Good Morning,

Looks are deceiving, it's a beautifully clear/sunny morning but it's also 22 degrees with winds out the NW@20 AARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG, my plan was to get some miles under the bike this morning and work on the quads. We are headed to the mtns. in 10 days for skiing and I'm just tired of going to the gym, like Doug I'm very tired of winter.

Had two new door's installed Monday afternoon from the outside for the train room. The crew of 3 carpenters were just in awe of the train's so when they were done I fired the trains up and they were just like kids on Christmas morning, it's so much fun for me to just be quiet and let them talk. They are bringing their families back in the next few weeks so that should be even more fun. That's one of the real plusses about this hobby, the enjoyment that can be shared with others.

We opened the Broadway show Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby last night, I work six of the 8 shows so it's going to be a busy week with late nights. If the show makes it to your city and you have children, think about going, it's a good way to introduce children to theatre.

Stay warm.
Jon

Hello all!

Still fighting the bug but definitely getting better.

Yesterday's official high of 83 set a new record for Dallas.

Compensated today with cloudy and 50's.

Jerry - good luck with the house and some space allotment!

Good Morning Everyone!

Jeez, it's been a while since I posted in the coffee pot!

Tim, Glad to see that you're having fun in Vegas! I never realized that there were so many trains there.

Jerry, That house is beautiful! Good luck in building your future layout there! Keep us updated on how things go with it. I've always loved old houses. They just have something that modern buildings never will!

So what's been happening in my life?

Right now it's the February break and there's no school for this whole week. Saturday was the Yorkton Farm Toy and Collectable Show. In the past there's been trains and it's actually the place where I got my very first O gauge set. No O gauge this year, other than a beat-up Marx train for $65, but there was some HO stuff and I bought some buildings and rolling stock for my HO layout. I met a fellow at the show from Moose Jaw who's a prewar European collector and has a large amount of Lionel and Marx to sell, so I'll be paying him a visit the next time I'm in that area.

On Monday there was a blood donor clinic in town and I gave blood for the first and last time in my life. Giving blood was no problem and everything went perfectly fine. After I got home, though, it was an entirely different story! I got very sick and vomitted repeatedly. You're supposed to eat and drink lots after giving blood, but I couldn't even keep a few sips of water down without throwing it up. As bad as I was, though, I was fully recovered yesterday morning. I know that giving blood is a good thing to do, but I'm not going to go through what I went through again! I guess it's just hard on some people's systems.

I've also just been conditionally accepted in the University of Regina, so I'm excited about that. I'm going for a BFA degree in Acting. Acting has always been a talent of mine and I enjoy it immensly. Some people might say that this isn't exactly a practical thing to pursue and I can understand that, but I feel that I have to go for it and follow my dreams. I'm looking forward to leaving high school and going to university. I know Regina very well, it's only a two hour, fifteen minute drive from home and I've got toy train buddies living in the city, so I can't really complain.

Good morning caffine lovers,

It is a clear day outside, 45 degrees of sun, suppossed to pour today, we will see.

Jerry nice house, hope everything works out for you. Sounds like your parents are keeping your train needs in mind. [tup]

Sask, I didn't know Vegas was such a large place for trains. When we go back we even heard about a accessable yard for even cooler pics. Congrats on the acceptance into U of R. [8D]

Roy, keep up with the chicken soup, and OJ. Get better. [:)]

Jon, hope the show goes well for you.[:D]

Doug, take some pics when you get the mountain going. Good luck.

Expogs6 hey, my mom is from Duluth, way to cold for this SoCal guy. [:D]

Laz, so as the Laz Building Co, are we going to WI to help Jerry with his new layout? New road trip. After the snow leaves. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Take care all,

Lets be safe out there

Jerry,

Nice house!

Doug M.

I just spent $50 (probably overpriced?) on a Radio Shack multimeter. I'll put up a post about in a minute or two.

Dave, I'm going over to Radio Shack on the corner in an hour or so to get one of those things - it's called a multimeter, huh? Your post and Roy's response makes it sound a bit scary to me - I just want something I can put on the tie or rail is see if there's juice flowing through it and how much. Maybe I'll ask them that... Just got back from riding the Chicago El up to our Lincoln Park campus and back - rode the subway up and the elevated all the way back - I rode the first car so I could look out the front. Boy, my 027 curves has nothing on some of these turns. It was interesting to see much of the Brown (Ravenswood) line actually with superstructure to hold 4 tracks instead of the current two. The old tracks for the other two lines are still there except at the bridges.

