DougDG - better watch out or FEMA will show up and "help you" Laugh

Jack, there is always room on the Tardis, esp for folks from the coffee pot!  Dogs are welcome too, but there is a separate room for the cats Whistling

Well, we apparently got the double charge on the phones fixed.  Time will tell for sure (2 more days and we will know they didn't mess us up).

No train stuff today other than posting here and another place where a pal of ours is not being treated very nicely.  Go look and step up if you feel it.  You might smell some OGRes.  Lionel gives GOOD SERVICE, I think.

Speaking of which, wife now wants new ceiling fans.  I guess, since one of them blew a bearing last night.  These two fans were put in by the builder about 12 years ago and we have had them turned on the whole time I think, except for a cleaning or two?

Good evening all

One of our forum friends made a post on the other forum and the bashers swarmed in like locust, it's already way off topic.

I checked out a few train things this afternoon but no breaking news stories.

Chief, if grits and NC weather keep you sick all the time maybe being up noth ain't quite so bad after all. Except those minus zero degrees. Oh and snow. Other than that it's ok here.

Brutus fire up the thingy and let's go someplace and see something.

Banilla ready..S.J.

Good evening!  Having a nice evening watching Trains & Locomotives on the Prairie - Rock Island railroading.  Some old and new footage.  Grandma is in trouble!  She sent down money and a letter to congratulate son on straight "A"s on his report card.  So, after tithe was taken out, we headed to Toys R Us.  Kid picked up a Lego Farm set that retailed for about $50 more than the gift from Grandma, but fortunately, Aunt had sent him a gift card to cover the difference.  Only problem was that they now have him asking "what will You get for me for making straight As?

Also made arrangements for both kids to take Violin lessons.  They will get fitted for a violin this week.  Jon, the teacher does the Suzuki method as you suggested.  It will be good for them to learn as we know that music helps in many other disciplines.  Thanks for your suggestions.

Well, gotta run.  Chief, hope you are feeling better.  Charlie, best wishes for you.  RT, how is your back holding up?

God Bless,
Dennis

Evening all well the last of the Nascar items came in tonight so I now own 1 of every piece Lionel made of it guess will put some shelves up in soon to be train room and display them there.

Patrick Will try to get a pic of them all once I get up and all but that might be 6 months down the road as I want to paint that room first and have to wait for wife to get plants out first to do that. LOL.

Not to much happening here off the next 2 days so hope to get some relaxation in yeah right bet she has a honey do list already going in her head lol.

Had to laugh at work today as Sunday this lady at work said she was going to get a employee to switch positions for Monday with her as he was slow in the position he had well he called off this morning and they switched her to that position and she was crying that they didn't even ask her if she would mind doing that instead of what they had her assigned to. I told her she just loves to complain no matter what you got what you wanted and your still complaining.

Hope all had a good monday will talk to you all later

Your original post was hijacked by someone else to question my credentials.  Funny thing, I have left my information the same since I first logged onto this site.  All anyone has to do to see what I do is look there.  If they want my license information, check out the Georgia Medical Board, or, I also have a license in Tennessee, they can check there.  I also have my national boards and membership in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, American Academy of Cardiovascular Perfusion.  The person who made these accusations has nothing on their information.  I am sorry you were brought into this.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Dennis, IGNORE.  Anyone who questions your credentials is an -------.  Will not say any bad words as I promised Bob K I would behave.  I think you know that only a troublemaker would do that and try to draw you out.  If I ever have to bypasses again, I might just insist you come to visit Rex Hospital in Raleigh.  Of course you would be practicing out of state.  Anyone who keeps people alive while their heart is stopped and being operated is a hero to me.

Back from DR.  No phone call from Dr. so probably do NOT have "pewmoina" [had to have an Xray].  Still running a good fever with Tylenol.  On Leviquine and my cough syurp.   Crashing again as it took all I could muster to drive to Dr., xray and back from Raleigh.  Rich, got the box.

PS: Mitch, watch out.  Don't let it get too far.

Afternoon all!

Brutus:  Thanks for turning on the Captain's Choice mufflers, and not running open when you arrived last night!  Worked like a charm!

Charlie:  Prayers for your health as well.

DougM:  Buckeye should have your car now.  What happened to your car?

Doug DG:  I watched the news again today...seems like I do it to myself just to get the BP up.  Rumor has it that after the Trillion dollar stimulus package is approved, there will be another bailout.  We shall see.

