Good Morning,

Warming up a little down here, should be near 80 for daytime high by tuesday afternoon. No more frozen oranges on the tree branches.

Need to go to chiropracter this morning before work, my back hurts a little. Had a decent weekend, went to C.A. in WPB, but now my back is making me pay for it. Wiil work on wife's car next weekend?

Don, love the layout.  Idea of using the elevated track for the back row on the shelves is a nice touch too!

Jack, thanks, I actually do know what I am speaking of.  Thought of responding to the personal attack, but suffice to say that I have the education and credentials to back up who I am and what I do.  Lot of class using my son's sickness to make such an attack.  Hope this ends here, but if not, I am prepared to fire away, but prefer the humble approach.

Well, have only one case this morning and then I hope to head home.  Have to pick up Valentine's cards and candy for bride.  Already have flowers ordered.  I think folks are going to be suprised by how much they cost this year.

Plan on some layout work today.  Was thinking of asking plant ops at the hospital to cut the lexan for the control panel.  They have all the equipment to do it right.

Hope all is well and May God Bless,

Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s today.  Laz, I juggle the soccer ball by bouncing it off any legal point of contact of the body (i.e. anything except the shoulders on down to the fingers, and yes, to answer the question, "that area" is a legal (if painful) contact point as well :-)).  I usually start with one knee for as many times as I can and then switch to the other one, but I have been working on my toe juggles as well.  Watched "Housewives".   It was good.  Drove the truck to work for the first time in a while.  I had the usual fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning all

Just about got our last night shift in.  It has gone bay pretty fast as we were busy.

Don - your layout looks neat!  As you said, blessings are all around us, just have to look through the right lens.

JimF - I have forgotten lots of stuff, especially birthdays!

May God bless

Good Morning, (doubt very many are still up),

The Chief may have fallen in up at the lake, or got caught hotchin, surprised havn't heard from him today, and no post tonight........Strange.

Jim, those "blessed" moments are plentiful.  I can be at the office and get a little frustrated as a result of an obnoxious phone call, or just a difficult problem.  Simply get up, walk outside and look around a bit, and realize how fortunate I have it, and how blessed I am.  Then everything falls into place and problems disappear, and whole day goes better.  Watching children just takes it to an even higher appreciation.   BTW heard an advertisement for the movie on the radio.  I'm looking forward to watching it.

Kurt, thanks for posting pictures of the snow blower, I've never seen one before.  That is awesome.

Ray, I should have gone up to Arcadia today.  The train show in Buena Park was primarily all paper and plates.  Did see a number of lanterns, lights, and locks.  Even learned a little history about RPO lamps extremely interesting.

Laz, Thanks for the workout, I sure appreciate it.  However, next time I won't have new shoes on, it will probably be much more comfortable.  I really enjoyed the snack stop on the way home.  The chocolate wipe out cake was great!

Doug, be careful with that Chessie car!  From what I understand it can drive the cats wild.  We were able to contain it when it was here.  I received Susie Q from Fifey, will need to get some pictures done and post on the next SPF.  (BTW, Thanks for all the comments everyone, will continue.)

John, looking forward to seeing your pictures.  I sure admire your patience.  Around here things don't stay in boxes very long.  That is really tragic that the lady witnessed her husbands accident.

Brutus, when is your wife's birthday?  Post it here and I will remind you before hand.  Remember, Valentines Day is next weekend.

Roy, I just can't believe Mark is still driving, I mean after all he's as old as I am.  I need to pay more attention, just doesn't have the interest it did when there was a # 3.

Closing with some pictures of the highway work I did this weekend.  I'm hoping that as I get things to a "level", I will take on the task of trying to do some "real" scenery.  It looks so easy in the magazines, but artistically I am seriously challenged.

 And finally Murphy's Auto Sales

Do any of you remember that wager that I would have mine sceniced before the Chief would?

Now to go have some Raspberry Rumble Ice Cream.

Last Call, Ya'll,

Wife and I visited friends in Derry NH yesterday morning and more in Saco ME in the afternoon.  Racked up 240 miles on the road and didn't get back home until after midnight.  Today was Granddaughter Day at my place.  I'm out of gas.  Puppy hit 4 months old and is still too rambunctious for the little one, so we had to tone things down with the leash in the house.

