Hi all!

Back from Denver and LCCA. Had a great time!

Hot here and really dry. Watering restrictions are going to get worse. Back part of my foundation has sunk about 2 inches and m house is badly sagging. Watering foundation is not working as my entire yard has sunk and I cannot water it.

The TMCC II demo was pretty interesting, especially since I got to be a part of it in front of about 400 folks! I did a portion of the demo where you change out a TMCC I R2LC board to a TMCC II R4LC board to upgrade a TMCC I loco to TMCC II (Legacy). It is a direct drop in. Pretty neat! One of my buddies got to operate the new Legacy Cab controller for the demo so George is the first person in the world (outside of CTC folks - the guys that are inventing it for Lionel) to operate TMCC II. I guess I am the first person in the world to perform a Legacy upgrade. Lou Kovach, COO of CTC (Creative Trains Company) is a really great guy and we got to spend some time together at the convention in addition to discussing the future of the hobby and TMCC II directions.

Also got to spend significant time with Ed Boyle from OGR. What a hoot! Just like the CTT folks, Ed is a great guy and it was nice to get his perspective on the present state and future of the hobby. Ed was very complimentary of the CTT team and we discussed how the OGR and CTT magazines fill their particular niches in the industry.

The day after the Legacy demo, I drove 7 of us, including Ed and Lou out to Mizell Trains in Westminster and we had a great time visiting with Warren Mizell and his crew. As a result of the Mizell visit, there may be an interesting Collectors Gallery article coming in a future OGR issue assuming the photos come out OK.

If any of you are ever out in Denver, make sure you visit Mizell's and Caboose Hobbies. Wow! If I lived in Denver I would be broke from wandering in those shops every week.

So in one interesting week I made some great new friends in the hobby, became a TMCC Legacy pioneer, and maybe an OGR photographer.

More later. I had hoped to write up my TMCC II observations, but I have to go on another trip (Orlando) Wed and I may not have the time.

Regards, Roy

Roy - sounds like you had a great trip trip Denver and the LCCA Convention. I have been to Denver a couple of times but never to Mizell's or Caboose Hobbies.  Maybe next time.  It would be great if you had photos published in OGR.

Chief - tell us (or show us) what was in the package - must be good if you admitted there were some good YankeesEvil [}:)]

Hot as blazes here today,  to be worse tomorrow and Wednesday.  Thursday I am talking a day off  to go to Lancaster again.  My wife and a friend are going to Sight and sound to see a musical production. I will go to Choo Choo Barn, PA Railroad Museum in Strasburg, or TCA Museum.  We will probably have lunch and/or dinner in Lancaster.

Take care,

Mitch

Man Chief!   I just don't know where to begin with this picture?????
I want to quote Jeff Foxworthy, but his major quote was :
"You might be a Redneck if you have 5 cars on your property but the only thing mobile was your home!"
But it just doesn't fit!!!!!
By the way I have more country CD's than anything else so this Yankee has decent taste in Music.  Just got the new Rascal Flats; Me and My Gang!

The vehicle is my daily driver. There's a layout in the mid section (not on the floor either). I had to remove the heart-shaped water bed to make the layout fit, which ticked of the wife, but the kids love it.

This is actually an old photo. We've since upgraded the cottage with the addition of a rusty but reliable charcoal hibachi stove on the front stairs. Also, the bath tub was moved indoors to protect bathers from 800 lb. bears roaming about. Aside from that, I think the only thing not visible is my bass boat that you showed everyone a few weeks ago. Life is good!

Keith,

We went through the same thing here in MA back in May. Terrible flooding then that we are still cleaning up from. It rained much of May and then almost all of June. I can surely sympathize with your frustration and anxieties regarding the rains. I wish you and my other friends in the area the best. Just remember, this too shall pass. Send the rain to Roseyville!

Only 49 weeks until we head back to our luxurious cabin by the lake!

Good morning all,

Nice pic Chief, I about died lauging when I saw it.  And nice reply Jim.  Hope all have a good one today.  I am knee deep in my layout design, well maybe ankle....?  Annyhow.  By the way I wanted to warn all our southern brothers that I will be making a raid into North Carolina on the 12th for a week.  As far as country music goes...dont all of us Pennsylvanians listen to that?  I didnt know there was another type of music.  O well I suppose now we all have one thing in common.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Big Smile [:D]

Good morning all,

It is hot, humid and miserable in SE Indiana today with the temps already in the high 70s (!) and heading to the 90s again.  Chief, I liked the picture of the mobile home and the limo.  I have seen similar situations not far from where I live in real life.  I stayed home with Lucas last night while my wife went to Bloomington to see the new grandson.  As soon as they send me some digital pictures, I will try to post on the forum.  Lucas ate ok yesterday and went to bed early again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  trainmasterz, where in NC are you coming?  Near Raleigh?  Hot [around 100] and humid.  Suppose to be just as hot tomorrow.  Thinking of servicing Pam's car as she rode in with a friend of ours. Question [?]  Maybe too hot to mess with rotating tires.  Easy to change the oil and fliter.  Probably.  Got to haul some limbs to the pond woods for a widow lady and pick garden.  Need to run some trains.  Layout planning, I have to do second level.  Have a great day and don't get too hot [think the whole country is in a heat wave].  Later and God bless.

