Good Evening everyone.....

It was a beautiful day today. After the fog lifted at noon, the sky was clear and the sun was out until it set. Stayed outside all day. Now it's suppose to rain the rest of the week.

Shouldn't be any flight delays as no going through Charlotte nor Philly.  Direct RDU to Los Vegas.  4 hours and 47 minutes.  Big thing is 2 1/2+ hour layover in Vegas.  Talked to Dougsnotagrump and I think we will hook up on Friday.  Not but about 2 1/2 hours drive.  Easy to find he says.  Will be great to visit the left bank guy.  Wonder which direction the trains run on a left bank layout???? Well, got wire through another section of the basement for outlets.  Need to go around the room, 2 more walls, and that's done.  Then run wires for the light fixtures.  Char helped me move stuff out of the way so I could get at the walls, then she cleared off my workbench and started in on the insulation - She got 4 rolls done (about 16 sections)!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Be careful of that layover in Lost Wages, they have slot machines in the airport. Blindfold [X-)]

Checked out the roads and it will be longer in mileage but I think much shorter timewise to stick to the freeways.

Remember out here sometimes they run in both directions. Blindfold [X-)]  Whistling [:-^]  Grumpy [|(]

Hello all!

Been really busy the last week and weekend so no time to post.

Working from very early each morning to late each night. Hope it comes to a close soon so I can get back to normal.

Did get out yesterday and bought a used Taurus for my daughter to drive. After the wheel incident in the SUV, we decided a nice cheap car that is lower to the ground is what was in order.

Hope all are doing well!

Have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Good morning to all.  Like Roy, I have been pretty busy with going away for a few days over last weekend and home project.  Spent the better part of Saturday afternoon and part of Sunday replacing a toilet that was leaking.  Somehow when we bought a toilet (to replace a really ugly Williamsburg blue 1970's toilet that was original to our house), we did not realize that we needed a toilet for 10 inch rough opening.  The first replacement toilet was a 12 inch model. Needless to say, we could never get the seal to align properly becasue the flange in the floor as abot an inch to close to the wall. I was not able to find a 10 inch toilet at the local humongous home centers.  Finally had to drive about 50 miles to find one that would work.  It really was a crappy weekend, replacing the Censored [censored] crapper....  The rest of the day was spent cutting grass and straightening a bent tie rod on the lawn tractor...Banged Head [banghead]

Tonight is the last of the Back to School Nights.  No more late nights for a while after tonight.  Tomorrow night the Mrs. wants me to swap out the other really ugly Williamsburg blue 1970's version toilet that is in our main bathroom with the one that we took out over the weekend.  I know what you are thinking... and yes I already measured, and the toilet that was in the other bathroom will fit.

The moral of the story is that you should always measure before you buy....  hence no train time for me until at least Wednesday.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning, boys. Below are some photos (hopefully) of my new post war beauties. A 2056 and 2055.
ab_1.jpg
d5_1.jpg

We had a super weekend. Saturday was supposed to be rainy, so I planned to take the kids to Manchester, NH to Mountain Trains. They have a big layout there. Anyway, the sky was sunny, so my wife said to just keep going north up to the White Mountains. We took the kids to Clark's Trading Post, and as luck would have it, it was Train Day! Every locomotive the place had was running, and one admission price allowed unlimited rides. I thought the kid's heads were going to explode with excitement. All kinds of motive power up there, all in like-new shape. We road in flatcars, a caboose, and a gondola. What a blast! Cab rides were offered, but I was tuckered out. We also saw a trained bear show, and toured some interesting displays. Several featured old pre and post war Lionels, including some standard gauge stuff. A local club had a layout set up and running. Talk about luck! We had 3 exhausted but very happy kids Saturday night! Sunday, family came over for a chicken dinner after church. Another great time and the perfect end to a great weekend. Have a great day, everyone. Jim

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 60 degrees and going yp to 83 today. Thunderstorms later.

jaabat...Glad you liked the e-mail.  Funny.

Today is Monday and this month is going fast. I hate to think of winter. But at least we can run trains instead of cutting grass. More time to work on layouts. I bet we even do some benchwork. I will. Nice 20 foot extention with a passing siding. Then I will build some shelves to store trains on. Thinking of putting them in as skirting from the table top to the floor. I saw that once and it looked good. Has to be in a nice viewing place.  I will be moving my work bench to another area, so I have a lot more room for trains.

The Chef just arrived and opened the Dining Car. All aboard. Later

Y'all have a great day.

Jim--

I also use the far superior Mac computer and use Shutterfly to store my photo's. The current forum software will not recognize Safari or IE to post pic's, that seems odd to me. I downloaded Firefox and have had luck using it to post pics but it becomes very tedious to toggle back and forth between two browsers just to post pics. I would best describe the new software as "peculiar", and that's the politically correct description.

I may have to switch to Firefox. I think it might be mandatory here soon anyway.

