Charlie, I can see you all the way down in NC. Laugh

Jack, the Sussex Spaniel, Stump won best in show.  Oldest [10 years old] dog to ever win best in show.  Almost died in 2004.  A team of vets at Texas AM saved him.  The took 5 years off from dog shows.  Came back this year to win best in show.

SJ, going to have to find the codeine as can not stop coughing.

Good night,  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite. [Buckeye, Jon, Don and Chuck]

Chief.......I WAS watching Westminster!  You said it......that best-in-show win for Stump, at a record age of 10 years old no less, was the comeback of all time.  How they kept that dog alive was a miracle.  How they got that dog back in top form at that age provides hope for all us busted up old geezers.  I don't know much about conformation and the perfect specimen in a breed.  I just watch the show with the wife and try to pick the final 3 and the winner in each group, then the same for best of show.  But I'm picking based on what I like.  None of my picks even made it out of their group.  For BOS, I struck out again.  So did wifey.

You've got to have some serious cash laying around to travel around the country and show a dog enough and accumulate enough points to just get an invite to Westminster.

Doug, Count me out of the 'green thumb' group!  I can't get sod to grow.  I have a really good crop of dandelions though.  I gave my lawnmower to my fil, he now has 2, I do just fine with the weedwacker.

SJ,, When you talk about the weather, we had 3" of rain last weekend.  The current forecast is for showers begining tomorrow and going through NEXT Tuesday.  Then the LA County water dept, is announcing their plans for water rationing that is coming.  Things are just totally crazy, and of course everything is related somehow to the state budget issue.  Go Figure!!

RT, You forgot you offered to me, to take all the cookies I wanted.  How could I pass that up!  The Raspberry Rumble ice cream was better than the Choc. Chip, sorry!  BTW, how about using that HO stuff as loads for the Nascar?

Mike C., As a matter of fact I did hear reports about the earth moving.  But that is pretty commonplace.  Our whole area is located above a "liquification" area.  So most of the activity is very well moderated.  Sounds like your advice must have been rock solid.

Brutus, I hope you don't forget where I am, I have concerns that the "dancing neighbor" may be moving.  The past two weeks the trash pile on pick-up day has really been huge!  Maybe they are just renovating the poles?

Greg - That right position will show up when you least expect it!  Glad to see you don't let it get to you.  It is always tough.  Prayers for your success!

Chief - Watching a dog show on TV????  You need to adjust the rabbit ears!!  Or does Lucy control the remote?  BTW, answered your question on the thread regarding TMCC & DCS.  (I see you answered the questions regarding the characters.)

Charlie, How do I adjust the intensity of the light on that beacon.  There are all kinds of strange aircraft flying around here.  That is awesome!

Doug DG, Got the phone call, and explained where LA was in relation to SD.  He was going to send contact info, but havn't received it yet.  I did send an email out to the members about the idea of coming down.  Probably about 4 0r 5, are interested.  So keep me informed if a date is established.  I will invite Ray, to come along if he is so inclined.  If you saw the "Mentalist" wasn't the restaurant in the show the one next to the club in Balboa Park??  Sure looked like it, with just a little morphing.

Made my annual trip to Hollyweird today.  Delivered about 30 rolls of photo paper for the Oscar night.  Got an invite to come back up and get a behind the scenes tour, so will probably take Chris up there next week.  Could be interesting.  Did get a couple of souvenier signs from last year, will hang in the office with the autographed pictures from the various beauty pagents we have.  (One of our customers is the photographer for Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Ca., and Miss
Teen USA.  So when he takes their photos in the evening gowns, he has a mat available and has each of the contestants autograph it.  Then his firm prints out 17x22 pictures of all the contestants.  He then brings the image and signed mat into our office and gives it to me.  I have probably 4 or 5, they are really awesome and conversation items.  Doesn't do bad for potential customers either.

Finally, ran trains for about 3 hours tonight, with NO pile ups!  Susie Q, has been quite the "hit" here on our layout.  She has demanded alot of attention, however.