Took a road trip with the puppy to check out Sir James' green spot emerging from under the snow.  Dog sniffed it, gave it two paws up, and then peed on it.

Bag Balm is working well on the puppies cropped ears, Dennis.  Vet said it was a great moisturizer and anticeptic, just like you said.  Thanks for the tip!  Glad your boy is feeling better.  You must actually know what you are doing. Smile,Wink, & Grin

DougDG.......   Happy B-Day, belatedly.  I'm going to have to go back and check Fife's math on your age.  Perhaps a lie detector test is in order.

Rich......prayers that the kids are feeling better.  And for Dave.  I know he'll get a shot of natural adrenaline when he finds out you've been doing what you can to help out.

Banks....belated welcome.

Patrick.....mark my words, this respite in the weather is temporary.  At least in these parts.  Hit 50 today here.  I'm not fooled.

DougM.....14 is none to soon to be dangling the carrot.  Buy your boy a subscription to Road and Track.  If nothing else, it will encourage him to read.

Buckeye.....thought the Ohio boys had more sense than to trust the Lake Erie ice.  They must have been NC transplants.

Kurt......my granddaughter never tires of my reading to her.  If you can get the kids hooked early, school somehow becomes easier and learning more fun.  I'm reading classic fairy tales to the little one now.  Reading before bedtime has become standard operating procedure when she stays over.  Gets the kids to bed easier and helps to wind them down.

Brutus......Maximus wants to know if he is permitted on the Tardis and whether Chewey can go too.  Said you needed dogs to discourage skyjackers and to sniff out counterfeit beverages like Chief's hooch.

Later, gang

Jack

Buckeye Riveter

Chief,,,,,,,,You are cordially invited to go ice fishing with some of the good ol boys from Northern Ohio next weekend.  Whistling Please bring your ATV because they are a little short in supply around Port Clinton, OH.

Boy my legs ache tonight.  Feels like I ran five miles or more today.  How are you doing fife and Chuck?

And bring some pallets also to make sure you have a sturdy bridge - Buckeye can engineer it for you!

Had those boys used some Grits the problem would never have happened in the first place!

Went to the big boat show today (already have a boat but it is nice to look anyway) and picked up a lot of info for lake property. Prices will not get much lower and I hear Obama and the dems are gonna give big tax incentives to buy homes this year.

Nice here but cloudy and should rain tomorrow. Apparently we are headed back into another draught this year after only 2 years coming out of the last one. 70's predicted all week! Cool

Mark Martin made the front row for Daytona. Hopefully he has a good ride for coming out of last years' "retirement."

Valentine Day cards procured today - flowers later this week to keep em fresh! Dinner Sat night.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

Regards, Roy

Okay - how embarrassing!  We have been running around for 2 days and getting the run around on these phones and just finally thought we were through everything.  Ordered a couple Domino's Death Discs for dinner, watched some tv (I Dream of Jeannie) and relaxing....  Finished pizza and the phone rings.  Wife, "Hello?  OH!  We'll be right there!"  Uh - we forgot, it was my Dad's birthday party tonight!  We jumped in the van and got there in time for cake and a good visit, but man!  We sure were embarrassed!  Any of you guys ever do that?  I'm sure we won't live this one down for a good long time Blush

Wife was busy with some projects, so I spent the whole afternoon and evening playing with trains.  First time in a while for that long.  Took some trains off and put on a PRR A-B-A PA diesel with 8 streamlined PRR cars.  First time being run for all.  Everything worked great.  Took the time to lube everything before running and I did add the coupler to the rear of the observation.   Since I had to take the roof off and remove the interior to get to the truck screw, I put some passengers in that car before I put it back together.  Will do the others a few at a time.  Can't make any money running empty passenger trains.  Made a few videos and will post a link if they are any good.

All have a good week.

