Evening ----
Can't believe it our football team won!  30-13 at that.  The coach sure has a rough way to go, parents don't have much positive to say about him, the booster club, doesn't and worse of all the team doesn't either.  We had about 7 or 8 of the kids over for a sleep over, and I over heard the kids talking maybe if they had another "bad" season the school would get rid of him.  And when I hear the kids talk they get each other pumped up and decide to Hell with coach let's do it for us.    SAD  Sad [:(]

Tomorrow morning guys are coming out to put a finish coat on the exterior wall that becomes the interior room wall in our train room.  Took a week for me to get him here.  But at least its happening! So all in all probably a pretty busy day Friday.

Wife spending most of time with MIL due to surgery, it isn't all that serious but boy is everyone worried,  probably will cause a tremor out here with all the nervousness.  Its  only an hour procedure, clearing  out some arteries.  Maybe  I'm just not sensitive enough, don't see what the big deal is, but definetely don't want to say anything.  I know better, been married for 27 years so some subjects are just better left alone.

Can't believe received 2 train magazines in 2 days.  Usually the CTT is a a good 4 or 5 days longer getting out here after you guys start talking about receiving it, unusual!

Very little time available with new room, will have Saturday then that's it  until middle of  next month.
Sad [:(]Sad [:(]Sad [:(]   But  it's  there.

Have a great day!! Happy Friday!!!

Good morning, everyone.

I also received my CTT yesterday. Looks like a great issue.

ModelTrainLover, I don't really swear at and hit my kids. That was a politically incorrect joke (my favorite kind).

I reluctantly worked on layout scenery last night. Lately I'm just not interested in that aspect of the hobby. I'm much more inclined to run trains. But I did manage to get a lot accomplished and the layout is finally almost fully scenic-ed. It's no award winner, but it's ours and the kids love it.

New driveway being installed tomorrow and a kids birthday party on Sunday.

Doug and Frank, have a great time together! Treat him right Doug. The Chief is a good guy!

I hope everyone has a safe, pleasant weekend.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 53 degrees and trying to get sunny. Going up to 71 today and a chance of rain late this afternoon.

Yes, Don, this is Talledega weekend. Restricter plates and battered cars. The older guys are having a hard time this year.

Today, I am taking one of the " boys " to the Vet for his annual shot and that will take care of them for this year. It looks like I may have to cut some grass today or at least start the weekly cycle. It isn't growing as fast as it was.

Time to visit the Dining Car for breakfast. See ya later.

Y'all have a great day.

Chuck

p.s.  Where is Buckeye !!!!!!! AND , DON, Talledega is not until October 8th.  This weekend is Dover. I stand corrected.

p.s.s.....ALSO.....I got my issue of CTT today !!!!!!!!!!!

John,

Got my OGR the other day, nice, especially the part about making the brick wall out of foam., but as usuall, highly slanted toward MTH.  Have not received the CTT yet, but am looking forward to it.  Anyone know if CTT is going to have any sweepstakes entries again soon?

Jon, thanks for the suggestion.  I agree, it would be better to get going on the benchwork.  I hope to have it done before the CHief gets his done, but I guess I have a long time before that happens.Black Eye [B)]  Have a great day everyone.  Our family is off to Savannah for a long weekend to celebrate the anniversary and wife's birthday.

Good morning from a wet and dreary Chicago where I can in early to work just to ride a certain train with a friend - what was I thinking?  Ran trains with the youngest yesterday afternoon; finally got sick and tired of a 'jog' I put in the mainline to be clever - which derails long trains at speed. So I took it out; that led somehow to my tearing up the inner yard I'd been threatening to do for a long time. Guess if it rains this weekend, I'll be puttering around with track again. Isn't this hobby great or what?

Hope Chief and Doug are sunning themselves out west.
Laz, I want to see a picture of some fish.
Jim, I share your sense of humor.
Nice MEC timetable!

Good morning,

Colby,  what is the date on the time table?  Looks to be in good shape.

John, enjoy your time off.