Gas was $2.29 a gallon yesterday. I was amazed at how long the lines were to fill up. Fortunately, I was at the beginning of those lines! Soon we'll be grabbing our ankles for the heating fuel companies . . .

Good morning, all!

Jim, oddly enough, I've had better luck posting pics with IE than Firefox. The other day, I was unable to post any pics using Firefox. Started over with IE and no problem. Later, I had no trouble using Firefox. Go figure!?! Banged Head [banghead]

Good morning from a pretty cool and grey Chicago where seeing a Rio Grande "The Action Road" covered hopper in front of the Blommer Chocolate siding has made my day. It doesn't take much I guess. I saw a Cotton  Belt one there last week. Not much variety anymore with the UP.

Speaking of driving, the bride got the bright idea to let the daughter drive my little beater car into the garage after they got home from church last night: I had left it in the driveway. Next thing I hear is a series of crashes as she mistakes the gas for the brake, sideswipes everything off the garage wall and smacks into my son's mightily expensive bike. Then they both leapt out of the car yelling at me. Maybe it was the look I gave them. No real harm done, apart from cleaning up and pulling a mangled scooter out from underneath.

Think I have some little critters in the basement. Gotta get some new traps. Have  a good trip, Chief.

Jim, where did you go for your day of riding in the White Mountains? You must've been tired to beg off a cab ride.

White Mountain Central R.R. at Clark's Trading Post, Doug. They had 4 or 5 steamers, a 44 tonner done up in Army livery, an antique rail bus, speeders, and who knows what else. We rode them all at least twice. At the very end of the day, we were offered a cab ride in a Baldwin, but I was dead on my feet, starved, and soaked from a stint on a water ride. Below is the link:

http://www.clarkstradingpost.com/

I guess links don't work for me.

On a scale of 1-10, we had a 12 of a day. I wanted to gawk at all the old Lionel's they had, but my kids wanted see the real stuff. Who can blame them?

I hope they remember that day as long as I will. Seeing them that happy is what it's all about for me.

Good morning all,

It is rainy and cool in SE Indiana with temps heading into the 70s.  Temps are supposed to drop and stay in the 60s most of the week.  I reffed two games on Saturday without too many incidents.  I did have to call my cousin's daughter for an offsides call.  I washed all three vehicles on Sunday as the weather was nice.  I did get to run the 384E and the 10E Sunday night as well as a little running on the O-27 stuff as well.  Lucas has a bad cough and did not take chemo today.  They said it could wait a week until he felt better.  I hope every one has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Just back from my almost-daily walk. It's a warm one out there today. All of 85 degrees as predicted. No walk tomorrow though. I'm planning a trip down the street to Dr. Tinker's to pick up some train parts and maybe, just maybe a trip to Northeast Trains.

I need to walk more and eat less. The waistline is starting to get tight.

Laz and John and you other PA guys--

We are making final plans for the York trip and I think we are going to stay in Hanover and drive in for the meet, it doesn't look that far. I know I asked this about month or more ago and it had to do with Antitum (sp) and somebody gave a wonderful reply with a link and of course being Mr. Short Term Memory I can't remember the details. Can someone help me out here? We plan on being in PA and York country at the beginning of the week and want to do as much as possible before the meet. Thanks for any advice you can share, I promise not to misplace this info again.

To Jon and all the other York attendees please do a favor for those who are not able to attend. If you see any exhitors who carry K-Line replacement parts please get their names, phone #'s, e-mail / web addys etc. It seems as though they are getting a little scarce, not the dealers but the parts.Sad [:(]         Grumpy [|(]

Good evening,

I'm surprised that we have not had any comment from the guys at CTT about all the software comments on the pot. I assume that they use the same software for all of the forums. I post occasionally on Classic Trains & Trains forums and have not noticed much comment on the software there. Maybe I haven't read the right threads but I have not seen it. Is it just us? The intermittent nature of some problems is really puzzling. The only problem, if it is a problem, that I have had is the inability to copy and paste pictures as some of you can do. I have to use the img commands. Any computer experts out there with an idea what is going on?

Till later,

Good Evening Everyone !! Just saw on the news, that in Cleveland, they want to extend The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic RR to downtown. About 8 more miles of track that CSX owns if they would free it up. That runs from Akron up to almost Cleveland now. They are booked up already for this winters Polar Express rides, & in fact, you had to get in on their lottery to get a ticket this year. They may have this in place by 2008.

John :(Jeffelectric) CTT guys probably don't do all the stuff we do on here !! I don't think they post pictures like us & other things, but what do I know !! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D] I am able to use copy & paste though. I was highlighting the URL & then clicking copy, but that was wrong, just put the mouse on the pic. in Shutterfly & hit copy, & paste it to the message box, I found !!

Ok, hope everyone has a nice evening & let's all keep our eyes peeled for K-line parts for Doug !! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]
