I agree even with my joking remark to chief It was great the out come on this. I'm amazed there were no injuries and the quick reponse from the people on the river.

Received the following in an email today for a position I had applied for many weeks ago.
Dear GREGORY:
Thank you for your interest in interviewing for the position listed below. This is to advise that this position will not be filled at this time.
There are so many winged creatures flying around my back yard it looks like a scene out of the Hitchcock movie "The Birds." Some are flying just a couple feet from the patio doors. I have been told that this means more SNOW.
One finally landed on the edge of the deck and started eating some of the snow.
cnw1995 Laz, I keep beer in the garage during the winter - it froze! Never had that happen before... 'course it's cheap beer.

Good Morning,
Congrats to grandpa Buckeye on the new grandchild!
A little cool here in south Florida around 57 this morning.
CSX has a train wreck with a truck at a crossing on tuesday morning here in south Florida, was foggy and there were a few other vehicles involved.
This website acted up on me again the other day, either wednesday or tuesday, I was trying to veiw the old Coffe Pot thread for 2009 and the site froze up on me. A week earlier the site did the same thing so I emailed Bob Keller, a.k.a. ogaugeoverlord and told him about it. Might be tempted to go to the other site for O gauge trains if things persist on here.

kpolak Morning all! Buckeye: Congratulations on the new baby! What about GP, RS, or ACE as names? Maybe Lionel as a middle name? Kurt

I really think NORFOLK SOUTHERN is great for the first two names.
Well, forecast low tomorrow AM for us 15 and lake 12. High tomorrow for Roseyville 27 and lake 25. Who cares, lake is 8 feet above normal. Private ramp is flooded.

Brent, I hope the interview goes well for your wife. Sad to hear that her current company is having hard times.
Good Morning
Buckeye congrats on the new grandson. Youv'e know since yesterday, train set should have been ordered by now.
Chief move a few hundred miles farther north and you could buy a house with a bathroom. The dogs should still go outside though.
Cold -1 when I got up, sun is shining and the furnace is running about every five minutes. Electronic thermostat is trying to keep even temp in the house, furnace is a 92% but the blower noise drives me nuts. very very thankful it is working though.
Charlie glad you had a safe trip home last nite.
Everyone have a safe day...S.J.

Jim, short answer is yes. I can't discuss it any further here as it may violate my severance agreement to do so. Suffice it to say, I am familiar with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Congrats Buckeye
just looked outside and looks like I am snowed in for awhile, but main roads are probably fair shape as we are the last to get plowed anyway.
Three projects going at the moment 1. Layout(need to checkout Robbies hobbys) 2. Building a resistance soldering station 3. Waiting for a box from J & R music world with some computer up grade parts and a new computer game
Brutus, How goes the electronics experiments?
Buckeye Riveter Chuck.... Why the recommendation for the tubular track? Have you ever hear of any complaints about other track systems?

Buckeye..... I heard a faint rumor that a couple of guys, who are very new to trains, were having a problem with " the other brand" of switches. It probably wasn't true. They just needed attention. But ANYWAY....

Good Morning from cold (18°F) Southern Ohio,
I took the Grandkids into school this morning and been doing a lot of running around. Hopefully be able to work on the 751 today. Bride will be gone ost of the day and I can have the house aired out before she gets home.
GregM – I will keep an eye out for IT type jobs being posted. Ever do computer security work?
Brent – Prayers for your friend and your wife.
Buckeye – Congrats on the boy!!!! Yes, I’ve heard of it but have only seen pictures http://www.forgottenoh.com/moonville.html As far as a train, get them an American Flyer! There is a lot to be said for being the underdog!
Jack – Thanks for the condolences. Our pets are special and what you said is very true.
Time to start working
May God bless
Jim
jonadel Buckeye-- You are missing all the fun, my thermometer registered -21 this morning and our high will be -5, YES!! Sadly, it all comes to an end this Saturday when temps are predicted to be above normal, perhaps in the 30's, dang it anyway. Even worse, no snow for at least the next 5 days I'll be gone to far north east Iowa this weekend, working and looking for colder weather. I'll be going past Iowa City, want me to drop off your resume for the color commentator job?

Jon....
I was dissappointed to learn that we are going to get above freezing a week from today. Until then we are so lucky to see only single digit temperatures. Please see this link. http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090115/NEWS16/901150327
In Ohio, we refer to it as being Toledo Tough. As to the position in Iowa City, does it come with free meals in the Amanna Colonys?