Sask, don't totally write off the blood donating, the stomach upheavel sounds like nerves, the usually problems with blood donating are feeling faint and weakness. I've given blood for years till I developed a skin condition that they can ID but don't know the true cause so I thought best to drop out of the pool.

To all of you guys. Wisconsin can be very cold and very hot, even ask 3railguy. In winter it can be -10, in the summer it can be 105

Laz, the basement is large, but like all basements in fond du lac that are 100 years old, they are very crummy and the floors leak puddles even with a sump pump.[:D][V]

Never rained. Foiled again by WW. [worthless weatherperson] Could have worked at pond and purned grape vines. Killed a lot of time doing odd things. Now, I think I run trains again. OH, youngest is not moving back for a few months. She got transfer with hubby. So, trains can stay on floor until I can get some layout track laid. Frankie does not know it so he is coming Sunday PM to get his stuff out of train room. [;)]

Jerry,

Wisconsin sounds like a nice place to live. That house is peachy. Surely several rooms could be used for trains.

Baltimore in a few weeks, $135 per night; Harrisburg gone up $20 per night from last week for month of May, Nashville and Memphis, $107 per night. Cheapest, Wheeling WV at $78 per night. Now the best one. Orlando the first weekend in April. Now get this!!! Suite for $98 per night. Yes, around spring break.

You guys like strawberry jam?
If so you needed to be in Oxnard, Ca today, wednesday. Some stupid [censored] truck driver stopped with his trailer on the crossing. You guessed it, the Amtrak Surfliner hit it and destroyed the trailer turning his load ot strawberries into strawberry jam. Fortunately there were only six minor injuries and the train didn't derail.
How can anybody be that stupid?????????

Morning all.

It is a traveling week, so I'm not able to read much on the forum. Sack congrats for the acceptance. Jerry, if the train doesn't fit in the basement, build it outside.

Chief, check out Hampton Inn west of Wheeling. Trainstore just north along the river with BEEPS.

Good Morning all,

NE Ohio is cool and with snow. Temp is 26 deg and the weekend will be colder. And yes Laz we are sending some of it East and also SOUTH just for Chief.

Dave – very cute baby pics and BB is cute too.

Chris – I going to tell you girl.

Looks to me like macaste is doing marketing testing. For someone new, he\she is asking some interesting questions.

Thanks, guys reg. photo.

Jerry,

the basement sounds like the one I grew up with. I ran my Lionels on the damp dirt floor, got shocked quite a few times too.

If you build benchwork, ensure the legs are treated wood so you don't get rot. Unsure how trains will hold up to high humidity. Perhaps you might want to phrase that in the form of a post question

Morning gang. I think Tom is right about a certain person or sure is a lot of questions. I still think more profile needs to be required to register. Cooler here. Never rained yesterday. I committed to do other things and could have put in a good day working outside. Did not need the rain anyway. Now I can disk garden and start getting it ready for planting. Waiting for Burpee seeds to arrive. They are a little slow on shipping. Need to get some started in greenhouse. Well off to town to eat a Crazy Fire, go by high $$$ train store and look and then by "Train Lady's" to visit with "Miss Edna". Might buy something????? God bless all.

Roy,

I don't own stock in this company, but since getting my JuiceMan juicer, I haven't had any colds or other ailments.

If you place raw cranberries in your juicer and sweeten with apples and/or carrots, grapes or other fruit (but not mushy stuff like bananas which get caught in the strainer), your flu will clear up in less than 24 hours.

Mr. Juiceman himself said so and I can vie for it. Some other companies also make juicers. But don't buy a cheap model with low horsepower.

Roy,

Forgot something. Add a whole lime, peel and all to the juicer.

Remember, the lime and cranberries (about 1 cup) are the real medicine for the flu; the others I mentioned are sweeteners so you don't pucker up and go crazy on us. :-)

Wow, the whole thing, huh Dave? Didn't get the voltmeter yesterday - they had a whole mess of choices and no one who could tell me more about them. I'll go back... Sask, keep on donating blood - I know they need it - I sign up every time they come to campus.

Doug,

They couldn't tell me either. I think I'm going to go slow and just dial up the ohms (ensuring no power to the rails). That's all I need to do right now is check for continuity.

Later on, I'll try to slowly emerse myself in the other functions or ask my neighbor who is a telecommunications technician w/SAIC (he's a genius, w/only a high school diploma, he can run circles around the college guys, make about 80K a year as well)
