Good Evening........

I had a nice day today. Sun came out and warmed up to 60. Took boys for a walk. Ran trains for 3 hours this afternoon. Had company for supper.

I see that " Chief " is back. So much for peace and quiet.

And, with that I will say ..... See ya tomorrow.

When I miss a couple days posting to this I feel like I don't know what to add.  Seems you miss so much in a few days.  Hope all had a good week and weekend.  We had a very busy week.  I kept a watch on the forum just not this thread.  It goes so fast.

Stopped down the Iron Horse here in Pitt.  They had a sale this week.  I picked up a few ground cover items and a Fast Track expansion kit as well as a couple of isolate rail extenders.  I really am growning fond of FT.

Whew!!!  Weekend over, yeah!  Did 3 shows in 2 days, lots of work.  Carpet going down in our new room tomorrow, GREAT NEWS!  Will start consolidating all the train stuff in one place finally!  Then to put up a temporary layout OFF the floor!

At our train club meeting last Wed, I spouted off about how the club has the emphasis in the wrong direction for the short term.  Instead of being concerned about some long term layout projects, we need to be concerned about some short term maintence issues.  Their is a REAL possibility of loosing  the club building due to Park Renovation, and asset utilization.  A group of "Indians" have made claim to some historical issues, and are the "chosen" due to the political correcteness, etc..  So a group has been hired to put together a "renovation/utilization plan" which could through our group out on our caboose.
As a result, I was indicating that we need to really spruce the place up so it looks like a community asset, as oppossed to a bunch of old guys playing with trains.  So, over the weekend it sounds from the email that a lot was accomplished.  I've got to go down tomorrow and get some measurements to get some curtains put up.  There are a number of 4 pane windows with probably 40 coats of paint on the frames, but looks like they were painted with a 4" brush, and no one botthered to take the paint off the glass.  And some are even broken, sooo.... curtains are best short term resolution.

Chief, don't leave to much devastation in PA, I hope to go there in April.

Good morning, everyone.

The kids and I had a wonderful time at the trainstore this weekend. We picked up an entire PW set there.

Yesterday I spent much of the time caulking the house and pulling in lawn and patio furniture for the winter.

Last night I fired up our new Williams 2343 F3s for the first time. Very nice, quiet, smooth runners, but not without a quirk. The horn will only activate with 9 volts or less. Anything over 9 volts and it will not sound. The bell will activate at any voltage so far. Both sounds require the activations buttons to be pressed for a several seconds before working. The sounds are good when they work.  I had read that a new company is making the sound boards for Williams. Oh, Larry . . .

Finally got my issue of More Allstar Electric Trains. Love that Storytown layout! So far, this magazine was worth the wait. Still, next year I'll get it at the news stand.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a partly cloudy 40 degrees. Going up to 60 today, with sunshine. That is not too bad for November.

Today is a typical Monday. Have a few phone calls to make. Some little jobs to finish. Plan the week. A lot of " no pressure " stuff.

I pretty much have a plan for the new tunnel entrance. I will make it different from the other one. Just checking my clearances, with all of my engines. That scale FP-45 really overhangs a 42" curve. More than the Trainmaster.

Jim ( jaabat ).... All of my Williams with the new horn, require a minimum of 9 volts to activate the horn and bell. And, yes,you have to hold in the button for a few seconds. Just a suggestion......Call Williams on that issue. May be a defect.

Well, the Dining Car just rolled in. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

I had a rough night yesterday, felt bad.  Not sure, getting congested and achey.  Anyhow, no trainwork.  I did get to bed early and woke in time to watch I Love Toy Trains this morning on RFD.  The episode was on a guy named Ron in Wayne, NJ.  Very nice layout and spectacular catanery.  They even showed how he made it using brass rod and stock.  For those looking into an overhead system, you may want to look into this.

On call this week, so I will be trying to get my trainwork in as the schedule allows.  Hope to get the scenery started.  At least want to get to the point of dropping wires through the benchtop and running buss wires.

Have a great day.

Dennis

Chief, Sounds like a plan, Harrisburg is between me and Laz, Mitch would have further but not a lot.  Keep in touch.  Only problem that I see is that your schedule might be just in time for our last blizzard of the winter. Big Smile [:D]

Where is Laz today, he is usually checked in by now.  May be in morning since Da Bears lost yesterday. Sad [:(]

Jim, That Williams definately sounds like there is a problem.  I have several and never had one act like that.  Is it still under warranty?  If not I have a couple of True blast horns that I have taken out of Williams engines that I converted to TMCC.  You are welcome to one if you need it.

Busy day planned for today, not much train time in the schedule.

WOO HOO sounds  like we YANKS can get to show the southerner a good time.  Looking forward to it CHIEF.

Well back at school after my two day conference with all the other shop teachers.  Friday was a great day we took a tour of the Hersheys Chocolate plant.  Very interesting tour, got to eat a bunch of chocolate and saw them make well over 50000 kisses in the short period of time there.