Evenin'/Early Mornin' All,

Crazy morning here, really cold and super frost last nite so the sun comes up and starts drawing some moisture up from fences, patio, etc. Next thing I see is it's raining on the patio under the patio cover, seems the corrugated tin roof was still frost covered and any humidity the limited sun brought up condensed on the underside of the cover and started drippng like rain. Blindfold

Don, Since I am only an "indian" I sent my thoughts about the meeting on to the "chiefs" and haven't gotten anything back yet. The more I think about it though maybe a friday would be good since he pretty much eliminated a saturday, the "younger" working folks Clown might have the ability to take a vacation day and make it a three day weekend. With the layout available as well as the Pacific Beach Room adjacent to the layout any kind of meeting with a demo/show & tell could be handled quite easily.

Supposed to be in the 20's tonite, gotta get out the long woollies to keep warm.

Nite All !

Good early morning

What a great day yesterday, temps in the 60's so I loaded up the cameras and headed to the open rivers hoping to get a few eagle shots as they are working the open waters.  No luck but I did interrupt a young couple in a remote area, ahem........Oops  Last year on the upper Mississippi near LaCrosse, WI area we had two eagles fly over on our bikes-----it was awesome.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy but warm (for now) in SE Indiana.  Did some Second Life last night and some eBaying.  Went to the YMCA for the regular routine.  Sometimes I can do the soccer ball juggling fairly well (like once in 10 or 20 tries) and most of the time it is one or two bounces at most.  Practice, practice, practice.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning as the "saucy wench" was under the weather.  She went to a dinner for her volunteer CASA group and soemthing must not have agreed with her.  Hopefully she will be better today.  Ran the trains on the Tardis last night with NO pileups!  Beacon is lit for tonight after "Lost" (I know Doug M will be watching as well).  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Greg, hope that if this is the job God wants you in, you'll get it and it will be even better than the one you left.

Supposed to get up to the mid 70s...again.  If all goes well, I should be home in time to enjoy it with the family before dark.

Chief, hope you are on the mend.  You are probably sleeping late after that codeine.

I am a bit tired today as the dog kept us up a good part of the night.  He kept seeing the deer in the back yard as the moon was very bright.  Wife tossed a pillow at him...didn't help.  Let him out for awhile, then he came back in all out of breath and drank a bunch of water.  Stayed by the windows for the longest time.  When I got up this morning, started to bark at him... I know, didn't bother him, but made me feel better.

I have the parts to fix a Polar Express tender that one of the guys at work broke at his home on Christmas morning.  Now, I just need to spend a little time getting it done.  Seems that when I am not busy with cases, I just want to be with the family or sleep.  Two more weeks and the new guy will be here.  Credentials Committee passed everything, so  he should be up to speed in a month or so.  Then, I will be able to be off call more and can actually take some time off.  Looking forward to  York.

GOD BLESS,

Dennis

Mornin' Fellas.

Not much goin' on in these parts - except this crazy project at work.

Wanted to thank RT on here for tracking down an AC6000 for me. Didn't need the one he found because I don't want the 'dummy' unit, just the power unit, as I have the SuperBass unit on order at the LTS. But thanks anyway RT!

So did I read that right? Dr. Dennis is going to be at York in April??? Looks like we could have a live one this year! Big Smile

Need to call the eye center today to find out when they are open... website says till 7pm yet when I stopped last night at 5pm no one was there! Banged Head Then need to call the LTS to check to see when the owner's brother is going to be around so we can get together to discuss the construction schedule for the curved wooden trestle... also need to locate a funding source - maybe I can get some of this stimulus bill Whistling seeing that our lovely new 'Pres' has seen fit to raise my taxes... Angry

---Edit---
GregM - Best o' Luck on the job front. Looks like things are starting to move for you... hope it leads to something permanent!

