Sounds like North Carolina is getting a taste of the Federal Clean Water Act. Roseyville will be surrounded by Raleigh when the dust settles and the Chief will be in the pen. Big cities will use the water/sewer hammer for anything and everything, especially for an expansion of the city's boundaries.

Follow the money.

Good morning everyone. It is a chilly 36 degrees in Gettysburg this AM, high forecast to be 45. Where did the 80+ degree temps go?

Another long day. I'll be interviewing teacher candidates at a job fair this afternoon and evening. It will make for a long but fun day. More weird discipline issues, I don't know where kids come up with some of the stuff they do.

Chief - Hope you have a good visit in Buckeye Land. Sounds like Goliath has his hands full with you.[;)]

Have a great day.

We were expecting snow on Friday, but I heard this morning that it will go out to sea without hitting us.

My 3 kids are sick yet again with colds. This is the third such virus they've had in the past 6 weeks! And if that weren't bad enough, my daughter got right in my face last night and coughed!!! I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Death, where is thy sting?

Got some more work done on the layout last night. Planted a bunch of bushes and home made conifer trees along the larger of the two rivers. Looks great. Wifey is home the rest of the week, so I won't be making any more progress on that for a while.

Good morning all,

It is sunny but cold in SE Indiana with temps heading to the high 40s today. We went to the county music festival last night. All three local high schools (2 county and 1 city) band and choirs practice all day to put on a program in the evening. It is about the only time the three schools cooperate on any action. The music is ok and the kids sound good, but it would be nice to have a little variety on choral side. Every year it is mostly gospel music. I do not object to gospel music, and I can tolerate almost any style, but with five songs in the program, I would think some change of pace would be nice. I have meetings today so this will be short. Chief, I wish you good luck in your struggles with the big city. I have some relatives who live in Raleigh so I may have to get their input as well on the situation. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I've got the snow machine working today to prepare for the Chief's visit. The cold and cloudy machine is working overtime. I'm currently working on a plan such that the Chief's rental is Suthern car and only has A/C. (No heat.) Chuck, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has tripled their patrol of I-70 for Friday so we can get plenty of revenue from the Chief's trip to Ohio.

Poor little Roseyville, if they didn't have a great mayor, (I believe her name is Nancy) they would have certainly folded. With such a great lady at the helm, Raleigh certainly will have a fight on their hands.

As to the water management, most of it is copied off of the Chesapeake Bay watershed legislation.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 32 and going up to 44 with over cast skies and light snow in some areas.

RailFest – NMRA Div 5 train meet. March 18 & 19. 300 tables. Largest show in NE Ohio

Ok - are any of the out of towners planning on coming to Cleveland for the RailFest Show [?] TrainMaster, Buckeye, tschmidt, Blueberry Hill [?] This is the largest two day show in NE Ohio, 3 gyms full of trains ! ! and then stop at the museum afterwards.

Jon – nice shelves for your tains

Chief – you should spend 1/10 of that time and energy on your trains and you would have your bench work done in nothing flat ! ! !

Last night we wired the last switch and power to the siding that we added to the museum tin plate layout and added side guards to prevent run-a-way trains form hitting the floor.

Pick of the Day

All be safe

Good morning,

I guess I will have to start checking in twice a day so I don't have so much to catch up on.

Tom, Nice city scene, how big is your layout? You sure come up with a variety of pics.

Laz has already given the local forcast.

Got to check on the greenhouse and then to work for a couple of hours.

All have a good day.

Morning guys,
A little chilly this morning, in the high 30's and going into the 70's. Tom, putting up guards to prevent the runaway trains from going off the layout? Where is your spirit of adventure? Just kidding, if I'd have had them when I was a child, perhaps my father's set would have been in much better, less battered condition. Glad to see y'all making such progress on the layout.
Chief, sounds like the yankees are trying to play havoc on your trip into hostile territory. Come to think of it, is the Mayor of Raleigh a carpet bagger? Could be the root of all your troubles. Rally the troops and lets lay seige to the Raleigh city councel! Anyway, keep at it, We want to see right prevail.

Busy day with the church today. Hospital visits this AM and some studying to do for this evening.

Cold this morning in Chicago like seemingly everywhere else - supposed to snow tomorrow - I like the lintels on your buildings, MIckey. Nice shelves, John. Now you have to fill all of them.
I realized I did something stupid with my GP 4.5. I was pretty careful to allow its single truck to move back and forth - but when running it late last night, I realized it wants to spin sideways with every bump on the track ( let along a curve) just like those midget race cars that race on mud ovals. I actually spun it around on a curve and thought - here's a new idea for Lionel. Imagine a Beep going sideways and spinning backwards as it races along: taking out trolley poles, all sorts of lineside stuff and finally coming to grief at a tunnel portal in Mt. Seamore. Had to laugh. Wish I had a video camera so I could've shared it but you can imagine how it went. Now, I have to glue the truck or secure it so it doesn't move so it's secured to the frame -(just like the Birney!) - or raise my trackside clearances... Go Chief, fight the Man. Water is going to be the municipal battle of the future. Our burgeoning towns in the far suburbs are sucking so much out of the water table some are actually settling - and they are wheedling the state and Chicago to tap Lake Michigan...

