That is the reason to "Pot" was created.  To laugh with each other, share and get to know each other.  [actually I created it to get the word GRITS all over the USA and abroad]

Good mornin', ya'll,

The trees are still resisting the approach of Fall, green as can be.  That will be changing soon.  New England is quite the tourist destination for Fall foliage viewing.

As a born-and-raised Midwest boy, this NE area of the country is quite different.  Unlike the Chicagoland and Northern Illinois area from whence I came, the roads are not straight,  the grade is anything but flat, and the landscape is generally well forested.  From the air, the number of ponds, rivers, streams, and heavy forestation could make one mistake Northeast MA for Northern Wisconsin or Minnesota; and I have taken relatives out for (rented plane with pilot) 40 minute small plane rides when they visit.  I still can't figure out who owns these vast expanses of land that seems to have successfully resisted the ravages of development over the centuries.  Add in the MA coastline and the surrounding protected wetlands, and you have a serene beauty that is hard to surpass.

Got a distress call last night from a very distraught wife.  She discovered a 9 inch by 4 inch dent in the roof of HER precious Infinity when she went to leave work around dusk.  Car was parked next to the bulding in a legit parking spot.  Seems like roofers showed up and neglected to have closest parking spots vacated/roped off just in case.  No signs either.  Facilities guy took no precautions either by simply informing employees of the roofing work or simply asking employees to vacate close-in parking.  Double Dunce [D)]

I had her jump on the facilities guy (she knows him well, wouldn't let me talk to him) by phoning him at home last night.  I advised her to not tread lightly.  Curt. Short.  To the point. State your unequivocal expectation.  Told her "p/o'd or severely disappointed approach" is a good start to make sure he is her advocate and not the roofers'.  Angry [:(!]

With a $1000 deductible, I am not about to front my cash or negotiate.  Whatever happened to "an ounce of prevention?"  Will be looking for them to provide alternative transportation while the car is laid up as well.  An unnecessary pain in the caboose.  Banged Head [banghead]

Did you know auto and property/casualty insurers keep a data base by client of all queries from the insureds which are used against you for rating purposes, whether your carrier pays out anything or not?  This data base is also accessed/used by other carriers' underwriters when you solicit quotes.  By law, your carrier has to provide you with data contained on you in this file.  Not sure what the retention period is.  Nor the technical name for the file.  Will check.

Later,

Jack

Evening all Well finally got my trains in today and figured out what dumb dumb here was doing wrong. Okay I'am new to TMCC and not the greatest on electrical works mainly because I've never really applied myself that way. I'm starting to get better but really need some basic books on electric so I can remember how to do some things lol anyway LAZ thanks to calling Brutus after talking to you I did some reading but still nothin was working. Well my problem was ( okay you all can laugh at this mixed up yankee) I was thinking the base was the powermaster and the powermaster was the base so I unhooked the base ( thinking it was the powermaster) and was tring to get everything to work thru the powermasterBanged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Confused [%-)].

Anyway after a couple of emails to go with the talking figured out what I was doing wrong and got everything hooked up right and away I go with all working crew talk and couplers and all that explains why it was stuck in conventional mode as it was being run with the powermaster not the base lol.

That NS really sound great it sounds 10 times better than the Chessie  and there both tmcc. Wife thought a real engine was around when I blew the NS horn. I'am one happy child tonight told you all I felt like a kid on christmas eve yesterday Big Smile [:D]

Haven't even unpacked the rest of the cars with the Chessie set its a preimum set but I'm wonder if the engine is scale as it looks so small compare to the NS is the sd-90 that much bigger than a GP-30 in real life haven't really been around a lot of trains.

Well time to go run trains somemore have the PA passenger cars in tuscan behind the NS it looks real niceWhistling [:-^]

RT,

Checkout www.coilcouplers.com , they have some great tutorials on installation and operation of TMCC. Much better info than what you will find on the Lionel site.   Thumbs Up [tup]

Mitch.....one problem I bet you don't have at your new school, parking and a place to drop off/pick up.  My Granddaughter's school has neither, though the rennovation of her school looks first class.

Morning Folks,

Been a few days since I stopped in. Been super busy with work 6 evenings of Back to School Nights.  Next year we may combine 2 grades on a night, but then parking will be a problem.

Jack - You'd think we'd have plenty of parking, but it is not the case. Regulations about how much land can be paved and then the footprint of the school on the lot, plus there was an 80 foot vertical drop from back to front.  The topography made it difficult to fit in the building without excavating the whole darn 20 acre site.

SIL and family live between Houston and Beaumont.  They are hearing they will be without power for approx 4 weeks.  What a mess they have and just 3 years after Rita devastated that area.

Take Care,

Mitch

Great news RT!  Sounds like you're having a great time!  I have an Atlas scale GP-15, and a Lionel scale H16-44 (Baby Trainmaster) and the Atlas scale is considerably larger than the Lionel scale.  Scale cars do look too large for the Lionel scale Engine.  I usually put a couple of piggies next to the Lionel engine to help it fit in.  You're gonna want some steam power next!

Brutus:  Done with the board in the Basement?