We always are awesome. Approve  See them all the time at Kerr Lake.  Was up at Fontana Lake [in the Smokey Mtns. National Park] fishing one spring.  Saw two lock tallons and fall until almost to the water.  Unbelievable.

Morning.  Lucy would not let met sleep late.  Had stayed up late watching a western on Oncore.  Maybe a snooze after breakfast.  Sunny and real warm.  Was 69 yesterday and I am sick and can not go fishing. Banged Head  Glad the "sausy winch" is getting better.  Prayers for all those looking jobs.  Dr's apt at 3:45 this afternoon.  Where is Rich?  Cold weather in FL get him. Shock  Later.

As stated last night we went to an auction we like the every other Tuesday night auction as it sold by the table and we can get a bunch of stuff cheap and go thur and get what we want and then resell the rest up there in a auction or at a yard sale here at the house.

Got my new glasses in Saturday (the VA mails them/ or you can pick them up I asked to pick them up ) well I could see better with no glasses than with them so went in Monday and asked if maybe they got a set in as I also got a not e at work they were in and remembered they had to reorder mine as they didn't come in. Well the correct pair was there and they said pair I got in mail ( which I already knew) was wrong frames and wrong prescription so there somebody out there with out a pair of glasses wondering where there glasses are lol

Morning all. Dark, rainy and warm today. Thinking back on the shingle I found in the yard after the snow really melted this past weekend. Not sure what to do about repairing that. Good ride in the Tardis last eve. Thanks for waiting 'til I got out of class, Brutus!  Jack and Mike, I remember as a youngster watching... was it Cam-Am? - big wide race cars at Lime Rock. Praying for your next interviews, GregBrent, you need new glasses?  Jon, I was fortunate to see a 'live' eagle once up in the UP (not the two legged kind - haven't  had that pleasure Wink)

Thanks guys.

As I was doing a couple chores this morning I was thinking about yesterday's phone interview.  I now think I may have been too optimistic about it.  Only time will tell.

Had a thought that made me laugh a few minutes ago when I was reading the posts since my last one.  A comment about racing made me realize I will be able to watch the twin 125 qualifiers tomorrow.  Would have missed them if previous plans hadn't fallen through.

The rain has melted just about all of the snow around here.  I don't think Ohio has a law like Michigan but I won't be surprised if it starts snowing soon.

Brent, you need new glasses?

Nope no glasses here... I ordered contacts last week and the eye center has been closed every time I've tried to stop by... just frustrating is all.

I'm actually hoping to do the laser thing soon... I've been waking up and either putting on glasses or sticking contacts in my eyes for over 25 years... kinda forget what it is like not to have to do that.

Our daughter had the laser thing done and it worked great for her. I was her "seeing eye dog" when it was done, be aware that you mite take a bit of ribbing afterward. To protect the eyes for 24 hrs you have to wear these gaurds over your eyes that make you look as though you are turning into a fly. Needless to say my sil and I had some fun with the jokes.

 Good Morning All:

Up to 70 and sunny today here in Central Virginia. Good southern weather. Got to grill something today, something that takes several hours sitting and watching on the deck. Probably dig out some 10 year old issues of CTT. With my memory, they will be like new issues.

RT and Chief - While I am here, I want to thank you for putting me on to hobbystation.net and Choochooauctions.com for NASCAR. I purchased the Dale Jr. train and the Stewart Expansion set.

This brings up a question - Does anyone know if NASCAR trains are out yet for the new rides, Dale Jr. 88, Kyle Bush 18, Stewart 14?

One suggestion .... I ran about every virus program out there ... finally found " AVAST " it's free ... updateable for free ... and I've never had  a virus since ! Stops trojans and viruses in their tracks . All you have to do is register it .... no strings and they give you the unlock/registering code free !  http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html   Believe me I had norton and all the pay all the time programs and they WERE NOT BETTER !