Go Chief, Go! 5 smooth stones! Later in the bible there is a list of Goliath's 4 brothers (? or is it sons? Dr. John?) which neatly explains the 5 smooth stones - David was ready for the whole crew! Thus proving the adage that you can NEVER have too much ammo!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Chief- You need to move to Ohio. We'll make you honorary mayor of the OTTS Layout.[;)][8D] Cut off the supply of Grits to Raleigh & they'll learn their lesson.[;)] Jefelectric- Nice photo's of your new train shelves. They look sharp. Take care everyone.

Good Morning all,

Nice trolley there, Doug....gives me thoughts of powering my Corgi PCC. Hello Bowser!

Chief....I've been dealing with issues similar to yours. the town of Richmond Hill ( Goliath ) decided a new sewer line was needed just south of here. They struck water while digging the trench and in their infinite wisdom have decided to pump and pump and pump until the water source dries up. The only thing drying up so far are all the local wells. My water level has dropped to the point of constantly having air in the plumbing. As I'm typing this, I'm watching out my window as they set up a well drilling rig next door. Their well is completely dry. I will probably have to deal with our well in the future also....135' down isn't deep enough these days. Grrrr!

Jim A. Pretty good. "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." Some good comments on big city pushing folks around from you guys. Bruce W., we are having the same well problem in the north Wake part of the county. There is no waterlines into the Falls Lake watershed due to agreement with Raleigh. This was done to control density. A crutch. Now big community wells are sucking individual wells dry.

Windy and cooler. Got sinus headache. Wife home sick. Staying in until regional transportation meeting this PM. Kind of looking after her. Especially since I'm gone so much. Was suppose to wire friend's greenhouse but begged off for a while. AH, my GRITS are ready. Later.

Get used to that sinus headache, Chief. It hangs around for about a week. Sudafed tablets did help for me.

Bruce - Q-Car also has motors for the PCCs - and an unbelievable amount of other traction stuff - see http://www.qcarcompany.com/listings/index.html

Sorry for your sinuses, Chief. That time of year (allergies) is coming soon. I wonder why I seem to be allergic to more stuff as I get older? Can't get sudafed off the shelves in the drug-stores here anymore - somehow they're used for methamphetamine production - I guess people were buying them by the gross. You gotta ask the druggist.

NC has "cracked" down on Sudafed too. Folks cooking up a storm with it. Can get it but only so many doeses at a time and only so many over a time period. Turned a lot warmer than we thought. Windy as all get out. Got to get ready to go to meeting in Raleigh. Later Some changes in the forum. Some bigger fonts on items. HUMMM

I can identify with the sinus headache, been hanging around off and on for weeks.
I got the glass shelves up and they look pretty good. I like seeing trains and not the shelves. I put up six and have enough material for six more. Another wall is looking very tempting.
Got to go. Hope to fini***he homework assignment noe the "important" stuff is done. [:D]

Jim, Enjoy the munchkins, sick or well, they seem to grow up to fast. That's why I am enjoying our grandson so much. When our daughter was an infant-toddler I was in the military and didn't get to spend much of any time with her.
Any PT Cruiser owners out there? If so keep a close eye on your battery and cables, ours fried over the weekend. New battery and cable/wiring harness plus the towing fee could have gotten a new steamer or a couple of diesels. [:(]
I'm still fighting this [censored] arthritis in my shoulders, big mistake a couple of weeks back when I took my diecast hoppers to run at the museum.[D)]
At least the storms have moved on, albeit cold at nite, till the weekend . More rain.

The only thing that helps with my sinus headaches is the Tylenol sinus tablets, or the Sam's Club generic. If I don't take something as soon as I feel one coming on it'll put me down, including nausia.

I've recently been contacted by a, I think free lance, photog with ties to CTT about having a photo shoot done of my layout, tentatively mid-April. No promises when, or if, a spread will be published. Have a bit of prelim work to do, sketch of the layout and points of interest. If only I can find my original layout plans it'll save me some time. Otherwise, better dig out the old drafting tools.

Roger,
Would love to see the whole layout and plans. I hope it does get to publishing. We head to the north of the state from time to time, so if you are up for visitors, perhaps? Anyway, I know you have a fantastic layout from what we have seen so far.
Well, done with another emergency and time to go home to the family. It is great to have the love of family after a long day. I look forward to opening the door and hearing DADDY!!!!!! as my kids run down the hall to see me.
Lastly, heard from some folks I work with that one of the neighbors was on their way home from Grandma's this past weekend, a drunk driver ran a stop sign and killed the mother instantly, 2 year old has internal damage. I hate to hear such events.
