Good morning everyone.

Still way under the weather up here. This is no cold we have. It's got to be a flu. As bad as I feel, I feel worse knowing the kids have it too. The poor little guys. I put my foot down and told my wife that Julia was staying home from school yesterday. She relented and kept her home - reluctantly. Sigh [sigh]

I ran our little post war 2034 last night with a short string of post war cars. That little 2-4-2 zips right a long.

Y'all have a great day.

Time for a hot cup of tea.

HI GIZ,

38 and blusterly  today to get to 50?

JIM,  a good shot of Rock and RYE and cover up and sweet it out seems to always work for me.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Well I called DA GIZ from TAS yesterday about my turbo smoke unit and they told me that it won't work with the existing board that is in the Mohawk.  But that I could work it off the pickup rollers and to put a switch in it to shut of the smoke when on a siding.  Did the hook up and all works great, LOTS O SMOKE.  Going to get another one in April at YORK.

All have a good one.

Forgive my ignorance, Laz, but what is Rock and Rye? My inlaws keep telling me to make myself a hot toddy and sweat it out as well.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and cold in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s today.  I worked out at the YMCA last night.  The Target set looks nice.  It is good to see the circle L in the "mainstream" stores again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a frosty 34 degrees and sunny, only going to 45 today. Maybe some snow flurries later.

I have a few things to do today, and maybe a walk later with the boys. They are getting " cabin fever " already. Need to go out and run. Later, I will spend some time in the train room. Had a couple of thoughts, last night , on the track plans and want to test them out. Good day for it.

All aboard for the Dining Car. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Chuck

Dep, RFD is great for such shows as Trains and Locomotives and also I Love Trains.  Check your listings as they run several times within a few days.  Another channel to check out is History International as they have  a program called "Voyages" and a good percentage of shows are on trains.

Jim, two things, complain to the magazines, so they will work on it from their end.  Secondly, call the postmaster general.  I have the same problem with the Weekly Standard, and also with Popular Mechanics and my CTT.  They would show up from time to time having the pages folded like they had been read and left on the coffee table at the post office.  It seems to have gotten better, but my CTT still takes about a week longer than everyone else to arrive.  I do notice we have a new mail delivery person.  I guess it comes late as they need to raise postage....again.

Good morning from a sunny and cold Chicago where winter is in full swing. Hopefully, it will warm up again - we missed any sort of late fall 'Indian summer' - too cold to rake leaves.

Jim F. - I second asking the mag's customer serv for help. I would not call the local P.O. My CTT seems to always come with the cover half- slit (must be going through some machinery incorrectly) but at least I get it.

Jim A. - hope you and the little ones are better soon. I was banished to the couch last night for coughing (actually I like the couch better).

I ran the #520 on a long freight last night with some Woodland Scenics figures hanging along the handrails. That little engine can sure pull. Refilled two lead gons - right behind the engine - with ballast to weigh everything down a bit - otherwise the MPC-era cars are just too light - they easily stringline.  Took the MTH searchlight car out of the consist too- those six wheel trucks do not like 027 curves. I may have to retire this car. Chased but did not catch one of our cats who likes to burrow through the backdrop (and insulation behind it and merrily knock everything down. She collapsed one of my tunnels too. I will try gaff tape to fix everything up hopefully on Wed. night.

JIM, ROCK and RYE is made with rock candy and rye whiskey.  It also has fruit in it and afterwards you can eat the fruit too.  My grandparents and parents gave us this when we were sick.  Just a little half shot and we had to sip it slowly.  I think it would just knock us out for the nite.  Still use it for colds and flu, but in larger quantities.  Doesnt taste like whiskey very sweet. Give it a try.

Jim Trumpie - got your emails, thanks!  I emailed you back - sure I can't send a couple $?

COLD this morning, but warming up nicely.  I'd rather be cold than hot - easier to dress warmer than get cooler in humid St. Louis.  Lots of news stories about pinetar on the tv and radio here in STL!  Got outbid on a log dump car - can't bid on ebay at work, so might lose it - need to check first thing tonight, but son has a cub scout thing tonight.  :(

Getting ready to head out to Cookeville, Tn on Thursday.  I have to go do some fill in work for one of the guys who hurt his back.  About a 7 hour drive, but perhaps I can catch a few train stores on the way.  Don't need anything, but some times, we get lucky with a great find.  Also, the money should be good and I can put that into the "Get out of train restriction" account. Read that: Buy the wife something nice and she will let me buy something niceWink [;)]  Anyway, hope y'all have a great evening and I am sure I will check in prior to leaving.

Just checking ebay - I'm going to lose all 3 items I think - have to go to scouts and 1 is already more than I bid and 2 are right even, so I'm sure somebody will snipe me.  Oh well....  There's more fish in the sea and more Lionel dump cars and sawmills and stuff out there too!

Evening guys.  Interesting conversation about Rock &Rye.  I remember that from college days.  They used to sell an Old Mr. Boston Brand of Rock & Rye - Rock Candy in Rye Whiskey.  It was cheaper that most of the hooch in the local liquor store so we would buy it.  I remember one particular Old Mr Boston hangover that cured me from drinking Rock & Rye.  Haven't touched the stuff in over 30 years.Ashamed [*^_^*]  I get a headache and stomachache just thinking about  it.Dead [xx(]

When I was a teen, I knew a WWI guy who used to drink rock and rye. He also told me stories about loading railway cars for the front. He was in the artillery.

Hey all
Seems York has done me some good.  Cleaned up the goodies and lubed the parts.  The troley runs smooth and well the track cleaner...it runs as well.  Ahh the ozone.  The Fast Track crossing is just great.  I really love that stuff.  Today I started adding some foam for my base and terrain on my layout.  Used some joint compound to add some texture.  Will have to visit the hobby store for some ground cover.

Hope all are having a great week so far.
