Good evening guys,

Another day at York is over and the final one this year for me.  Two days will hold me till April.

Paul B., I assume that you didn't make it to York?

Chuck, Glad to hear that you solved your problems.  I will not make any remarks about your pantographs, that ground has been well covered.

As we did in April, a few of us got together for a short visit and a group picture.  And Laz once again got into trouble with the photographer (my wife, Jean).

So here is the first picture.

And here is the second picture.  You have 5 seconds to find the difference.

From left to Right, Sheryl, Jon, John, Laz, Mitch & Marty.  The signs are by Laz, of course!

I bought quite a few small items, figures, vehicles ( some neat motorcycles with side cars, look like from the 30s) bunch of crates, feed sacks, etc.  Also a coal & fuel yard from Stan's tanks.  The major purchase was a scale williams 5 stripe GG1 in Tuscan & a TAS TMCC system to install in it.  This is the only scale size that I have been able to find that will run on 042 track.  Marty at Ma & Pa gave me an excellent deal on this engine.

Hope I get time to post a few pictures on Sunday.

All have a nice weekend.

"Hey, the Cards beat the Mets last night!!!! I love it. Going to be a great match up tomorrow night. McLain vs. Gibson!"

GO CARDS!
I agree! I grew up in St. Louis and to this day I am a Cards fan– even up here in Alaska. I am looking forward to the series against Detroit. Will this be the year for the Cards to revenge their 1968 World Series loss in 7?  Two pitchers accounted for five wins in seven games Bob Gibson won 2 for the Cards and Mickey Lolich won 3 for the Tigers– unreal pitchers. Game 7 was a show down between Gibby & Lolich with Lolich winning. Curt Flood blew a play in the outfield late in the game letting the game get away from them. Tigers had guys like Al Kaline  (great train name– I knew I could bring baseball & O Gauge together in this post) and Norm Cash (what comes in handy for O Gauge) backing up their pitching with clutch batting in that last game.

The 60's may have not been so great for Lionel but it was a great time to live in St. Louis and be a baseball fan. I still remember three great World Series match ups: '64 Cards beating the Yankees (4-3/Gibson MVP); '67 Cards beating the Red Soxs (4-3/Gibson MVP); and then '68 Cards loosing to the Tigers (3-4/Lolich MVP). Still have my ticket stubs from some of those games.

The '68 series was when Gibson stuck out 17 Tigers in game 1 setting a world series record that still stands (probably will never be broken:) and Denny Mclean was the first pitcher to eclipse 30 wins in a season since Dizzy Dean.  If the Cards had won Game 7 Gibby would have been the MVP for the 3rd time in five seasons. Nonetheless Gibson and Koufax are the only two ball players to win the World Series MVP two times in a career.

I heard the cards and mets game went something like this...
1st 3 quarters ball didn't move past either 40 yard line.
2:00 minute warning buzzer went off, the Mets thought the game was over and went to the locker room.
Four plays later the Cards scored a touchdown and won.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

The sun is shining and it's a cold 35 degrees. Going up to 61 today with mostly sunshine. That's not too bad.

Today, we have company coming, in the afternoon. Wife's niece and friend and her 3 year old. Nice little boy. Likes trains.

Glad all you guys had a good time at York. Pictures look good. Post some pics of the stuff you got there.

The Dining Car is open. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Morning everyone!

"Paul B., I assume that you didn't make it to York?"

John ( Chief Eagles)

No York this year. The kicker is I got a call from the shop & they said the truck runs fine, couldn't find a thing wrong with it.

Original trouble was the truck wouldn't shift out of low range, speedo showed "0", abs light came on.
Thinking speed sensor on transfercase, I wiggled the wires etc. Drove it a couple more times, same problem.
Dealer loaded it on their roll-a-ramp & took it in .Told them while it's there do the state insp & lof.
Service guy said they'd kick or yell at it & see if the trouble comes back.

Anyway, 35 here this morning, sunny.Smile [:)]
Going to go run my NS SD80 Lionmaster a bit .

Chuck, can you summarize what you ended up doing? Wait, that sounds like a school assignment - tell us how you fixed things up.

Good morning from a grey and damp northeastern Illinois. Nice photos, guys, I like the first one better!