Well, case is done, I will be heading home.  Have to stop by to pick up some Dove chocolate as that is our usual fair for Valentine's Day.  I had bought a heart-box filled with it for when I proposed to the bride, so it continues.  Have to do it today as the next few days have some big cases and not sure I will get the chance.

Rich, glad you surfaced.  Was getting concerned.  Hope you feel better.  Make sure you take some time for yourself.

Brent, yeah, I may be making York this year!  Just gotta work out final details, but if nothing unexpected happens, I will be there.  Have some friends I need to catch up with.  I plan on driving up, so I can fill the trunk upSmile,Wink, & Grin  I only wish wife could be there, as I usually can/do buy more when she is present.

Gotta run,

Good Afternoon, Ya'll,

Got a call from Great Grandma last night.  Not happy.  Still waiting for pictures from Christmas.  Got to get going on that.

Dennis.....I have trouble getting back to sleep after a middle of the night interruption like yours and then am dragging the whole next day.  In my case, the puppy's evacuation schedule is off despite a strict timing regimen with food and water.  Will have to dicker with the schedule.  T minus two weeks and counting until you can get back down to a measely 12 hour workday and fewer middle of the night road trips to the hospital.

Chief.....hope you are recovering nicely.   I have to agree with the others.  The cause of your illness was probably your hooch.  I accidentally spilled a shot of it down the drain last night and it ate right through the pvc.

Don.......moving the wife from her existing hobby to another that doesn't require my participation.  HMMMMM. Just how do you go about doing that without causing suspicion?  I'm willing to pay for your advice.

Greg.......things are heating up for you Thumbs Up.  Keep the hammer down and our prayers will get you over the top.  I agree with your observation about the move away from family.  Plus, living near Laz' neck of the woods might be too expensive.  Think of all the guns, ammo, and Ole Mils you would have to buy.

Laz.....send your 60 degree weather to your right and up.

MikeC....hope the saucy wench is back to full and equal strength today.

Jon.....interesting post about the eagles....." Last year on the upper Mississippi near LaCrosse, WI area we had two eagles fly over on our bikes-----it was awesome."  Gives new meaning to the term "if pigs could fly," only this time it was hogs.  Shouldn't have left your bikes unattended like that.  Bikejackers! Big Smile

DougDG......temps in the 20s in Southern California.  Now that is scary.

DougM......ah, yes, the good old days when the Can Am cars were running no holds barred and there was no substitute for cubic inches.

Patrick....better you than me on the grocery shopping front.  When I come home from the grocery store, I get chastised for buying all of the sinful things she told me were not on the list and that she had told me not to buy because she would eat them.  At least she doesn't chastise me with her mouth full (of the goodies).  But if I agree with her that she shouldn't have them while trying to take them away from her...... almost bit my head off more than once. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Later, gang.

Jack

Jack, I heard on the radio yesterday that the reason dog shows have such a following is that it is addictive.  If this is the case, you may need to work on the 12 step program.Smile,Wink, & Grin

As to waiting on the new guy, yeah, it will be a much needed relief.

Don, I saw those mountains too yesterday from Glendora while out walking.  They are beautiful now.  I have not seen them with that much snow in a long time.  Back in the early 60's we had a lot of rain and snow like that.

Have to do something about cleaning my pool today.  Filter needs cleaning out in order to get more suction on vacumn.  Lots of windblown dirt to get out.  I hate to fool around with the pool while the water is so cold but have no choice.

Chief, glad you're posting again.  Hope your Doc can fix your cough.

Ran trains yesterday with no crashes. N&W class A and NYC Hudson got workouts.  Ran my kit built Walthers passenger cars with the Hudson that I built many years ago before all the stuff we have now was available.  They still look good but those old Walthers trucks need bushings to keep the axle points from drilling holes in the soft metal castings.  I built 5 cars for NYC and three more lettered for N&W.  I still have a Walthers 80 ft. dinning car to build but don't know if I ever will.

Have to get out now and take my walk.  Been trying to walk more between rainy days.

Later, Ray