Chief:  Prayers for better health.

Been building on the Sand house.  I can draw buildings and details in my sleep.  Building them is a bit of a challenge.

Seems as though I have come down with the sniffles.  My two year old daughter had them, now its my turn..I just hope that is all since I am only about 3 weeks past getting over pneumonia.

I did drop off my U-Boat to Lionel today for some service.  That went very smoothly...

Hope everyone is having a pleasant day.

Thanks again,

Afternoon All.

Another cold & rainy day in SoCal. Lots of snow up in the local mountains, it has literally poured buckets at times. Had to get out and clean out a gutter between downpours. 49* @ 1300hrs' brrr.

Our daughter and the munchkin came out yesterday morning so she could grade papers and we could entertain him, or is the other way around Approve , and the sil could do some major kitchen plumbing work w/o somebody helping Big Smile . Grampa made waffles and sausage for breakfast and after cleaning up the breakfast mess it was time to start a big pot of sauce with sausage and meatballs for a late lunch.

Then came train time, wrestling, hide n seek, dinosaur attacks and everything else a 3+ yo can think up.

After lunch I had the munchkin give his mother a b'day cake for her birthday, had to remind him a few times not to tell her ahead of time. 3yo's just aren't very good at keeping a secret. B'days, mine=11th, hers=12th .

Now, to try to watch the news without yelling obscenities at the bozo's in D.C. & Sacremento.

Reviewed lots of job postings this morning.  Submitted resume to one.  Then I worked on Federal taxes.  Will  be getting a little money back which is nice.  Thought I was going to owe.  I'm sure I will owe the state.  File state after getting Fed refund.

NHRA eliminations postponed until Tuesday.

NASCAR isn't very interesting to me anymore.   How many times has Mark Martin retired?

Afternoon all,

Having a fresh Cup o Joe and checking up with my train friends!  I got up after a couple hour nap and installed a 761 Semaphore on the layout that I did a rebuild on.  The only repainting was the yellow on the flag.  I used an off yellow rather than a bright yellow to replicate the aging because the rest of the piece has the original paint.  It was not beat up enough to do a total repaint.  It works great and I reused the control button from the 753A crane I removed.

Chief – Hope you feel better.

DougM – Advice for the sinus crud -  Netti-Pot!  Saline nasal wash.  Disgusting but works

MikeC – Juggling barbells, ShockI have a whole new respect for you!  BowArnold would be proud!Smile,Wink, & Grin

Going to go and wash cars.   It is nice out!

May God bless

And you can see the close passes, wrecks and bouncing off the walls on replays from 5-6 different angles including the blimp, in car camera and the Digger Cam (sorry fify). This was particularly rewarding during the Shootout.

Jack, thanks, I actually do know what I am speaking of.  Thought of responding to the personal attack, but suffice to say that I have the education and credentials to back up who I am and what I do.  Lot of class using my son's sickness to make such an attack.  Hope this ends here, but if not, I am prepared to fire away, but prefer the humble approach.

Hope all is well and May God Bless,

Dennis

Dennis.....I want to offer my sincerest apologies if I have offended you.

It was never my intention to make a personal attack on you or to question your credentials, nor was I making light of your son's illness.  I put the smiley in there with the "call a doctor" comment to emphasize the absurdity of what I said and to hopefully cheer you up.  When our kids are sick, hurt, or are struggling, we worry.  It was my feeble attempt at levity and I am sorry, honestly.  My expression of gladness over your son's recovery was heartfelt.  My comment about you "actually knowing what your were doing" was equally absurd, and I also put the smiley there to emphasize it.

I think I speak for all the other guys on this forum when I say I have the highest respect for whom you are professionally, as a family man, and as as a person for others.  And I mean it.

Please accept my humble apology.

Don, I enjoyed looking at your layout pictures.  Your layout is something like what I have done in that I don't use hardshell scenery.  I have a lot of things sitting around like buildings, railroad infrastructure, trees, whatever.  I did make a little habor scene on my layout using a Lionel Pennsylvania RR tugboat and some docks I picked up at a train show once.  I'm going to have to learn how to post pictures and get a digital camera that won't break the bank to do it.  My son is computer savy but does not have the patience to teach me the fine points like picture posting.

More rain today.  Looks like we are in the monsoon season now.  Small leak still a problem in front room but can't get a clear day yet to check it out.