Chuck, I used to be an avid Nascar fan, but as the older drivers have retired I seem to have lost interest.  Guess that is another sign of old age.  I can actually remember when Richard Petty was winning races.  Followed bill Elliot later, and when he retired I guess I did too.

Laz, are you going to miss the Gratz fair to go fishing, what are you thinkingQuestion [?]   Laugh [(-D]  Laugh [(-D]

Well it is Jean's day off so we will be leaving to go shopping shortly, going to pick up an older friend who lost her husband not long ago and take her to lunch and shopping as well.

Enjoy the weekend.

Good morning!

The CTT arrived in the mail yesterday. Thumbed through it this AM with my coffee. Looks like a great issue! I especially enjoyed the story on the prewar layout and the Marx display layout that was restored. After all, the magazine is Classic TOY Trains. (Highrailers, I like your stuff too, so don't get ruffled Wink [;)] ). Also liked Neil's article on the 2026 - one of my favorite locomotives. I have a later 2-6-4 version and I'm keeping my eye out for an earlier 2-6-2.

Nice weather, a bit warmer this morning - somewhere in the mid-50's. We went to the county fair last night for a while. Not much in the way of displays anymore and I don't care about the rides. Mostly politicians trying to put a sticker on you. Came on home early and watched CSI. Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning all,

It is rainy and mild in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 70s today.  Last night was a strange soccer game.  The other team played defense only for the first 75% of the game.  After they switched goalies, then they started to play offense as well.  Talking to one of the players for our team afterward, she said the other team did the same thing on their home field as well.  We won 1-0 so it worked ok for us.  The JV team tied 0-0 and the boys got pounded again 9-0.  Lucas had his first tutoring session in a few weeks, and it went well.  I am looking forward to new issue of CTT when it gets here.  I hope everyone has a good day and weekend.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hummmmm! I posted last night and it did not appear. Nice show on PBS on the Alaska RR last night.

Temps have zoomed up last night and it is suposed to be hot and muggy. I am going on a Boy Scout campout this weekend. We will be working on the shotgun merit badge. Should be fun for the guys.

Have a great day all!

Can't believe I blew it by that much.  I was reading some newsletter from Scene, about who is driving at Dega, and track conditions, and convinced myself it was this weekend.  Actually, I'm glad it isn't until the 8th, I will have more time to watch it then.

Unfortunately, the Chief maybe in for some unpleasnat weather.  On the news this morning we got Santa Ana winds coming in this afternoon, and will be around all weekend.  The winds could be up to 60mph, especially in the desert areas.  The temps today are in the 70's, and tomorrow between 87-to low 90's.
Driving in the area around Palm Springs, I have had windshields sand blasted, and doesn't do a cars paint job any good either.  But he is in a rental I'm sure.  The Chief will be driving through the Banning area which is slightly NW of PS to connect to the hwy to SD.  That area has had sifnificant fires within the past month, and now the winds.  With any luck he shouldn't have a problem given the time of day he will be going through there, (night).  The wind is usually the worst in mid-late afternoon.
If he has any grits with him they will definetly be dried.

John (jefelectric)  I too was an avid Nascar fan when the old guys were running.  Saw Fireball Roberts, once.  Today the races are too sanitized, and the cars are all the same.  Not near the fun it used to be.  But, I still marvel getting that many cars together at speeds around 180, and less than inches apart.  And the roar is always chilling to me.

Good Day All   -

No noontime walk today either. Very busy here lately. I guess that's a good thing.

Here's a definite good thing. A co-worker just called me from Connecticut. She wanted to know if I wanted a stash of her father's old trains. Absotively free. I said sure. She's bringing them in on Monday. The parents just want to get rid of them. Schweeeeet!

Jim ( jaabat )....That brings back memories. I used to rebuild those Quadrajets and have a spare for my Chevy on the shelf.

John ( jefelectric ).... I used to like the different cars that were racing, such as real Chevys, Fords and Plymouths. You could tell the difference.

