 200+ houses are completed and 98% occupied.  Folks moving in as soon as they complete them.  Was impressed with how well all the yards have been kept maintained and most had added flowers and etc.  Think I'll go run some CARPET trains. Good evening all,

It is dark and mild in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  I went to the YMCA and did some more leaf gathering.  Lucas had his girlfriend over this afternoon as well.  My wife had to go help the oldest daughter as she was feeling under the weather and her husband had to work.  I have Tuesday off for Election Day and I am taking Monday off as well.  Woo-hoo!  Four day weekend!

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening,

Modeltrainlover, I assume that you were buying HO, don't think O ever gets that cheap.

Chief, Glad to see you completed your trip safely.  BTW, trying something new in the greenhouse this winter.  Have a buddy who has tropical water lilies in his pond.  He gave me two this spring & they did great.  Since they won't winter over in the pond, he brought over a large tub, about 3' in diameter & two aquarium heaters.  We put 6 pots of lilies in it and will keep the water about 65 degrees.  Right now have buds and flowers in GH.

Any B&O fans on the pot? (Buckeye?) There are some real nice B&O passenger cars by K-line on the bay.  Seller is emptyshelf , I have bought from this one with no problems.

Weather today was either partly sunny or partly cloudy depending if you are an optimist or a pessimist.

As elsewhere looks to be a nice week ahead if the weather guys are close to correct.