I am starting a new quest to find some kind of 4-6-2 pacific type locomotive that I can trade for or afford.  It has to be DCS compatible.  I would prefer MTH but can't remember how many 4-6-2's they made.  The ones I recall are the Southern PS4 and a Santa Fe 4-6-2.  I would like to get something that I can paint if necessary to look like an Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-2 in the 1500 or 1600 class.  They were made by the American Locomotive Company and they had a ton of them.  It was the work horse of the "Coast Line" doubling on passenger and freight as well.  MTH made a one size fits all type of 4-8-4 in ACL but it is not prototypical.  K Line made the ACL engine I like but unfortunately sold out before I could get one.  That one came with a train set only I believe. It had TMCC but maybe I could eventually run it with a DCS set up utilizing a cable and Lionel command base.

Chief, hope you get over that nasty cough quick.  That sounds ugly.  You need to get back here.  They are telling stories about how you are making moonshine or some such thing and using the lake house as a front.  More likely, you are inventing new ways to serve grits.

Patrick, I'm not knowledgeable about NASCAR and all that stuff but I did get to see Richard Petty and Bobby Allison years ago when they were racing at Riverside, California.  I went to the drag races with a friend of mine a few times but that was too hard on the ears.

I think we have snow in the mountains here.  I will let you know when the clouds here lift enough to see it.

Later, Ray

Hi folks

Late today, took wife with me to the grocery store, big mistake, she walked around so slow I put a mirror under her nose to see if she was still with me.

Doug M. Kurt brought your MOW car here with him. he posted it on SPF a few weeks back.

RI I placed a sign under the tree that says its now rated two paws up.

So that has shot my morning, wonder what the rest of today shall be...S.J.

Patrick, (and everyone else) Thanks for the compliments.

Its going to REALLY take a lot for Martin to pull that off, Its been a Verrrrry long dry spell for him.  Almost as long as Kenny Schrader had.  Its hard to imagine that Jeff Gordon is one of the "old timers", but he did a good job avoiding trouble last weekend.  I had hoped that Tony Stewart would become a considerable factor, he does let his personality show through.  And, that's about the only place their is some real variance, cookie cutter tracks, about the only differance in the cars is the decals.  I gave up my season tickets to Fontana 2 years ago.  (Anyone need a scanner and headsets?)  Don't really miss them, much better home on TV.  Especially when it was 110-115 in the stands, and 140 on the track.  Fortunately, I've been to Rockingham, Phoenix, Vegas, California, and Daytona (not during speed week though, did do the Petty Experience).

This weeks objective ----  Susie Q,  started working on it.

Have a good one!!

 Good Morning All:

NASCAR news -fify picks Martin to win the 500. wrmcclellan picks Martin to win the 500. I pick Martin to win the 500. Do you think together we have jinks the man?

Be sides a win in the 500, Martin deserves a Cup Championship.

NASCAR has been somewhat subdued after loosing #3. We do have a replacement comming along in the form of Kyle Bush # 18. Don - keep an eye on him.

Don - Nice layout! To me, a work in progress like yours always looks good because it looks good at all stages of completion.

No benchwork showing, good building distribution, Etc.

I just noticed we have 22 pages to the POT thread, over 4,000 views and 322 replies. Not bad for 8 1/2 days!

Morning all. Grey and warmish here - not quite what I expected though downtown - wore too light a coat.  Hope the Chief feels  better! My cold has turned into some sort of sinus crud I must get rid of... Sir J, I am glad the MoW car and crew made its way to your layout - I heard it needed work. It is surprising how far such a specialty car can travel Wink. Valentine's Day? What's that? Is that something special I should do something about? Thank goodness for the countdown - I keep saying to myself when reading Fife's reminder ... I must do something about that...and another day goes by - Ack!  John, I look forward to seeing that spectacular PRR passenger train. Jack, I am envious of your trip to ME - I grew up camping on Mt. Desert Is. though I never went in 'winter'.  Brutus, I haven't yet forgotten something like that - the bride usually tracks it thanksfully, but I've come close... good thing you 'played it cool,' we're on our way...Wink.   Don, Murphy Auto Sales looks great Big Smile

Love it.  I have a name for each one of those critters.  I'll let you all guess who is who.

Welcome Banks.

Cheif came home last night from the lake house with a fever over 101 and coughing up chunks of yuck.  Went into crash mode and slept and slept.

New bath is painted, trimed, electrical complete, laminate flooring down and fixtures set in place for the plumber to do his work.

Back to crash mode.  Later.