Wow!  What a busy week.  On Monday and Tuesday I was standing on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River that protects us from the rascals and on Thursday was looking at Lake Erie, where we beat off a bunch of rascals in the early 1800's.

Roy, are you doing rifle and shotgun merit badge with the scouts?  I used to be the instructor for a camp's rifle and shotgun ranges.

I've tried calling the Chief, but he never answers.  I think he is mad at me.........again!

I spent 6 hours today wiring the layout I've contracting for.  Another 3 hours next Friday and we should be able to test run an engine/train.  Next step will be hooking up the switches and signals.

Was difficult trying to get the owner to understand that when the switches are wired with aux. power the operation of the switch is totally independent of track power.  With the number of signals he has at least 1/3 of the track in insulated sections, had to modify a good number of standard Flextrack sections.to insulated.  At least he didn't change his mind too many times as I progress around the room.  Glad its on an hourly basis rather than a total job.  I think I may end up doing buildings and landscaping before its over.

Looks like I'll be able to get that Nikon D70s that I've been saving for sooner than expected.Big Smile [:D]

Evenin' All !

Chief made it to the museum and got the two bit tour, but the tour guide was a little(?) goofy. Oh, wait a minute I was the tour guide. He is probably on his way home just shakin his head, today was NOT a good day. Between some switch problems maybe some electrical/signal issues this would have been an excellent day to declare a mulligan and request a do-over. Blush [:I] Dead [xx(]

Buckeye, I don't know if your calls(?) were received or not, sometimes reception in there absolutely sucks. I believe he enjoyed the visit and the quick tour of the embarcedero before a nice mexican dinner. Lotsa refried beans with dinner for his flight home tomorrow, hope they don't have to make any unplanned landings for noxious fumes in the cabin.

Oops [oops] Blush [:I] Laugh [(-D]

Long day, feet are tired so are my eyes so it is time to turn this off and listen to the ball game.

Nite All !

P.S.  Chief, Enjoyed the visit, come again y'all !

Good Morning Everyone !!  Sounds like Doug & The Chief had some fun !!

Well, got one part of my new section in & even got the video thing figured out again. It wasn't my camera giving me all the problems, just the program, & host. Boy, it isn't easy trying to run the train & blow the horn & focus the camera & all, all at once !! I still have to make some benchwork in that area, as you'll see my tripod is holding it up yet. I wanted to show how the tripod comes in handy & in the past, I've used 2 tripods to hold a long run up there, while I build it in. Hard to explain, but they can be handy for this type of unconventional layout building !!  Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 65 degrees ( warmed up ), going up to 75 and rain. It looks like that's the forecast for the next 2 days.

Today is a good day to run trains. I have a few things to do, and then I will spend a few hours in the train room enjoying myself.

I'm glad Chief had a nice visit in CA. Safe flight home. Don't go over Ohio, we have enough gas here. Speaking of gas, the price keeps falling and it's cheaper in Cambridge than Caldwell , still.

Looks like a lot of guys are going to the Oct. 7th Show. That's great.

It's " All Aboard " for the Dining Car. Breakfast on the way.

Y'all have a great day.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 66 deg with overcast skies and rain on the way.

Good to be home again. We were back in Grand Rapids for the last two days. Did see another Hobby Shop, but it was closed when we went by. Will be sure to stop there on our next trip, which will be in two weeks.

You mean Chief took a trip and didn't complain about the Airline! ! !

BTW - did Chief notice how a layout look when its not on the floor !

Good morning everyone,

Nothing planned for here today, so far. But, since it started to rain, I guess the neighborhood football game will have to be cancelled. Have to call my cousin, as he is moving to England to attend the top Economics school in the world.

We might go out to dinner as a family as school has been in session for about 3 weeks now. Wow, doesn't seem like it. School is going well, and I have many good teachers.

I haven't been doing anything on the layout lately, but since I got my CTT on Thursday, I might try to work on it a little bit this weekend. Those scenery tips, and techniques are really going to help me create the realistic scenery that I want on my layout.

   csxt30 I like the video.

Talk to you all later,

Colin