The name Mike was trashed along time ago, but William and Lionel are still in the running.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is cold. 6 degrees. Going up to 22 today with sunshine. About 2 inches of snow on the ground.
Today is an easy day. I have a few things to do and then I will relax and run trains later.
Buckeye....Congratulations on the Grandson. Lionel is a perfect name. When you buy his first train set...Stick to tubular track and switches.
Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Morning all. Yeah, it's cold here too - schools cancelled including the high schools where they were having final exams. They don't go back til Tues - lucky. Glad to be working at home today.Laz, I keep beer in the garage during the winter - it froze! Never had that happen before... 'course it's cheap beer.
Great to hear from Jack - I was just musing that the only reason I'd go outside today (-21 here right now, Jon) would be to clear a path for Rudy - our wonder dauschund -- he's so low-to-the-ground.Prayers for Greg and Susie again on the job front. Greg, I was sure tempted about that Land-of-Nod train - Boscov's still has a few bargains too. Just think of how you'll love that Big Boy when it finally arrives - I can't think of an appropriate cliche.Hope Mrs. Wes feel ok today after her fall.
Well now I am upset. I just checked the Lionel shipping schedule a few minutes ago. The Lionmaster BigBoy has been pushed back to May of 2009.
If I had know this, I would have bought one of the $99.00 special sets. I have the money for the LMBB set aside and have every intention of purchasing it when it comes in since I pre-ordered it last February. Plan to honor my commitment to my LHS. What is that saying? These are the times that try men's souls.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Morning. Sunny and cold [but not real cols like they say tomorrow will be]. Went to bed early. Lucy woke me up at 3:30 AM. Took her an Burg out for a pee and poop [as I usually take them out around 11 PM and they missed it]. Back to bed. She woke me up at 7:30 AM as usual. I hope no Town stuff today except drop by TH. You know what that means. Probably be "drug" into something that will take up my time. Do hope some trains are calling me from upstairs wanting to be run around the track. Right now, running outer loop conventional and inner command. Real fun.
Jack, understand about your "kids". Glad you are back. Missed your humor and chats.
Buckeye, OH NO!! One Buckeye is enough. Now there willb e two to fight.
88, Prayed for Susan and getting a new secure job closer to home.
Yanks, be careful. Don't get wrecked or hurt in all the ice and snow. Things like Mom slipping down is not good. Us older and tall folks hit harder than kids.
Have a great day [I'm getting things ready to shove off to the lake house tomorrow]. God bless.
PS: Greg, read your post after mine posted. Great thing you do when you give kids trains. Good job.
Wow, lots of posts since yesterday.
Buckeye,
Congrats again on the grandson. I was really tempted by the $99.00 special price for the Pennsylvannia Flyer set from "The land of Nod." There is a thread on the other forum about it. If our situation had been different, I would have probably bought two. One for our grandson and one to donate. I paid $60.00 years ago for a Micro something or other Lionel train set for the neighbor boy. Both he and his sister were part of our family for a long time.
Almost forgot, set is "sold out" according to another thread. Glad as it removes the temptation.
HI GYZ,
16 and a snowy start. That means a 2 hr. delay, YEA!!!!! Hopefully a 2hr. delay tomorrow for cold weather? Hey GYZ, I don't call em but I like em.
BUCKEYE, BIG CONGA, on the newbie! Start him off BIG, a maybe LIONMASTER BIG BOY?
BUCKEYE, sounds like you didn't leave the hockey game when you were in your car? "Cars in the ditches" any in the penalty box?
I might have to put a few OL MIL outside tonite to see how long it takes to get cold?
Stay Frosty,
Good morning all,
First of all, congrats to Buckeye. Grandkids are great. It is cold but the roads are clear in SE Indiana. That made the commute easy this morning. Trip to Atlanta was interesting, but overall pretty uneventful, which is good. I hope to get back to a "normal" routine today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Yeah, I agree, lighten up. After all, I still haven't seen her with her witches hat...., yet.
24 degress now and up to 53 later. Cleaned up up the train room a little and I am out of room. I have 2 main lines and 4 full consists on the layout. Either it's time for more storage aor more trackage.
Sorry Lucy, didn't mean to startle you....Frankfurters would have been a better terminology..but then again, my cats were laughing about it.
Daughter has a basketball game tonight then no school until Tuesday. Can't figure that out. They are now talking about cutting the last 45 minutes from the school day to save money and going to 3 periods a day on an A/B schedule.....wonderful.
Congas there Buckeye...a nice PRR GG1 or a Conventional Classics CNJ FM set would be nice...
I'll check in later...be safe!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Buckeye, congrats! I thought you were going to offer up William or Mike instead of Lionel...is Atlas a little too off the beaten path?
SusieQ, good luck on the job front.
It's darn cold outside. We received 6-8 inches of snow last night. It was very light though. Wife and Jack fell down at daycare. Wife took the brunt of it. No one there to really shovel. I should have picked Jack up instead. Oh well, next time.
Nice to see everyone posting, even if it's a sad topic. I feel for all of you guys and always wish you the best.
Wes
