Just arrived home from Kansas City and Nikon school. Very intense weekend and the old brain is tired but I did pick up lots of information that I was hoping for. Now I need to get busy and reshoot the layout and post it on our web site along with some video clips. Lots of rain the past two days, made driving more stressful.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and in the 50s in SE Indiana with rain predicted all day today. We had a surprise birthday party for our son last night when he got off work. If I had felt better, I would have enjoyed it more myself. Everybody had a nice time so that was good. Tomorrow is a state holiday for primary voting in Indiana so the wife and I will try to enjoy the day. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It's 55 and sunny, going up to 72 and Sunny today. That's
a good sound.
Feeling pretty good today. Still taking some mild pain relievers and antibiotics. Will be
out soon. That's good.
Looks like a good day to take a walk. Have to do that daily. Breathing exercises too.
Will be looking forward to running my trains next week. Have to wait one more week
before using steps. Paula is watching me closely.
Well, MAYBE, a NASCAR race today at Noon.
Talk to you guys later.
Y'all have a great day.

Busy weekend with gorgeous weather. I painted porches, refinished a coffee table, mowed the lawn, painted another backdrop for the train layout, finished off painting the last of the passengers at the new-look station, ran some trains and watched the Sopranos.

Short week this week. My wife's sister is getting married Saturday. Gonna take Thursday and Friday off. I need a break from here anyway. Can't wait for Wednesday afternoon.

Good to see Doug beginning his new layout. That was fast!

Good Morning,

Looks like Laz gave the local weather. We could use a little rain, but forcast is for clear all week with possible showers on Thursday or Friday.

Chuck, Keep on the mend, sounds like you are doing well. It is good to have someone to keep and eye on you.

Tom, No didn't watch NHRA, can't seem to get into that.

May watch some of NASCAR if it is on one of the TV sets at the fitness center, this is my afternoon to work out. Later this morning I will be babysitting the 3 & 5 year olds for a while.

Good morning, all,

Finally got a good rain last night! Boy, we sure did need it! Much cooler this AM, still overcast but I think the rain has moved on through.

Got a lot of yard work done over the weekend. Still need to clear some underbrush in the woods. Hope to get to that this weekend some time.

Have a good day!

Cool and grey this morning in Chicago. Finished putting the base for the layout last night - it's like a jig-saw puzzle with a swath of carpet here and there. The home supply store did a lousy job of cutting the rolls, but my knees appreciate it. Now to fill the great void! I can't believe I got everything in the basement and garage back together again so fast. Thank you God. Two days of rain allows you to do that I guess. There's cardboard (removed from the top of the crawlspace) all over the garage - even the floor. I'd estimate when I stack everything, it'll be about four ft high and eight ft. wide. The recyclers are going to have a fit.

Catching up on my mail. Did anyone get the April brochure from Williams? I see they're selling sound units - both steam and diesel - and reverse units - for only $25 for Plat. Club members - and 50 12 v. bayonet base lamps for $9!

That brochure doesn't sound familiar, Doug. But I always get their flyers later rather than sooner. Perhaps in a few weeks I'll get one. What's on the front page?

Morning all!

Beautiful day here so far. Will get to high 80's. Spotty rain forecast for rest of the week.

Spanky - nice A&P car!

JeffPo and LAZ - we are sorely behind on fishing this past year. Been so busy and lakes are really down. At least we will get a chance when we go to Tennessee for the 4th this year (I think that was the last time we fished).

Got gutters cleaned and lawn mowed yesterday evening. Wonderful cool breeze blowing.

We tied two previous records (around 1925 and 1948) for hottest April.

Buckeye - and the Garden RR this year has one less tree to worry about! Nice shot of the train.

Doug - glad everything worked out on your basement.

Have a great day all! Chief must be sleeping in!

Clothes dryer conked out last night - I looked and can't figure it out. It's about 10 years old, so I guess we'll replace it. It would probably cost about the same as having someone come out to the house to fix it. Guess I'll have to break the "boycott" - such a shame! Then maybe stop at Walmart and spend some more money, just because it feels good to stimulate the old economy!