Ran trains over the weekend and worked on layout, wiring lights.  Got to get some pics posted to show progress.

Went pheasant hunting saturday and saw nothing for 4 hours of walkin.

JOE PATERNO got taken out of the game when a couple of GIZ bowled him over.  They flew him back to Pa, he has a broken leg.  Hopefully no other damage.  I don't know why he still does it at 79 years old?  Well hope it is not too serious?

So did the Patriots! Brady looked aweful. 4 interceptions.

Did anyone watch that choke job Vanderjack pulled in the Dallas/Washington game?! I actually laughed out loud when the kick was blocked! Defeat from the jaws of victory with 6 seconds left!!!

Added some more trees to our layout yesterday. I used some dried Caspia from Michael's.

Good morning from a damp and warm Chicago where it is rapidly warming (hope for 70s by Wed.). I have something like a full-blown cold. Ugh. Can't believe the Bears lost to Miami - shows what complacency will do. It must be me - whenver I watch, they do poorly. Read a book review of a new Walt Disney bio last week where his vision for  Disneyland is described as the world's largest model train layout. Goes in Walt's great love for railroading. Claims Walt got the idea for DL (and train bug) at the '48 Railroad Fair in Chicago.

Jim, tell us about your new PW train.  My Williams GG-1 needs relatively high voltage to sound the horn or bell - and I have to hold down the button for it to 'take' - just like Chuck described.

I notice Chief is avoiding Chicago. Got my PTC Birney in the mail. Saving it for Christmas. Still no Bowser motor.

Good morning all.

Prepping for trip to San Antonio later today for the State marching contest.

Spent the weekend at a regional marching contest, mowing the lawn, cleaning leaves out of gutters, and watching NASCAR (better time spent than watching Cowboys rack up over 150 yards of penalties to counter Romo's good performance).

Lots of rain here. Amazingly the rain split to the north and south to completely miss the NASCAR race after it finally started due to rain delay. Temps headed into low 80's this week.

Will check in later this week. Have a great one all!

Regards, Roy

Gutters now too.  Parts of roof I can get up on [by ladder or crawling out window] will use leaf blower.  Hey, I have an attachment to blow them out from the ground.  Since they are not wet, may try that one again.  Later.

Sunny and windy in Dixie today. Warmer too. Looks like rain later on.

Had some good luck on Ebay over the weekend. Managed to win four Lionel 9500 series passenger cars in the Blue Comet paint scheme - two coaches, combine and observation car. Also won a K-Line Alco AA set in the SP Black Widow scheme. Now if I can just sell what I have listed!

Negotiations continue between the railroad president (me) and railroad board member (wife) over right of way considerations for Christmas layout. We need to make decision so construction can begin Thanksgiving day (gotta work off that turkey! Big Smile [:D] ). The saga continues . . .

Good evening all,

It is mild and cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s today.  Got a lot of bills paid and some issues resolved, but I have spent over an hour on the telephone with Verizon trying to set up e-mail accounts for my wife and son to no avail.  They referred me to Microsoft who did not help either.  Other than that it was a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day, and to do like they do in Chicago tomorrow, vote early and often :-).

Keep on training,

Dr. John, My Board member just asked me when all the boxes are getting out of one of the spare rooms as her Mother will be staying there.  Sounds like they went to the same prep school for future board members.

Had a interesting ride to work today, past the NS yard in town and they were putting a circus train together.  Lots of fancy cars and equipment loaded on flats and some passenger cars too.  Also saw that "I Love Toy Trains" episode this morning.  So, even though no running of trains here, I did get a fare share of train time.

Good Evening......

It was a beautiful day in Ohio today. 80 degrees and sunny. Spent a lot of time outside enjoying it. Played ball with the boys. Went for a walk. This week is suppose to be the same.

I am working on a few details, on the layout. As soon as I have finished, I will take a few pictures and post them. Nothing else, new, in the train room.

Y'all have a nice evening,

Chuck

Good night all.  BTW: got another PW ZW at excellent price from a buddy [that is a Yankee]. Big Smile [:D]  Got another one that I had already bid on at Choochoo [maybe someone will out bid me on that one now].   Now that will 3 275 W PW ZW's, 2 KW's and several 1033 bricks.  Now to get the layout built to use all that power.

Good morning, everyone.

Today is election day. Please vote if you are able. It's a priviledge to do so. I'm voting for Kerry Healey for Gov in MA. Seymore Butts is running against Eileen Dover for mayor. That's a tough one as both candidates bring a lot to the table. Claude Balls is a shoe-in for animal control officer. Still, he'll get my vote.

I ran our new post war 2037 last night. Good looking locomotive. Needs a new smoker, but to be honest, I don't care whether it smokes or not.

The Williams F3s sure do run smooth. A Lionel 726 and a Williams GG1 and I should just about be done. I have the high bid on a 726 so far, but my max bid is going to fall far short of winning when all is said and done.

My favorite part of each morning is logging on here and seeing what's new. Have a great day all!

Jim