If I hang this tin foil out the window just so, we may be able to pull in 'Desperate Housewives' on the scope for Mike.  I've got beer and monkey bread this evening! Just had enough time to snap a high cube Chessie boxcar which just arrived on Sodor. I'll post it tomorrow.

Good Evening All

Kurt, the GV show is ALWAYS the first sunday in march and november. And yes I may have to pay to get in. First time in countless years I did not have a table. I kept waiting to see what WBs was going to do.  I'm sure I could still get a table but I don't think I will.

Cooler but sunny day still have more snow than grass but its getting much better. 40s tomorrow and 50s by Wed. I spent most of the morning talking with Brutus via e-mail and the afternoon just slipped away. Banilla and peach pie tonite unless RT  baked something. get ready, mondays coming....S.J.

Good evening from balmy 37° F Southern Ohio,

Bride tells me it was beautiful today but I slept through most of it, ah night shift.  It was warm enough to come into work this evening without a coat.  It was warm last night too so there were no need to scrape windows this morning.  The reprieve in cold weather is very welcome.

DougM – At those times when all is right with the world, savor those, and use them to get you through the less than perfect times

Banks – Welcome to da Pot

DougDG – Happy Birthday!!! Any new train items?

Roger B – Gifts from God, super glue, Velcro, duct tape, WD-40, zip ties, heat shrink tubing, any others?

Well need to check on the guys and a few things going on.  Check back later

May God bless

Jim

Evenin' pardners Cowboy.  Took littlest cowgirl trailriding a couple of hours on the prettiest afternoon of 2009, thus far.  So if my legs hurt, it won't be from "my" 5 miler...  Came home after grocery shopping and did bone in ribeyes on the grill Dinner.  No trains this weekend.

Still think the diluted format led to too many wrecks during the Shootout.  14 looked good, but 26 looks like they got something.  My early pick for the 500 is Martin in the 5.  Never seen him smile so much after qualifying...me thinks Mr. Hendrick gave them a little something extra. Wink

Banks ---> Sign - Welcome.  That was a very kind offer.

Brutus - Laugh.

HI GYZ,

WOW what a day, 58 then went down rest of the afternoon.  Ran a nice 6 miles this morning, worst part was the WNW wind at about 30mph.  Had to endour this for about a mile, tough felt like I was going nowhere.  But it is in the back pocet now, felt great afterwards.  Hope FIFE< CHUCK DON AND BUCKEYEs legs arent bothering them too much?  Took it easy only took 53 minutes.  Then later in the day went shooting with BROTHER and FRIEND BILLY.  We shot my .308 SOCOM, BILLYs M1 Carbine, 38-357 lever action Marlin rifle, and his AK 47, also BRO 38 wheel gun with Crimson Laser grips.  What fun for 2.5 hrs.  Then came to my house and ran trains for the boys had Pitza, home made, and of course OL MILs.  Great day had ATF here Alcohol,  trains, and firearms all in the same day.

MIKE C , you juggle, how do you start something like that?

Stay Frosty,

Kurt, Doug is right - man, that thing is IMPRESSIVE!  Mike, I'll grab Doug then pick you up and we can swing over to get Sir James and Kurt, then get Ray and check the scope for anyone else that want's a ride Laugh

Went to the phone store, then picked up a belt clip for the new phone at Best Buy.  Took son to Barnes & Noble, then ended up doing family shopping at Walmart.  I guess we stimulated the economy enough for one day?  But, no train time and no work on the basement.  The phone guy will fix things tomorrow morning, needs some authorization from their office or something.  If it's not done when I get home, we'll dispute the payment and start calling up the chain of command.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s.  Oldest daughter was down with her family.  Had a nice visit.  Ran the Alaska set for the grandkids with no pileups!  Went to the YMCA for weights, track and juggling.  Watched the second railroad DVD last night.  I have heard Allison Krause is a good blue grass singer.  Beacon is lit, and I can drive again tonight after "Desperate Houswives".  I had the usual fare on the dining car for breakfast tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Afternoon all, went to my first TTOS meeting today after rejoining.  I have been absent from this particular club (Southwestern Division) for several years.  Looked like a great meet with all tables full and an auction with three sellers with large lots to sell.  Enjoyed talking to many old friends whom I've been out of touch with for a while.  This looks like a good venue to sell some of my overflow collection.  This was the second club I joined way back around 1972.  Remember many happy hours at this place bidding in the auctions they used to have.  This is where it all started for me in train collecting.  At that time we had two of the all time great auctioneers in this area who really moved the trains.  Of course that was before E Bay, MTH, K Line, Atlas O etc.  Now of course the market is flooded and the old trains are harder to move.  Even some new ones for that matter.