See the doc tomorrow and hope to be released back to work. Everybody have a good day!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello All! Laz- The 800lb Bear must be catching all of the Big Fish out of your fishing hole & leaving you with the smaller ones. Leave some Peanut Butter & Honey for him next time & maybe he'll forget about the Fish for a while?[;)][:)] Doug- You can help the Chief out with his Layout. Dennis--

The Nikon school was amazing but not for the faint of heart! Really geared for the serious amateur, day two was aimed at the pro level and primarily color extraction and work flow techniques. I do not use Adobe Photoshop (perhaps someday) and all 4 sessions yesterday focussed on that product. At this point for me it's overkill but maybe by next year at this time I will want it.

I'm really fired up now to reshoot my layout with the D70s and start a new album. There were about 300 of us in attendance and when I shared with several in attendance my love for O Gauge trains their eye's really lit up.

I even went to Arthur Bryant's BBQ (thank you Magellan and GPS) and enjoyed his world famous ribs! Fun to see all the Presidents pics on the walls along with the celeb's, interesting neighborhood.

Great weekend.

Jon

PS--one of the instructors, Bill Durrence, was from Savannah, GA and shared with us some of his photo's of the area----absolutely gorgeous!

Weekend's over and, of course, its a bright, sunny day today. Guess I'll dig out a suite case this afternoon and start throwing some things in for the trip into yankee land later this week.

There was an artical in either Saturday's or Sunday's paper, The Dixie Diva column, that was talking about grits taking hold in Manhattan and being so popular that the diner that is at the center of it is sold out before the breakfast hours are done.

If I need to kill some time on Sat. afternoon I might take a commuter train into Manhattan. From what I can tell there's a station 0.3 mi. from the hotel we're staying at. Its been at least 20 yrs. since my last trip into Manhattan vs. years ago when I was there at least 4 days a month.

Afternoon all:
Reports typed and emailed. Means $$$ on the way back. [:D] Houston [really Katy] BPS was dead. Now getting ready to go to Pearl MS [Jackson]. Garden and the grass are jumping. Jim A, got my SP caboose from the Auction. It is new and will fit behind my SP trailertrain cars.

Wife sent me this:
Subject: "DAY WITHOUT AN IMMIGRANT"

May 1st is the planned "Day Without an Immigrant" boycott by illegal immigrants here in the United States. They plan on boycotting work, thus showing how many menial jobs they provide cheap labor for. They plan on boycotting our stores, thus showing how much money they provide for the economy. I am fine with this tactic.
I have one suggestion: Please boycott our hospitals, schools, jails, and highways.
Let us see what our health care system would be like without an overcrowded emergency room full of illegal immigrants using it as a free clinic to treat non-emergent ailments. Let us see what it would be like to have people who the hospital actually expects to pay for treatment. I wonder if the costs for health insurance would drop.
Let us see what it would be like to reduce the size of our classrooms. Let us see what it would be like to have to spend taxpayer dollars to teach in English only. Let us see if our schools test score averages increase.
Let us see what it would be like to not be victimized by an illegal immigrant and then have to pay for the incarceration of that illegal immigrant. The Los Angeles County Jail system would be alleviated of thousands of inmates. Those incarcerated might actually do 100% of their sentences rather than the 10% that they have been doing.
Let us see what our highways would be like. Let us see if traffic is reduced without their presence. Let us see if the number of unlicensed, uninsured, unqualified motorists drops and the number of traffic collisions also drops proportionally. Maybe our car insurance rates would see a decrease as a result.
Maybe the May 1st "Day Without an Immigrant" boycott should be encouraged so the rest of the citizens can fully appreciate what benefits and burdens illegal immigration creates.

All my Texican buddies agree with me. Ship them back to Mexico. Friend of mine said there is a published document by a Hispanic Professor at NMSU that states the goal is to become the majority in the states of CA, NM, NA and TX. Then return them to there original state of Mexico. Interesting. My neighbors went to work. [:0]

More chores to do to get ready to get out of town by Thursday. Roseyville Town Board meetinfg tonight. [;)]

Yes. Been trying to contact them to renew my Club membership. Their Customer Service section stinks. We are all busy, leave word. Well, I have 4 times. No returns. [:(!] Their trains are great as conventionals but this is something. Don't tell me to leave name and number and never call back.
