[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill[/code]It is currently 38 degrees and partly cloudy. Going up to a cold 47 and possible sun.
Tomorrow ( Thursday ), the wife is taking me up near Cleveland ( Brunswick ), to
a Pulmanary Specialist to possibly drain the fluid from my lungs, and put me on a stronger
antibiotic. It appears that we never have fully gotten rid of the Pneumonia, and therefore it came back, 2 or 3 times. Caused me to loose weight and suffer a lot of bad nights. But, we will solve that
problem. So, there you have it......Thanks for asking , Chief. ( and everyone else ).
Well, gotta go for now. SOOOOO,
Y'all have a great day.

Cool and sunny here in Chicago today. It looks like I have one of those evenings I've only read about - and we try to avoid: pick up the teenager after track, shuttle to dance, pick up the boy at Little League practice to take home. And to think I wanted to try to make some trees tonight.
That's about it, David, my 15 minutes are up. I want to know what a wall cloud is too. It sounds bad.
Good luck on your interview, Tom.
Jim, that is some undeserved 'penance' for those Alcos - but I feel your pain - it's less than a week 'til my wife's birthday and I've gotten her nothing - don't know quite what to do about that yet - but boxes keep arriving in the mail with my name on them... I did throw away the flyer for that TTOS PE trolley I've been carrying around for a month.
Chief, does the rotary tipple actually work - or rather how does it work?
Glad you're seeing another doc to clear that up, Chuck!

Doug,

Did you find some green furnace filters?!

The rotary tipple takes the hopper and turns it upside down to empty it. I saw one on some layout (I love Toy Trains video) and was amazed at how nice it was. Chief got a nice deal. He always does.

Jim

Hey,

Does anyone else out there have those Williams U.P. Alcos?

WOw - feeling a lot better today - I guess the advil and rest finally did their work. Contractor coming tonight to sign papers to replace the roof and siding etc. Still need to get the deck worked on as well, but will look into that after they are done - no need to clean/stain the deck and then have it get ripped up again from construction.

Finished the new castle for the layout with my daughter. Then I noticed the niece and nephew took stuff apart and moved things around on the lego layout - now I'm thinking of going over each kit individually to make sure they didn't lose anything -- or not. It would take a long time.

Nope, Jim, never did. I found a big one that is the same brand you posted that is more '***iy' than fuzzy.

Well, well, isn't this interesting - when I tried to type 'p-r-i-c-k-i-l-y' to describe the filter the forum software automatically 'starred' that word out.

Mornin' All,
Up early, some nasty thunderstorms rolled thru waking me up, guess I'll start doing some laundry etc. I'm a bachelor for another week with the other half out and about visiting relatives back east. I was supposed to go as well but there is no way I could stand traveling and hauling luggage around with this arthritis. On the brite side I do get to have things for dinner that she either doesn't like or says no to because they are really not healthy. Last nite was sausage & eggs with buttermilk biscuits & sausage gravey.
The rumbling earth we had yesterday apparently was not a quake, they really don't know what it was. Some say it probably the Marines over at Pendleton either artillery practice or disposing of some old ordinance.
Just a quick rant: Have you heard about this far far left group that wants to have a big strike/boycott on may 1st.? If you plan on doing any shopping etc the last week or few days of April, save it and do ALL of your shopping on May 1st. This is a group that has been around for a long time and if they had their way we wouldn't have any borders and we would be a socialist society. [:(!]
Rant over.

Doug, nobody with any money for shopping pays attention to 'em. They've tried in the past - such boycotts quite a popular past-time here at the university. I get a related kick out of the wilder (to me) groups that show up to join the regular protests in the Federal Plaza a few blocks away - seems to be someones' agin' everything.

This is what I do when email is 'down' here today - well, off to tinker with our website and check in again soon.

Morning all. Wife came home late last night. Youngest is mad but so what. I will drop by and visit on the way to Myrtle Beach tomorrow.

Coal tipple works great according to my buddy that sold it to me. He did not have room for it as it has trestle set going up and down. Think I will do a wing and make it like Norfolk/Newport News shipping area. If not, will make one ramp and have a switcher push each car up and into it. You have to have the bath tub gons with rotory couplers for it to work right.

Yard work to do. Service Pam's car first. Then JD mower. Haul limbs and stuff to woods too [too big to grind in chipper shredder]. Better get moving. God bless.

