Laz what is the site if the guy has one?

I love GTO's too, but Vette's are my favorite.

Tom, What do you recomend in 19 century engines? I have both TMCC and DCS. Don't buy anything new that won't run on one or the other.

John, if you wish command in 19th century, then your only choose is MTH. The Lionel generals are remakes for the 60’s with plastic shell engines, forward and reverse only, and to see any smoke, the engine will be flying off the track.

The MTH engines are diecast, both the engine and tender and with PS2 you can’t go wrong.

Good evening,

Roy, I missed your post. I must have been writing mine when you posted yours. While I was posting mine the door bell rang so I hit Post and left the computer. Just go back to it. That was an interesting story. Your rain is just as elusive as ours.

Tom, Thanks for the advice. Like Jim I am leaning toward the RK as opposed to Premier. Say both at Barry's train shop and the main difference appears to be in the details. About $300 difference in price. Jim's idea in buying a set is good buy I prefer an Eastern road name. No rush so I will look around a little. May wait till York in October.

I called in to the other mag and ordered a ticket for the Weaver trip in October from York. I have never been to the Weaver factory.

John O, Don't forget to report how little John liked the train trip.

Colin, I don't think Santana has a web site. They sometimes have a small add in the magazines, but I think they mostly sell at shows.

Have a good evening all.

Another beautiful day in central North Carolina. The sounds of the whippoorwill fill the forest and the day is at an end.

Received a railroad switch lock today:

Chief, you won't believe how many hurdles will need to be crossed before you ever see a by-pass around Roseyville. Can you say cultural resources and environmental justice? In fact, I would bet you my pay check that I could attend one public information meeting or public hearing and delay the project single handily by one year by claiming I found some artifacts within the proposed corridor.

No that will not work. Already been checked. It is tiny little muscles that stops everything.

Morning, afternoon, evening, good night and good morning again. Off to bed. been a busy day. Had to run an errand for Frankie [he is on night shift for 4 days], mow and trim three yards [one was the Mexican's, see I like LEGALS], disk the remaining garden spot and plant cucumbers, more tomatoes and more squash. Then went to pond and caught trespassers. Waited them out. They had gone through my land to someone else's pond. They came back about dark. Told them they were trespassing. "We can't walk through your land?" "No, and you must not be able to read." [big NO FISHING signs and big NO TRESPASSING sign at their truck]. "I've been watching you and your buddy fish in my pond for 30 minutes." [know how to hide and watch from the old days as aux. game warden]. I drove off unblocking their vehicle so they could leave. Ate dinner at 9 PM. Off to Pearl [Jackson] MS early tomorrow AM.

Will be watching for Yankee invasions from the hotel computer.

[BTW Dennis and Jim A, big time T&RSA help. Just won a Lionel UP GP38, new, for less than what Miss Edna sold them. She says they have been out of stock at Lionel as big demand. Was hoping to be out bid as just bought two Atlas O "black" engines, new with TMCC and etc for $200 each [half MSRP], GP35 high nose and C424. [:0] ]

Marty, The last flight I took, the scrumptious(?) snack that Delta provided contained a very small box of Sunmaid Raisins. I think it would have been an excellent candidate for building signage. Although it might have required some work to make it a little thinner material.

Marty,

That's great. How did you get the faded look on the sign? (I spray auto primer to get mine)

Quite by accident. It is an Injet rendering. I used sand paper to thin the paper after I printed the sign. I sanded the back to get it as thinn as I could and then sanded the front a bit to give it an aged look. The majic happened when I applied it to the building. I used a elmers glue/water mixture and sprayed it on the building and then carefully applied the sign. Some of it tore in spots and the water/glue mixture actually started to blur the inkjet image. I let it dry with the sign facing up so it wouldn't run. It was all quite by accident. I was hoping to get more of the building contour through the sign but I don't think there was enough relief on the bricks to do so. I wasn't overly excited about the sign at first but it really grew on me as I added the Uncle Sam sign.

The US sign I basically did the same but did not snad the front. And instead of glue/water I just used a thin layer of glue on the sign. Then brushed the front with a bit of water to blue and age it a bit. I'm pretty happy with them.

Good morning all,

It's been almost a weeks since I posted here. I spent 4 days over the weekend working at a United Methodist Youth Gathering for about 600 HS kids. We had a great time and it went well. Whenever I spend time with the kids like that it gives me hope for the future.

The weather in WNY has been fantastic all week. When I get home from work at night (when I don't have evening meetings) I try to get outside. Besides our yard, I have to do my mom's and she has a lot of lawn. So, I have hardly had a chance to do any writing here.

Mitch - It is a good feeling when the last kid gets to that senior year in college. My youngest son graduates in a little over a week. We will have 3 in post graduate studies but that is on their own. He's lucky because the company that hired him is paying him to go to Notre Dame graduate school. He got a pretty good deal. One of our daughters graduates from George Washington Graduate School in 2 weeks. I will have to travel down into that southern territory for that one. The only other one still in school is another daughter who is just completing her 3rd year of med school.

Roy- Interesting story about the guy in the flooded car. I get the feeling he will pay for his actions a long time.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!

A very pleasant morning in Prattville, AL with a light breeze and mild temperatures. Supposed to warm up to the mid 80s today.

Attended the National Day of Prayer breakfast at the Doster Center (small arena in our town). Chief Justice Drayton Nabors of the Alabama State Supreme Court was our speaker - he did a great job! Good food and a good chance to visit with folks. Heard from several local ministers and some good music as well. Made for a good start to the day.

My new DR Bru***rimmer arrived yesterday. I hope to give it a test run this evening clearing some brush on my property.

Have a great day, everyone.

A beautiful day in my part of Illinois. Boy, are the dandelions on the lawn growing high. Going to go over to the township later to pick up some free paint - they accept old paint, mix it all together and let you come get it in gigantic buckets. That's what I used on the basement to lighten it up - and I want to fini***hat off and the inside of the garage. Wish I knew how to replace drywall tape. Running my hopefully final radon test (post mitigation) to see what's what. Hope to write up some more track plans too. In between work. John, how was your trip to the Zoo?

Just got from a certain big box retailer where I picked up one of those Indian motorcycles. This one which looks like a motorized bicycle is from 1906 - it'll fit perfectly with the date of the new layout. Especially if i put it on the side of a country road in the background with a figure crouched down to repair it. And the box has a cardboard insert that is perfect for a billboard or wall sign.

Good afternoon all,

It is sunny and temps are in the 70s in SE Indiana. I played soccer last night getting ready for my season. I picked some wildflowers last night for the better half. Some purple and white violets, some wild strawberry blossoms, and some small type of purple flowers (geraniums), and you would have thought she got a dozen roses. All were out of the yard, and all it took was a little searching on my part. I can't understand why people think an all-green grass yard is so perfect. I like green, but a little variety does not hurt. I watched "Lost" as well. It had a real interesting ending. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Made up here to MD yesterday. Glad to report that the MD REBS are holding up well. the littlest REB is now 17mo. and getting big, soon'll be time for PopPop to introduce him to trains.

Went back to the old neighborhood, like they say "you can't go back" but then who'd want to. I did hit a seafood house for a crabcake and sweet tea, mmmmmmmmmmm good, thought the prices have skyrocketed. Steamed crabs are $40 a dz. for mediums, used to be $40 a bushel when I lived here, its them yankees driving up prices.

Off to NJ tomorrow, hope I find a computer to use there, otherwise, be back on next week.
