Mornin' All.

Hope all is well with everybody this day, It is absolutely gorgeous out this morning, beautiful blue sky.

Saw a heck of a buy last nite on E-Bay but maybe I am a tad cynical because it just seemed to good to be true. Supposedly a new Atlas Dash-8 w/TMCC & RS for Buy It Now $138 plus $12 shipping. As if the pricing wasn't curious enuff it was a one day listing with the item located in England.

What's the old saying "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't."

The listing wasn't there this morning.

What ya think, take the Chief out for some REAL Mexican food friday nite, I did ask him if he had a preference, maybe Little Italy. The Padres will be back in town so it don't look like we will get to the Gas Lamp Quarter.

Doug....

What about that Mexican Restaurant just accross from Old Town, on the east side of Old town, can't remember the name but was pretty good.  Better than the one at the nw corner.

Then of course (another place I can't remember the name of) near the sports arena, maybe its on Pacific, I believe the red building that's on the corner.  I'm sure you know where I'm talking about. I think its open 24/7.

Then of course the shows in TJ.

Have Fun.

Oh yeah saw an interesting special on travel channel about a passenger train that did 1 day junkets from SD to Tecate, and included a tour of the brewery.  Looked really great.

Enjoy !!!!!!

Chief ----- Sorry, but unfortunately its going to take more than your medicine to get rain here, the ground may rumble a bit, but I doubt you can get the rain in.  (Would be great for the fires).  While your in Palm Springs, be careful there are a couple of nudist camps in town that actually have a overpass that cross in the downtown area.  Also, if you are there on Thursday evening the market place is really cool in the downtown area.  The main street is closed and its all open markets.  Should be good weather for it if your up to it.

Enjoy the visit!!!    Hope you have a safe trip!!

Doug will take care of you!!   And the SD museum is awesome!!!!

I like layout 1 as well.

Chief have a safe flight.

Put all my trains away today in preperation for the big dig (access hole in the middle).  Since I had to work this weekend I never did get a lot done.  But anyways I'm starting so hopefully next week I'll get some stuff done.  Have a good evening all!

Marty,

We met at the CTT booth in April.  There were only 4 of us. Hope we can get more together this year.  Click on my web site link to see the smiling faces.  Closer to the time we will have to establish a time & place to get together.

Me just see smoke signal from Chief, him say he take big silver bird towards setting sun.

That wasn't the setting sun that was a welcome to Las Vegas sign hoping you'll leave lotsa money there, even if it's just during a layover at the airport.

Hopefully Mother Nature will be kind while he is here, couple of real warm & windy days but it is supposed to die down til the weekend maybe. When the Santana Winds aren't blowing this is one of the nicest parts of the year, very pleasant during the day and cool enuff at night for comfortable sleeping. Hopefully he won't get rock-n-rolled out of bed by a quake or two.

Hey Doug, see if Chief can ward off La Llorna with grits!  He might hear her crying in the night, you know!  Congrats again Don - you should really have some fun now deciding which layout to build!  Just FYI in case anyone hasn't heard, but that Baby Abby who was stolen in St. Louis has been found safe and is back with her mom, who is recovering from the attack.  The perpetrator had a miscarriage and stole this baby.  Her sister noticed makeup and found the birthmark, then got the baby to the police.  Missed out on a Gold Rush Handcar set from K-line on ebay last night.  I put in my max bid and finally decided it was as much as I was willing to pay.  Got beat  by about $2.50.  Oh well, already have the other handcar set (copper, I think) and it was essentially the same one.  I was going to see if I could replace the guys with skeletons and make a Halloween set out of it.  Been working Saturdays and on the basement on Sundays, so haven't done any train work like repaiting the gondola etc yet.  Need to get a move on.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

MartyE We had talked a while back about having a Coffee Pot Photo Friday afternoon at the CTT booth when LAZ gets there.  I believe LAZ is only coming for a half day on Friday... I think we said maybe 2:30 or was it 3:00?   Will you be there??  I think I am coming with the Mrs on Thursday (if I can convince to make the trip).  On Friday a buddy of mine is going to meet me.

LAZ is that correct???? only a half day on Friday for you?

Last time LAZ had a great time with the old Bunny ears trick. I was the victim being that I am short enough that I have to jump up to kick a gnat in the butt and LAZ of course was in the back row...  I'll be sure plot out some sort of fiendish revenge.

I hope Jonadel can make the photo shoot.  We'll see if Roy can make it. Jefelectric,  LAZ, and I were there last time along with the CTT staffers Bob and Kent.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning, boys.

I dodged out of here at 9:45 yesterday and had a visit with Dr. Tinker. He was in a talkative mood, so I hung out with him while he pulled orders. I got a few repair parts for my $30 2056 and headed home. I had planned to go to Northeast Trains, but decided I didn't really want to. I didn't want the voice of temptation whispering in my ear! Another day, perhaps.

I'm in the dog house with the wife. I had a tree cut down yesterday that was way too close to the house. She wanted it to stay, and accused me of doing it behind her back. Stupidly, I replied that I told her upfront the tree was coming down, end of story. Needless to say, I had a swell evening. Uhh, yeah . . .

