Baby Rabbits have no odor. Infact, BB could not trail a half grown rabbit . [take it from the guy who owned rabbit beagles for 16 years] Hardly no sent. Nature's protection.

I got to agree with Chief. Baby rabbits have no sent. The mother feed them in the morning and leaves the nest untill night. Many people think the babys are abonded when in fact, it is normal for this. Rabbits have very rich milk and only have to feed the babies twice a day.[:D]

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is at 63 deg with falling temps and rain on the way.

Thanks for all the get wells. We are still fighting this thing. Went to work yesterday and only stayed for 4 hours or so. When we got home, fell a sleep, still on meds. We are trying again today.

Looks like Jimbo’s nite photo has really taken off. Maybe we should do a theme photo during the week. What do you guys think?

Pick of the Day

all be safe

Morning all. Dave, for an Editor, you don't read good. Baby and half grown rabbits don't have sent or very little [half grown ones]. Grown ones do. You needed another cup of coffee I think. [;)] Cloudy and warm. Think those storms are due this PM and then tomorrow will have some spotty showers. A little tractor work this AM and then into town to eat with Frankie and his "to-be". Tom, get well. God bless all.

Also if the mother rabbit stays to long at the nest, her sent will be there or if she pisses near the nest, it will have sent. This is why she leaves the nest during the day. To remove her sent.

Go Sox! A nice start to the season against the Tribe - sorry laz. Cloudy and cold today - back to normal I guess, off to take the kids to get new eyeglasses. Hope to work on the layout a bit later - I want to adjust one of the connectors for a signal light - ever since I've liberally ballasted everything, it hasn't triggered correctly.

Morning y'all!

Lots of rain last night but not the bad storms that were predicted. Chief, it ought to be heading your way later today, so stay dry!

I have a day off today, so here I sit waiting for a guy to finish installing shutters in my house (He was supposed to be here two hours ago, oh well). I've spent some time drinking coffee and working on a track plan with RR Track software for my new Oneonta & Opelika RR. I have several ideas, but I have not settled on THE plan just yet. That's OK - to me, planning is part of the fun.

My dogs haven't scared up any rabbits but they did dispatch some moles the other day. Dachshunds love to go after burrowing animals. Interesting thing I discovered abouth dachshunds - although the AKC classifies them as hounds (they use their noses to track) they are actually part of the terrier family. If you've ever seen a wire haired Dachshund, you can see it!

Good day everyone!

Morning all,

Cool 60's here today and partly cloudy.

Doug, as I recall you are using the 153C pressure contactors. The ballast has likely limited the movement of the track.

Our dog Maggie caught a rabbit at a Cub Scout campout no less. She caught the rabbit on open graound after breaking her chain from the ground screw we had her tied to. Luckily we got yo her before she did any apparent harm to the rabbit.

Spanky, your photo today is just magnificent! Great scene and composition!

Dr. John - Oneonta as in Oneonta, NY? Beautiful country upstate there.

Have a great day all!
Roy

Spanky,

I 2nd the approval of the photo; appears to be available light.

I discovered the sunrise and sunset landscape button on the camera and a page or 2 back, I took the photo of the signals on the VRE, moving about 50 mph, approaching Alexandria Va.

Seems every day I'm discovering a new function. Also the other day discovered the "action" button which sppeeds up the shutter. And the "night" button, which I'll try to use soon to add to Jim D's night post.

Got to lay some tracks now. Great dog stories, btw. BB is tuckered out from rabbit running this morning after scenting the adult pissing rabbits.

The rabbits make it easier to track them because as soon as they see BB, they pp in their fur!

***, there went the power for about the third time this week and my ups failed to keep my system up and running. Power goes out at least twice a week up here. We have Pacific Power & Light as our power company ... P.P.&L. ( Pathetic Pulses & Lightning )

Spank,

Cool trolley system. What kind of trolley car is that and how far do the tracks curving around to the left of the picture go?
Always enjoy your layout pictures Tom.

Bog the Zid

I almost forgot ... gas is up to $2.76/ gal. Seems to go up by about 8 cents/gal. twice a week. I'm almost afraid to drive downtown as my tank's getting down to the quarter tank level. That Canadian fellow - I can't remember who it was right now - spoke of gas at $.90 / liter. That figures out to $3.44 / gal. !!! Guess I've got nothing to complain about ... Yet.

Roy,

[:D] LOL!

Opelika is actually a town in eastern Alabama that is adjacent to Auburn (home of Auburn University). Most small Alabama towns have some elements of Mayberry in them.

I chose the Oneonta and Opelika name for the O&O reporting marks - The "Round and Round Route". (The reporting marks are not original, I've heard of several folks that have used O&O.)

On my layout the O&O would stand for the Oh-Oh! RR. My son might call it the Old & Ornery RR in my honor.

I have just returned from Huntington, West Virginia. While I was there I found one of the best train stores I have ever visited. The store is east of downtown about two miles and they have just about everything. They had Lionel, MTH, Williams, Weaver, Marx and tons of used trains. The prices were also great and they had two layouts, one an O and the other HO. They had train lanterns and other memorabilia all over the walls.

The name of the store: TRAINS [:D]

It is worth a visit. Also there is several places in town that feature train themes including a resturant near the river. Huntington, WV was a major B&O and C&O terminal and station. Amtrak still stops in town.

The track has bumpers on the ends and is about in a “U” shape. You can see track layout on our web page. Click on the icon below.

This trolley is made by IR. I also have ones by MTH and Lionel.

dougagroup;

I can't stand doing taxes. The wealthy find loopholes and lots of people cheat. The system needs to definitely be revamped. Too many regulations and stacks of forms and instructions. Enough to drive anyone insane. Then there's state taxes for some.

I'm going to log off now b/c for the last 2 days my computer has been sloooow. It took 5 minutes just to open CTT forum. And I'm using hi-speed modem. Used to work in a split second but I'm at a loss as to what to do now.

I disconnected the modem and opened a word document. Took a minute to open that too.

To test the speed of the computer, I played a game of solitare, won the game, and the cards traveled slow speed across the page.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm ready to beat this thing to death w/a sledgehammer.

[Dave - Spankybird has some real good advice. Also, if you are not storing all of your digital photos on the same hard drive as where the programs are running it can fill up the HD very quickly and slow things down.

About two years ago, I put another hard drive into my computer just for the storage of photos, video, web pages, etc. It seems to have kept this old machine running fairly good and I am on a high speed modem.

Hey Everybody,

Here in Vancouver, gas went up to 102.7 cents a litre and now tonight it went "down" to 92.9. You can add a dime a litre for premium. That translates to roughly $4.00 Canadian for a gallon of gas. My well kept V8 Buick LeSabre is going to be stored indefinetly. Your looking at 100 bucks for a tank of gas. Luckily I live by a transit hub and at $68 for a monthly city bus pass the car is just turning into a hobby.

Dave, I run a Macintosh which is running great with 3G left free on a 40G harddrive. Nevertheless I used to run Windows IBM type computers and mine would slow right down once 75% of its hard-drive was full. Find out how much memory you have. If your hard-drive is full that would be the likely culprit.

Everybody have a happy Friday,

Mark
