Chief, congratulations on the 5th star!

Dave, point well taken!

Tom, get to feeling better - I know how you feel right now! Just recently got over nasty sinus attack due to allergies. A couple of weeks ago there was so much yellow pollen on Big Blue (my trusty and rusty '90 Caddy) that it looked green!

Here are some other points.

Did you know that even frogs have points! The portion of the frog facing us is called the heel. The two pointy rails facing us that are coming out of the heel are called frog wings. Yes indeed, I’m here to tell you that frogs really can fly! The other farthest end of the frog is called the frog’s toe. Sort of a pointy toe’d frog.

Here’s my homemade turnout with a similar frog and guard rails in place. I just thought I’d point out the similarity.

The switch stand is now in place and a tank car rolls thru the frog, heading northwest through the desert, which on the compass, is about 270 degrees, give or take a point.

Dave: nice point! You didn't mention the heel plate yet! I like those, as they really come in handy for rerailing. They may only be on older switches , though, but whenever we have A car on the ground, it's usually handy to pull it on at the heel block. Tom: get well for next train show! Laz: GO INDIANS!! ZWBOB: we were at the TCA show also, with 1688torpedo, Tom( spankybird) almost came! I was the one that left lights on & was asking everyone for a jump! In 20 minutes, Boys Scout Leader came to the rescue!! Next show in Medina, Apr.24th. Thanks, John

So David, what's your point?

Did you have a pint before writing about the points?

The thing I remember about points is that I had to spend a good deal of money, company's of course, getting the points rebuilt on out siding almost every year. We didn't have a lot of traffic just heavy tankers.

The rebuilt the points by building them back up with weld and then grinding them to proper contour. It's probably not suprising but the railroad, CSX, was more critical of the condition of private sidings than of their main line. Least bit of deterioration of a tie and they wanted it replaced while the main line had rotted ties you could poke your finger into.

Congratulation Chief on your 2000 posting!!!
After saying that, I am disappointed that you only wrote one sentence for your 2000 posting. I assumed you would have a multi page diatribe on the virtues of Southern living and some fresh new ideas and comments on why Buckeyes are the lowest of the low. Obviously you are not well because you should be giving me H[censored][censored]L for the photos of Roseyville I posted while you were in Florida looking at the string bikinis and poor Tom was shoveling a record snowfall. Needless to say I think LAZ LOL too hard and now is on the same list the Ohio boys. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

I am not sure if I got the point, can you go over the points again?

Let's see. I think I have about seventy postings now. To get to two thousand I would need to post too many two word posts to make it worth while. Maybe when I don't have too work anymore I can spend even more time posting on here.

I guess I just don't have as much to say. [:D]

Yea JIMBO seems like they have them Board meetings every other week?
Maybe they are them BOARD meetings where a bunch of GIZ are hammering nails into boards? Could this be the CHIEF's new layout they're working on?

Yes I can imagine what a Roseyville Town Board Meeting is like. Just turn on the TV Channel and watch one of these shows
  • Andy Griffith
  • Petty Coat Junction
  • Green Acres
  • Bob Newhart Show (Vermont Edition, remember the town meetings.)
..
I bet right after the pledge of alligence to the flag they sing the Roseyville anthem:

Come ride the little train that is rolling down the tracks to the junction
Forget about your cares, it is time to relax at the junction
Lotsa curves, you bet. Even more when you get
to the junction. Roseyville Junction.

There's a little hotel called the Shady Rest at the junction
(Roseyville Junction)
It is run by Kate, come and be her guest at the junction
(Roseyville Junction)
And there's Uncle Frank, he's a movin kinda slow at the junction
Roseyville Junction

All aboard for the Junction! Roseyville Junction

Scratch: hurry back, miss those scratch building ideas. Buckeye: I'm thinking they may be voting on getting new mag type wheels for the golf carts there, or increasing security or something along those lines! Who knows, maybe a second floor for the tree stand! You may have to go on another Recon mission! My mind is all boggled up too![%-)] Thanks,John[(-D][(-D]

I just can't believe that Chief's board meeting would have anything to do with building a layout table. He loves being on the floor.

Decided to start on the last building front I need to finish off tht back of the town scene. Cut the foam core board to size this evening and since I don't feel ambitious enough to scratch build the windows and doors again I'll stop at Memory Station on the way home tomorrow and see what I can find in the Grandt catalogue.

It'll be a 4 story stucco apartment c. 1940 that's been updated in the mid-50's.

If Chief's board meeting are any thing like those of the hunt club I used to belong to, they lasted about 15 min., and then we adjourned to the bar upstairs for a few hours of solving the world's problems.

Tom, from my recon mission notes they do everything in Roseyville on the floor.

We should ask Chief if they post the town board meetings on the internet. I need some more material for Saturday mornings.[:D][:D][:D]

OK guys from Ohio. Do you want snow, rain or just plain old flood. I warned yuz giz. Lots of things go on. We have builders fighting to build in our town. We are [especially me] tough on developers. Over 1,400 new homes approved in the last 12 months. Just passed an ordinace that the majortiy of the homes will have to be over 2,500 square feet. No low income housing. Reporter tried to get me to say that this PM. I just laughed at her. Tough times here. By pass of US 401 was three years off. Now been delayed. Over 27,000 vehicles pass my house [US 401 = Main Street] in 24 hours.

Maybe a good ICE storm in Columbus would calm him down. [;)] NC does not have toll roads. The General Assembly has apporoved for private concerns to open them. We laughingly mentioned that the Town should build the by-pass and make it a toll road. Then have police stop any through traffic for license check which would hold them up. Thus, you would go the toll road to make it to work and back home in decent time. [:D]

Buckeye,

You just made my night, I laughed out loud at the lyrics. Chief-- I hope you are laughing as well, this is better than anything on TV. I know what you mean about developers and square footage, 15 years ago when we lived in town they wanted to put tiny houses on tiny lots about 50 yards away from us. No basements, no garage and basically no covenants. That's also when we moved to the country. Thank goodness the city P&Z came to their senses and it never happened....... decent homes were built.

My mission now (with several hundred supporters who attend meetings) is trying to stop development of a regional airport about a mile from us. I'm amazed at what a few rich fat cats in Des Moines who have their own private jets can do to our county supervisors. Very frustrating, they want the taxpayers to pay for it under the guise that it will bring more business to the county. I thought retirement was suppose to be easy.