    Morning all,

Chief, I have been wanting one of those packages too.  I emailed Bob K to see where to get one and they don't have anymore.  He suggested going to the MFG, but no luck there either.  I will keep my eye out for one.  For those whose wife gets Southern Living, with the Georgia living section, they have a nice story on the Roundhouse museum in Savannah in the last issue.  Has several nice photos and a nice story of how they have art students who are doing the building restoration.

Well, gonna be a busy day at work, so I best get on with it.  I have several need to do projects at home, but I doubt I can get to it today, and then, I have some benchwork to get on to.  At least the benchwork will be indoor work, the rest is in the heat of the day, outdoors.Dead [xx(]

I just typed a 4 paragraph # and I went to post it and it told me there was an error. so

Cheif, I am bringing the tribe down to Buxton for a week, which is by far my favorite place in the world.  My parents used to take us there every summer for 2 weeks up untill 1995, Ive been there 4 times since.  For annyone wanderin "where in the heck is Buxton?"  It is the pointiestout part of NC on the right hand side.  So Chief you dont have to worry about anyone with "nawthern" plates driving like a wildman (al-la Buckeyes School of Driving) too close to ya yet.  However we are going to be a little closer (not much) when we come down I-77 for our trip to Orlando (the last 2 weeks of Sept.)  Too bad you dont live closer to the interstate we coulda planned a pit stop.  We will see how Little Buddy does on this trip first, we are planning on leaving in the evening that way they will fall asleep eventually and hopefully miss the majority of the drive.  Destiny was an angel when we came down 2 years ago.

Chief, I imagine you know where Research Triangle Park is, from what Ive seen there are alot of good jobs there and the cost of living is good too down there.  Maybe someday....   Must be all that sweet tea.  What brand do you drink by the way?

Wife just told me she found round trip tickets to Orlando for the 3+infant of us for Sept for $411.00   I figure by the time we add gas money + 2 nights stay + eating + snacks + being on the road for 40 hours..... it will be cheaper to just fly.  Im thinking this is a good deal?

    Howdy, everyone!

Like everyone else, we're dealing with the heat and humidity here in central Alabama. Wife and daughter are at the time share condo down in Orange Beach, AL, so at least they're enjoying the ocean breezes (between thunder storms, anyway). Too much going on this week for me to head down there. Sad [:(] Oh, well.

If we don't have stormy weather this afternoon, I'll finish spreading pine straw in the flower beds. Grass has greened up nicely with the recent rains.

Too hot for trains. Looking forward to the fall and cooler weather.

Trainmasterz : you only live about a 100 miles from me. Some of the other forum members live about 40 miles west of me, near Cleveland. I think there's a real famous hobby shop in your area I always wanted to visit, though I forgot the name of it now ! I think New Castle is close by you & we get a lot of their coal trains up here, that eventually end up by Spankybirds house, in Willoughby.

Well, hope everyone has a nice evening !!

(mouth watering icon) so we will see...

    Everyone take care

I think the hobby shop I'm thinking of is called The Underground Railroad in New Castle. They did write ups on that fellow & he was also featured on some cassette movies when I was in trains in the 1990s. I'm not positive, though.  BTW, I have only heard really good things about Jims in Homer City !

Also does your friend drive to Ashtabula, Ohio ? That's where I meant the trains come into from New Castle. I work there with those crews sometimes.  Maybe he drives to Collinwood in Cleveland, too.

    Thanks again, John

    Good morning everyone,

It is very hot and humid here. I don't know if I will be allowed to do anything outdoors today, but I did want to get the lawn cut, which my parents probably won't let me do.

    Talk to you all later,

    Colin

    I really like mine Colin.

Buckeye, have you had any issues with it yet? I am really hoping to get the set and the add on powered engine.

I already have a spot and measurements for the layout. It will be 8x8, or 9x8, have O72 on the outside, O54 inside, TMCC (maybe TMCC2.0 when it comes out), TPC 400, 180 watt brick, (maybe a second one added.) I am looking for 4 tables, and I am going to lay homasote (spelling?) over top to cut down the noise level. MTH Realtrax will be the right of way. I am going to try to make it as realistic as possible, scenery, and everything that I will run. I have a book that I am going to be using (ALCo's to Allentown) which gives a lot of pictures of Pennsylvania that will help me with towns, and other things.

    Tell me what you think.
