Dougdagrump - if you mean does the switch throw if a train comes into it from the "other" direction, then the answer is yes - I've got 4 remote O27 switches that I just bought new on this Halloween layout and while I don't have them powered yet (waiting for my Z10000), they throw when a train enters them from a different direction than that to which they were manually set.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I'm at work on a Sunday night waiting for something to happen. I got called in from a family gathering. No idea when I'll be heading home.

Good to see Jerry back.

CSXJohn, from your posting about your trip to Odd Lots, I would assume you have found something dealing with trains from your past visits.  How about a hint?

Hi Buckeye !! No, I never found too much at Big Lots before, I was just looking there today, as Dennis is always mentioning the stuff he gets there !!  He said they had a ferris wheel there & I was looking for it, but our store doesn't seem to have anything like that !! They didn't even have any of our diecast cars.

Thanks, John

Hey John, they have a Carousel for $49.00 it is the Mr. Christmas and is really a nice looking piece.  Plays all kinds of music (Including Christmas).  They also have some ceramic buildings, and if you go to the back, by the crafts area, they have some different colored sand and some talus.  About $2.00 per bag.

Hope y'all have a good night.

Good evening all,

As beautiful as Saturday was, Sunday was the opposite with it being cold, cloudy and windy.  Spent the day inside running my Santa Fe equipment.  Watched a little bit of the NASCAR race and a little bit of the Colts game.  It was good to have a quiet day.  I was reading the CTT article on the Grand Central Terminal and I saw Roy's name mentioned.  I told my wife, "I know that guy.  He's on the forum."  Nice write-up.  Roger usually does a good job writng.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening,

Still thinking about this last week and what a treat it was. Everything just seemed to fall into place, even with lots of pre planning I was prepared for something to go wrong, but it didn't. I'm glad we were able to be home last night as today has been one of catching up on laundry and phone calls with the kids.

I've been downstairs several times today to see if the new purchases still work (and they do) and try and visualize what I'd like to do in the future with the layout. My thoughts are to expand the current layout with more levels and redo certain parts of it. I'd really like to get rid of all the O31's and do minimums of O72's except in the trolley area. Not sure if that will happen.

Enjoying the World Series but it sure looks cold, I can't imagine how the hitters hands feel when they hit the ball.

Tomorrow will begin the BIG process of getting 5 acres ready for winter. Hard to do the leaves yet as most of them are still on the tree's, hopefully in the next two weeks they will be down.

Seems late and it's only 9:30........ GO DETROIT!!

If you think that food sounded good, you should have seen what he e-mailed me! No-calorie sweets!

Good morning everyone. It poured here last night. Supposed to dry out today though.

A lousy weekend after many good ones. Me and the kids have some virus, along with half the state from the sounds of it.

Gonna be another busy one.

Good morning from Gettysurg. High to be in the mid 50's with winds 20 to 30 mph, maybe the leaves will all blow in my neighbors' yardsWink [;)].

Haven't been on the forum too much as my SIL is here from FL.  As always York was great but as LAZ and I were commenting,  after a while your eyes begin to glaze over and you kick into overdrive and you get into the "I have to see it all mode" and then I am sure I missed some stuff.  I was happy with my purchases.  I got some vehicles for the layout, a '53 T-bird and a '69 Vette, a VW bus and camper, and a Lionelville Divco Milk Delivery van, as well as a '42 Ford pickup . The Ford pick up reminded me of my first vehicle, a '47 Ford pick-up.  I'll save the saga of the '47 Ford for another day (a tale of youthful foolishness, pennywise and dollar foolish).  I also picked up the K-Line Plymouth Switcher and Ore Cars and a Williams GP 9 both decorated for WM.  I also got some paint and replacement parts for some pre-war stuff.  The  worst part is that the Mrs. (and my parents) purchased the bulk of it for Christmas/birthday and I can't even open it or run it.  I tried to explain that I should test it to see if it is OK but she would hear nothing of it.Shock [:O]

Well I must get on the road.  Long day today, I'm on the committee interviewing for a School Pyschologist.

Take care,

Mitch

HI GIZ,

41 and breezy here only to get to 52.

I put in a new turbo smoke unit in my Lionel Mohawk last nite that I purchased from TAS.  It wasn't to bad to put in hooked up all  the wires and tested it, wouldn't work in forward, so changed wire leads around and now it won't work in reverse.  Got to call the TAS GIZ today and ask why it will only work in one direction?   There really isn't that much to hooking the smoke unit up, 3 wires, one hot one ground and one that goes to the cherry switch.  Maybe those GIZ will tell me whats going on?

MITCH, and allthe GIZ at YORK, my eyes are finally getting back to normal, the glaze is fading from all the train stuff.  Had a great time there again.

All have a good one.

Mitch & Laz--

I have to agree about the overload glazed look. The first day was easy, the second one was tougher. I think if we would have taken maybe a two hour break on the second day it would have been easier to keep searching. There are certain buildings I wouldn't spend much time in next time.

Have a good week.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a gloomy, 37 degrees and only going up to 47 today. Good day to stay indoors and work on layout.

I have a few things to do today. Then, I think I will start spending a few hours each day in the train room. That would be nice.

Chief....Hope you enjoyed the cake. Nice talking to you.

It sounds like all of you guys, who went to York, had a good time and now are getting rid of the " glazed over "  look. Good luck.

Well, time to make my way to the Dining Car for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good morning,

Jim,  I had the same problem when my kids were small.  Seemed to get everything that was going around.  Once they hit HS it wasn't nearly as bad.

Greg M., Got my Lackawanna TM about 2 weeks ago, I love it.

Mitch, Maybe you can sneak the stuff out and let her wrap the empty boxes. Big Smile [:D]

Well, off the the fitness center, then need to finish winterizing outdoors, I think the warm weather is over. Thumbs Down [tdn]  Sad [:(]

Good morning all,

It is cold, cloudy and miserable in SE Indiana with temps barely reaching the 40s today.  The entire week is supposed to be lousy with some sunshine possible on Wednesday.  At least "Desperate Houswives" was funny last night.  Not much else to report.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
