Good morning all,

It is sunny and temps are heading into the 70s in SE Indiana. Congrats to Sask and Laz on the new stars! Chuck, good to hear you are home. Tmcc man, I was out playing soccer last night. Not too many kids showed up, but there was enough to play four on four. I so need to work on the foot skills. They are not even close to being able to play. I watched a little bit of the Pacers' win last night. They might surprise some people, but they have to win on Saturday to really put the pressure on New Jersey. I hope everyone has a nice day.

Keep on training,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It's 55 degrees and SUNNY. Going to 70 degrees and SUNNY. Think I will take a walk today and use my camera. Trees are really filling out and grass is growing like crazy.
I'm feeling pretty good today. I will be on antibiotics for 10 more days. Pain pills are working good. It feels good to breathe without a pain or restriction. Doing exercises of my lungs.
LIFE IS GOOD.
Well, I will go for now. Y'ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Bright and sunny today. Reminds me of this day 34 years ago. Karen said "I DO."

Listening to WKOL on the PC. This is Kooljock1's radio station in Vermont. Lots of familiar songs.

Very nice to read that Chuck is home and feeling better.

Just found out that I missed an opportunity to earn "six month's of brownie points." There was just a "Birthdays and Anniversaries" segment on Jon's show. Karen said that would have been a neat surprise.

Man, you would think after 34 years I would have learned something.

Tom,

Karen laughed when I told her about your post and said "We have enough stuff."

Actually, I recently got a set of Lionel scale B&O F3 ABA engines from Choo Choo auctions. Really nice engines, now just need some appropriate passenger cars.

Pretty sure I won't be at the OTTS meeting tonight.

Morning from Raleigh, NC.

Quite a chilly ride in to work this morning with the temps in the 40s. Suppose to warm up to the 70s. Clear blue skies. Probably do some star gazing tonight (one of my other hobbies).

Hope to do a lunch trip to Miss Edna's today and pick up a thing or two.

Cool here in Lower Arnold, but supposed to be up to 70 by this afternoon. God bless you Chuck, sounds like things are really improving! You take it easy and slow man, need to make sure you don't bust a stitch.

Good Morning All:

Another beautiful day in Chicagoland. We got a bit of good news yesterday. Our real estate tax bill came and it was much lower than we had budgeted. Now, I am trying to use some of those "saved" funds for some new train gear. Unfortunately, the Julie of JohnandJulie has other ideas...[:(] Maybe I should change my user name to Julieandjohn13. Good morning,

Chuck, Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Have a nice walk in the beautiful Spring weather. Sounds like your temps are going to be a little higher than ours. Maybe they will move East for the Weekend.

Have a busy day planned, will check in later.

I wanted to share a story, as told by Joel, and outdoor G-scale modeler.

Joel made his own rails from steel and has a really cool video I thought some of you'all might like to view, as you're eating your grits and Moonpies and drinking your sweet iced tea or RC Colas.

Here's the link that will download the video and below that is the description in his own words:

http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/rangerjoel//strapiron%20RR.rm

Ok, here is the info on the railroad. It was about 200’ long and made a simple loop around the back yard. I used ½ “ crushed gravel for roadbed and the rails were made of ½”X1/8” cold rolled steel. The steel came from a local dealer and I don’t remember exactly how much it was. It may have been about $60.00 for what I got. I used a table saw to notch and cut the ties. The ties were made out of a pine board that was 1”X12”X8’. I split a lot of those ties trying to tap the rail into the groove. Steel is very flexible and will easily flex into nice gentle curves. My problem came when I tried to make four-foot diameter curves. Once the rail is bent, it became impossible to tap it into the tie grooves without having the wood split. If you are going to use this technique, you may want to use Trex or other plastic wood that will not split. All of my joints were brazed together with an oxy/acetylene welding set that I was given on my 16th birthday (most kids hope for a car…I wanted safe cracking tools!) You could use some kind a fastener though, maybe drill and tap both rail ends and use a small peace on the outside as a rail jointer. I did experiment with building a switch and it worked, but shortly after finishing it, I decided to rebuild the entire backyard railroad using aluminum rail. The strap iron rails were torn apart and used as reinforcement in the following railroads concert roadbed. I may do some more experiments soon with strapiron rail.

Tom, I took the layout down because the radon guys are coming in.... about 19 minutes. I just finished. They're going to plunk a vent into the crawlspace. Beautiful day here - waiting for the radon guys - watching the sea of dandelions grow on the lawn - dragging brush out to the front for the city to pick up - in case it rains tomorrow and Sunday like they say it will do. What a mess. But the crawl is swept clean, the the perimeter of the basement clear - a huge pile ofthings in the middle. And the garage is clear too. May this go smoothly.
Glad your tax bill was lower than you expected, John. You can spend the difference on gas. I hope to go to a store later looking for carpet to put down for the new layout. Forget this sawdust paper...

GregM – Take Karen to dinner at something like Willoughby Brewing Co, you know the old CPE rail car repair building. http://www.willoughbybrewing.com It’s a great restaurant now, Buckeye and I have eaten there many times or Gavi’s Restaurant, it was the CPE power house, http://www.gavisrestaurantandcatering.com/CMS and as long as you are in Willoughby, you two can make the OTTS meeting.

Cool site for the Willoughby brew co.
Sounds like the GEEZE CATS are a main stay there.
Are they any good?
Why soooo much for a beer?

For anyone interested in military topics, I've loaded to www.army.mil a neat story of a skinny kid who weighed around 100 pounds and won the Medal of Honor in Vietnam. He's still leading troops!

It will be on our site until Monday morning.

[#ditto] DAVE,
And did anyone notice, he's a BUCKEYE!

A little know fact is that the first Medal of Honor Recipient was also a Buckeye from the small town of Kenton, OH.