Good morning all. Hopefully I am done for the day. If so, and if the honey do list is not too long, I may get to have some fun this afternoon.
Chief, don't worry, we have your six. Also, the I love toy trains video on the coal tipple has a great method of handling the hoppers. Take a look and see if it will work into your plans.
Have a good one.

Morning all!

Jim (jaabat) - I have the Armour Yellow UPs from Williams and I think they are great. Excellent puller for just one can motor and traction tires. I was considering ordering the kit from Williams to add the second motor and decided I do not need it.

Chuck - I hope you can get better soon. Take care!

Overcast and 70 here today. Nice.

Have a great one all!
Roy

Tom - good luck on the job interview!

Hey guys, Just drop in to say HI.

Rain is probably about over out here, will be sending some empties to the east. Doug your menu sounds pretty good to me.

Well gone and done it again, ordered another Train. Got a Shay on order with 4 log cars and a bunk car. Also ordered a set of 6 PFE woodside reefers for our big boy.

Was out shopping for bars this past weekend, a couple looked good but didn't finalize anything yet. We still have about 4 months before we need it.

Gotta get to work see if I can earn a couple dollars to buy some smoke fluid.

Have a great day.

Hey everyone, dont have time to catch up on the thread yet, but came on to say that its been a great day so far. The run and only one I will be doing this week has taken me to VA, which is where I am now. Got some stops in the Norfolk and Chesapeake areas, two stops in NC and the final one back in VA, before heading back to Grand Rapids. Route took me through Ohio, parts of W. VA and PA, and then through MTH's home of Maryland, and finally here in VA. After I get done with all my stops will be returning back to MI. Should get back home on Friday so this is the only week I will be doing this run since I start my first shift job next week, so better enjoy this final OTR run while it lasts...lol. Will try to get back online this evening if I can find a truck stop with wireless access. Having a laptop is a great thing.

Take care all!

Just had the highlight of my day: talking to JIm A. whilst he waited to pick up a child from school. I walked up to the 'new' Randolph St. (ex-IC, ex-CSS&SB station) that was renovated as part of Chicago's Millenium Park. Looks like a claustrophobic tacky airline terminal. Hulking security guards wouldn't let me take any photos. Glass-walled concourse which will someday be full of small stores - all empty for now - a wavy plastic ceiling, new tile floor. Ticket windows behind neon bars which light red or green depending on whether they're busy or not. I went out to the platforms where the IC electrics slept. All sorts of underground trackage still there going off in all directions - damp, concrete-y smell. Then walked out the other wing to see the South Shore - nice to see the old logo everywhere - $20 round trip to South Bend - have to play hooky and take that trip someday - hmmm, I could leave at 845 get there at noon, get the 1 and get back by 4.

Roy,

I hope I don't regret it, but I got the K-Line. I really like the engine configuration, thought it would be a great conversation piece, and it wil run on O-31. I am designing our layout for 54 and 42 so that works. . It is marketed with all the features and is only $600, which seems quite resonable.. So we will see.
I do have a couple of K-Lines rolling stock and have been impressed with them, but I would like to try all the various manufacturers. So far I have 90% Lionel, 1 MTH, and now 1 K-Line engine. Want to see what Williams and Atlas are like but it is difficult to find many out here in the shops. So will look harder or possibly see what comes up at Cal Stewart this fall.

Don, I have two Atlas SD-35's, they are the BEST in my rather limited stable of loco's. My only regret, can't call it dissatisfaction, is the RS is more a generic but it still sounds great. [^]
Let me know the next time you come down and I'll be sure to bring them in. [:D]
P.S. It has been raining like [censored] off&on all morning, at time the rain gutters just can't keep up with it. [|)]

A good evening to all,

Left early today and just got home a little while ago, so the trains are feeling neglected.

Colin, I forgot to tell you that Barry's shop is closed on Wednesday and Sunday. Other days they open at noon till 7:00 PM. Sat I think is noon to 5:00.

Don, Haven't seen your smilling face for a while you must have been busy. I have 3 K-line TMCC engines and I am happy with them all. Also have maybe 20 freight cars and a set of pass. cars. All well built, hated to see them fold. I also like Atlas stuff.

We had that same mini-blizzard this morning as Laz mentioned. It blew like crazy and snowed for maybe 10 minutes & then it was all over. A cool day, looks like Spring has left us for a week or so.

Laz, I have tomatos with blossoms in the greenhouse. As soon as the weather settles down a little I will start carrying them out during the day and back in at night. They are in one gallon containers.