Weather here is still undecided.  Rained a little this morning and maybe more tonight and tomorrow.

Brutus, get the Tardis fired up and lets head for some tropical place for a while

Later, Ray

Had an unexpectedly pleasant visit with the extended fam, then spent the past two hours helping the middle boy parse poems. LOL. Hope to run trains when everyone is gone back to church later.  Kurt, that shooter of yours looked like a cannon when we were staring down upon it from the Tardis. Wink

I won a Lionel CB&Q U30C on the bay a few days ago. It appeared new in the box but the lights didn't work.  After opening it I found the connector that they used, the one with 4 springs to contact a plate, had broken at the mount.  Factory probably over tightened the screw since the body/frame screws were really tight.  Thanks to Super Glue and some engineering all is working fine.

With test running I've decided that this size is about the longest I want to run on my layout, the overhang just clears a couple of trackside items by less than 1/8".

 Hello All:

Banks - Welcome to the group. I am relatively new also, but you definite have these guys figured out.

Doug DG - Happy Happy when ever it is!

Buckeye Riveter -Weekend is quite for two reasons: 1) Chief is busy hoochen, and 2) a certain farmer is behaving himself.

fifdog - Good shoot out. Neither of us had 29 on our list.

Dennis - Ditto on the weather here in Virginia. Got to BBQ on the deck this PM!

Just checking in on a absolutely beautiful day here in south Georgia!  Took family to church, which was great.   I was on lights for the service, then we had a special marriage/parenting seminar for Sunday School.  We have been doing the Love Dare, and this fit right in.  I am currently out on the back deck as the kids are jumping on the trampoline.  Mid 70s, birds are all over the garden and butterflies making their appearance.  Just one of those moments when you know you are blessed.

Sunday photo fun is a joy, as usual.  One of the mistakes I made in building the current layout is that I didn't leave one loop up and running during the whole assembly.  I see some of the smaller layouts and note so many advantages those guys have....getting to enjoy your trains while folks like me just have to keep at building till everything is complete.

Well, I hope that everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Dennis

Brutus
Kurt, we were circling the house last night and saw your wife waving us away with a shotgun from the rooftop!  She shouted something about forced family fun and too many joy rides?  Tonight, we'll sneak in low under the radar and land behind that garden shed next door, okay?  Wink

Brutus:  Shock  That was my unfired Golden Spilke 30-06!  Shock  Good thing you didn't stop.  She'd put yer eye out.  Played soccer and read mysteries with 4-yo last night.  Great time!  Will do for tonight!  Beacon is on!  Blindfold

 Good Morning All !

Sign - Welcome  Banks, That was a very kind offer for the Train Expo.  Hopefully, someone may be able to take advantage of it.  Stay around and tell us a little about yourself.  The coffee isn't all that great, but there is plenty!!

Roy, Good to hear from you.  Sure your schedule has been quite demanding.  You need some time off!

Doug DG  - Happy Birthday WEEK, are they going to have a celebration lunch at the club this week, maybe a Thomas Cake?

Lots & Lots, going on here, too much to comment.  AND, I just found out taking the wife out for breakfast.  That will work out just fine, THEN RIGHT OVER TO THE TRAIN MEMORBILLIA SHOW.  Its held once a year, and usually find some pretty interesting stuff.

Spent yesterday i the tain room working on highways, looks good to me.  But definetly less than the standard of the forum based upon layout pictures.  But its UNartistic types that make you artistic ones look so good.  So everything has a reason.

Did get to see the shoot-out last night.  Hope its not a omen for Jr's season, he needs some better luck.

Got to go.....  don't want to keep her waiting.