Marty, tell me about the trolley you got at York.

Chief, the way they make these washers these days, I couldn't get to the pump anymore - too many electronics in the way. Drat. It was an expensive sock.

Morning all,

I tested out the scale Williams GG1 this morning and it will run on 042 curves, but the overhang is wild.  I had to relocate a barn, water tower and a passenger station which it clipped on the way by on the first time around.  The courves on the other end of the dog bone type layout are -054 so should have no problem there.  Did not run the entire layout as I had to many trains on the layout.

At daughter's now, taking her and granddaughters to lunch while Dad is out deer hunting.

A lot of new stuff in the MTH catalog, hope to see what Lionel has to offer soon.  Atlas & Weaver also have some new stuff.

Have a good weekend,

Doug

It is a PW #60 Trolley.  My dad has one so I though I should have on too.  The funny part is a bought it of a guy who works in a hobby shop near my house.  I think it maybe the one I was going to buy anyways if I didn't find it at York.  It will run under the tree this year with the Polar Express!

Doug Murphy.... I just removed the facing wood from the top of the tunnel portal. I have to make a new piece. Small project. I tested out the GG1 and it cleared by about 3/8 " . So, it will run the entire layout, with the pantograph up. I have a secion that I may try my hand at an overhead power source. Just for fun.

Deputy.... Here is the Williams 14 "  GG1.

It has a True Sound horn and bell.

John ( jefelectric )....Post a picture of your scale Williams GG1.

Morning all.  PennValley, got me on that one.  Been out of the fleet business for a few years and I do NOT keep up with vehicles and their problems like before [use to have all the service bulletins come across my desk to keep up with the service problems].  With ABS coming on too, could be a brake wiring or ABS computer problem.  Then the computer thought you were driving with the brakes on. ????  Keep us informed.  BTW: Tell us more about yourself.  Not much in your bio in your profile.  Chuck, I see you have one leg of your pants up.  Better get them both up before the company comes. I have a question for you and others using the Williams GG1s...do you guys notice a lack of pulling power with the loco? I know the older Lionel GG1s and I think some of the 80s era Williams GG1s had magnetraction. I used to have a Lionel GG1 (not one of the postwar 50's versions, one of the later 80s versions) that had magnetraction and it could pull a load of the Willaims aluminum passenger cars with no problem. I was wondering if the current crop of GG1s and also the steam and diesel locos without magnetraction are handicapped in not having magnetraction?

No, some of the same.  Chevy man, 22 rimfire and now .17HMR.  Worked Ma Bell for 8 years before feeding from the public trough [State Govt].   Well aware of the AT&T and Lucent and downsizing.  Friends did that and been there.  Glad I left as Ma Bell became independant Bells and then did the same.  Just waiting to make the 62 [60 now].  Do the math, 62 and SS is right way to go.  Where do you live?  As you will see, I travel all over the USA [my retired part time job that is almost full time].  Have visited a lot of the gang on here.  Might be by for a visit if there is a Bass Pro Shops, Cablea's or Gander Mountain close by.   Sure glad to have you on the Coffee Pot.

Hi Giz,

Nice to see some new members on the c'pot. Sorry I had to cancel at the last minute on York. Worked looong hours on a major project and the Comcast to Time Warner conversion and upgrade cut me off from the internet this past week. I am leaving tomorrow for the install on the new project. So I will be gone for most of next week also.

Thanks for the compliments on the CTT Lionel layout for GCT. It was a blast. It was cool when Jerry Calabrese and Neil Young stopped by during the GCT install. We go back to the Big Apple in mid-Nov to reinstall the GCT layout.

Have to run. "see" you giz later.

Pennvalley - like the 'rod. I used to have a '49 Willis Jeep P/U with a 265 CI V8 and a '68 Vette. Wish I had time for that, but too many things in the way anymore.

Regards, Roy

I was wondering if the current crop of GG1s and also the steam and diesel locos without magnetraction are handicapped in not having magnetraction?

Dep

Dep......That Williams GG1 has got really good pulling power. Has traction tires, on both trucks. Also, it is got a very low crawl speed. I have had 14 cars on it and it acts like there isn't any at all.