Have a nice day, everyone.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s heading to the 60s today.  It was cool last night at the soccer games.  The varsity girls lost 4-0 and the JV lost 3-0.  The boys lost 4-0 as well.  It was a long evening.  Lucas seems to be doing better with the cough, but he still was hacking a lot last night.  I hope the Chief has a good trip out west.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a real cool morning of only 50 degrees. Going up to a cloudy 68.

Today is grocery shopping day again. Yuk. The prices keep creeping up. Gas is down to $1.99 a gallon in Cambridge. Here in Caldwell, it is still at a $ 2.38 a gallon. What a ripoff.

I may run trains later, as the weather is not too attractive. I love being outside but also love running trains. Hmmm.....Outside trains.

Well, off to the Dining Car. See ya later.

Y'all have a great day.

Morning guys,

Had a long day yesterday with a most difficult case.  Patient is doing fine today which in the end run, we can only do so much as our training has taught, but it is the big guy upstairs that has the final say.  I am humbled.  On the train front, last night, my bride and the kids and I went to Hobby Lobby.  They are clearing out a bunch of discontinued train landscape items, so you may want to check your local HL.

Laz, I saw the show you are speaking of, it was good and I will look for more episodes.  It was cool with lots of british engines.

Hey guys,  thanks again for all the well wishes and comments, I am leaning toward Layout #3, primarily because it has a good Engine yard area available which will accomodate the larger Engines.

The Chief should have made it to PS, assuming he didn't loose it all in Vegas.  But ehere are pleny of Casinos in PS now as well.  I would go down to SD and hook up with Doug and Chief on Friday but my MIL is having surgery on Friday, and need to stay here and run the office while the wife is at the hospital.

Marty do you EVER get any week-ends off?  The schedule and travel have got to be really toughh for you and your family.

Sure envy you guys going to York, maybe next year.  Which show is better spring or fall, or are they about the same?

Jim is it too late to plant a rose bush where the tree was, as you originally planned?  (Still think about Lucas a lot, glad he is doin so well)

Laz, Where do you do Salmon fishing in PA?  Christmas at York, what could be better?

Oh Yeah, Jefelectric, you suggested that my aisle ways looked a little narrow.   What you missed is that the layout is 42" high, and since my critical mass is centered around 34" to 38" in height I shouldn't have a problem. Smile [:)]

Doug, Did you gain any layout space as a result of the garage remodeling?  I assume it is probably all back together.  I know I still get nervous about our son driving especially with other kids in the car, but he has been pretty lucky and done fairly well.  I need to come up with a stick shift somewhere to teach him to drive a standard xmission, probably will have to rent one.

Chuck You think $2.38 is a rip-off, I just paid $2.65 last night and thought I got a great deal.  These darn taxes is what is really hurting us.   You would think they could put a sliding scale on some of the taxes when the price gets real high.  As it is now structured the state and county gov'ts get a windfall when the price of gas goes up.

Enjoy your day all  !!

Good morning from a sunny and cool Chicago. Got my computer home last eve. Funny it took me 2 hours to drive in and only 45 minutes to get home ('course the latter was at 8 pm). Visiting the daughter's teachers at the high school tonight - more likely going through her schedule along with thousands of other parents. Have a good day all.

Don, fortunately, the garage and car survived. Still have plenty of space in the basement. Our gas down to $2.47 and I'm  happy to find it at that with all the taxes here too.

Dennis, I notice our local Hobby Lobby carries little O anymore since K-Line's demise. A smattering of HO and the scenic stuff is all. Just down to HobbyTowne USA locally - and their prices are breathtaking - here it's most R/C stuff.

Good morning! It's really beginning to feel like fall in Dixie. The temperature was 55 when I left the house this morning. High today only in the upper 70s and very low humidity. Beautiful weather. Of course, down here we'll still have a number of warm, humid days before it really turns cool, but summer seems to be at an end.

We picked up the new dining room set my wife bought last night. We really got a steal of a deal on it! Looks great in the dining room, but I've definitely lost space for my large Christmas layout. Wife is trying to help me come up with plan B. Neither of us want it around the tree, so we may need to rearrange some furniture in the den this year to accomodate a smaller, floor version of "Christmas in Dixie."

Here's a shot of last year's effort:

DON,

Laz, Where do you do Salmon fishing in PA?  Christmas at York, what could be better.

I go to Pulaski NY.  The salmon river is a tributary of Lake Ontario.  Biggest one I caught there was in '93 it weighed 36 lbs. and was 43 inches long.  We can catch salmon in Eire Co. but for the same distance it takes me to travel I 'd  rather go to Pulaski, bigger and more fish.

Talk about rushing Christmas, at work I noticed they put Christmas light sets on the shelves last night and this morning were setting up the wire framed yard statue displays.  What happened to Thanksgiving and everything else after Labor Day?

Picked up all the elctrical materials I need for the layout job, I'll start installation Friday.

Morning or is it noon???? Gotto bed at 4:30 AM PDT [7:30 EDT]. No fault of US Airways. Best flight I've had. FREE upgrade to first class for 5 hour flight. Loved it. This place [Indian Wells] is part of the long line of resorts around Palm Springs. Only thing is, this big fancy hotel charges for internet time. Unbelievable. Charging it to the company. Beautiful place. Mountains all around. Everyone wants a tip. Don, hate we can't connect. If you do, will be there in the PM. Doug, where is the rain????? I always bring rain.