Didn't see anyone mention the announcement from Atlas, it may be on another thread as I just started here without looking at the list. Atlas has purchased Industrial Rail.

Have a good evening.

Yeah, buddy. Problem neighbor tho. Afraid he might next try & poison her. Did ya see the news today about the dozen or so dogs that got their heads chopped off by some pervert and mutilated. Can't trust folk nowadays.

Gonna just keep her leashed, walk her around, and dream about moving someday to a place far from civilization like where Chief or Pig's Eye live. We can dream, can't we?

Chuck and all you other boys of the north, I want you to know that the great raid into the south is scheduled for this Friday. Yes, indeed I have been planning this for weeks. I hope to get some photos this time. Unlike when the Chief heads north, we keep an eye on him.

Heard about that mini-blizzard that cut across NE Ohio, NY and Pennsylvania. Real slick roads.

I'm stll flushing out the pain killers from the kidney stones. Wow, was I ever on some strong meds! Did I do anything dumb this last week, like give me trains away? I can't remember much of what went on for the last seven days. The weekend was a blur of strong narcotics and flashes of excruitating pain.

Doug, you could take the Shore to South Bend and then a metro bus to Elkhart to the NYC museum.

Eventful day in Prattville, AL. One of the old buildings on Main St in the historic district burned this morning. Apparent electrical fire. 55 Prattville firefighters and an additional 10 from Montgomery took four hours to get the fire under control. The building (over 100 years old) is a loss but they saved both buildings on either side - job well done by our fire department! Sadly, the building housed my favorite coffee shop. The building was owned by one of our church members. He had insurance as did the tenant, but still a sad loss. The good news is that no lives were lost and no one was injured.

Ready for bed. Serviced Pam's car and the JD mower. Mowed my grass, one neighbor's and trimmed the street for three houses. Went to Lowe's and got some bird feed and etc. No trains today. [:(] Greenhouse watered so ready for me to hit the road tomorrow AM.

Chris, where in NC did you stop?

David, move next door. Neighbor has wonderful little Australian Heeler named Spot [how original]. Has no pen. Stakes him out. He pulls the stake up and gets hung up in the trees and bushes. Sometimes left in the hot sun without water due to being hung in stuff [happened all last summer]. He was left where he could not get into his house during the big Tstorms the other day. I have tried to give him two 50 foot rolls of welded wire and psots to build him a pen. He will not take it. Neighbor left last weekend and Pam had to rescue him several times. Some guy was suppose to be taking care of him. I watered and fed him off and on since he has been there as I have found him without food and water. Guy is divorced and only pays attention to the dog when his son is there. Went out to shop today and the little rascal was hung around a tree and some bushes. Went over and was unwinding him as neighbor came up. He was glaring and I told him I was untangling him. He grabbed him and started off. I told him Pam had to untangle him and get him water all weekend. He glared back and said he had been turned aloose several times and he was not allowing that again. Told him we had not turned him aloose. He glared and stomped off. One more word and I would have had a "sit down" with him [as Tony says]. Kept looking for the guy all afternoon as I was going over and "chat" with him. Thing is, the dog will probably disappear this weekend while I'm away. Can't say more. Should have reported him to County Animal Control. Especially since they come under my County committee I serve on. Wanted to be a neighbor and not get him in trouble. [:(!][V][:(!] This is the neighbor I have done a lot for. He is a real dumb a$$. I've put in headlights and etc for his truck. Helped him fix stuff including his pool pump. I've mowed his grass when the EX got his JD in the divorce settlement. He is a painting contractor. Had his guy over repainting his house. Got some of my trim and fixed his that was missing from house. Asked if his guy with very long ladder could do a chore for me. Said yes and never did it. Time to write him off.

Buckeye, asprins are rough on Yankees. [;)]

Buckeye - very sorry to hear about your stones man! God bless, I hope it's over with. I was sick a couple days and missed a lot of posts to be honest.

Chuck - I pray you get better and everything goes okay.

Colin - Way cool video, but it was making me sick! I had to turn it off. Maybe if the camera was turned a little forward - that sideways thing was getting to me.

Chief - sorry to hear about your neighbor. Just offer it up. I only had one decent neighbor and he moved out a few years ago. The guy living there now is letting the wood fence fall down in sections. I left 2 of them in my yard for a week, thinking he'd get the hint, but he never did. I finally flipped them over into his yard, where they are still laying.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