Hope last night's pizza didn't keep anyone up like me...Daughter popped out of bed to join me watching train movies at 3:00am...I was up since 12:15am.  We finally tried to go back to sleep at 4:00am.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  The wife and I picked up sticks brought down by Ike for about an hour last night.  No soccer as "my" soccer girls' game was postponed (presumably due to the host school being w/o power).  It is rescheduled for Wednesday of next week, which means a brutal four games in five days stretch of activity.  I did a little bit of "work" work as well.  I got an interesting couple of calls from Lucas as he is learning the intricacies of using a debit card.  He was in a panic as he thought some one else had used his card.  Turns out the dates he sees online are not the same as the actual transaction dates.  I just never know what will happen with him.  I had streusel and cereal again this morning.  Looks the dining car was late arriving at "Points East" and so I will send it there next.  Brutus, I will have the signal ready for the Tardis pickup tonight and zucchini bread coming out of the oven.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all.  Big time in the old town last night.  Ribbon cutting and etc went great.  Was inside due to rain.  Then Board meeting wnet off great except the computer that records the sound fried.  Worked great earlier in a test.  Getting ready to go to Mom's down east.  Frankie and I are going today and others tomorrow.  Tomorrow she will be 92 [she keeps insisting she is 82].  Closing on Lake House is tomorrow.  Rained good so we are now out of the drought.  Turnips growing good.  Grass too.  Have a good one.   BTW: wife's buddy and guy who works for her was admitted to the hospital on Sunday AM with chest pains, sweating and shortness of breath [in his mid 40's].  Called wife Monday AM at work and said he probably had heart attack.  Wife upset.  Was at work yesterday AM.  Acid Reflux. Merely commenting on my findings with the Lionel 'scale' engine size compared to the Atlas scale size engine.  This might not be the case with other scale Lionel engines.

Good morning,

New trash can has scratch and bite marks from the racoon, guess he got upset he couldn't get in and have a buffet again. The new trash can is a Rubbermaid Brute, just hope it can survive a few more attacks by my neigborhood racoon. Was told that I may have to build a wooden frame for the trash cans to fit into and have a hinged lid for it. I have the pressure treated lumber so now I just need nails or screws to put it together.

Was with my freind yesterday and helped him repair some track problems, a couple of shorts and one curve that keeps derailing stuff, fixed the shorts but may have to buy new track section for the curve or elevate the curve slightly.

Morning all. Sunny, cool and dry again today. Good class last night. Thanks for plucking me off the back of my train home with the Tardis, Brutus. Next time I'll time my jump better. Jack, you resurrected good memories of my growing up in Connecticut. Biggest surprise of the Midwest for me: the vast expanse of sky you can see (too many tall trees where I grew up) and all the sidewalks. Parents night at the high school tonight - I feel I already 'know' the middle boy's teachers. ;)  - dang, hope my head clears soon.

Still no power at Roger's Corners.....but it is warm outside and not 20 degrees which is the normal temperature for a power outage in Ohio.

Roof of new school near Roger's Corners, Blacklick, OH to be specific, was ripped off in the wind.  Older hanger building at the east end of Port Columbus had the roof ripped off.  Many traffic signals running off of generators.  Columbus Public Schools still without power.  Power poles being replaced all over the city.

The 70 mph winds cut a swath through Ohio approximately 150 miles wide.  Shock [:O]

We are scheduled to get power at home on Saturday.  Sad [:(]Smile [:)]

It is hard to believe that after Texas, Ohio had the second most damage from Hurricane Ike.  Of course, we did not have towns flattened along the coast.  Our power crews were in Texas helping out when this storm hit Ohio and now most of them are back in the State.

One interesting observation is what specific neighborhoods worked together to clear their streets and yards and the ones that said, "let's just wait on the city".  They are still waiting.

Im back from having both knees scoped yesterday.  All went well.  It's amazing how fast you fall asleepwhen the general anesthesia is released!  Woke up feeling pretty hung over.  An hour later I was at Chipotle eating lunch.  Slept most of the day.  Vicadin is good stuff.  One pill every 8 hours is plenty for me.  Knees look good.  Left knee had miniscus cleanup and a cyst removed, the right knee had a cyst, but also had bone on bone issues in 2 spots, so he did a micro-fracture proceedure to create a clot that I guess turns into scar tissue, something like cartlidge.  Swelling is pretty low considering I have three 3/8" slits cut in my leg.  Im supposed to stay off the right leg for 6 weeks.  York, here I come. I'll be the one on crutches!

That's about all!

WES, good news.  Take it easy and don't push it.  I had my knees done 3 times, once for a ACL operation and the other two for scopes.  Try and get that range o motion down but don't push it.  Steady daily grind until you get it back.  Good Luck with them knees.

Sir James:  I looked up the actual dimensions of the H16-44 and the GP-15, and wow what a difference...They are both 1600hp and 1500hp respectively, but the GP-15 is a lot larger.  Wierd.

Wes:  Good news on the knees!  Maybe Fife can push you around in a wheel chair.  Whistling [:-^]

Buckeye:  Keep feeding that hampster those grits the Chief sent you...looks like he needs to run quite a bit to keep you posting.

Spent the morning trimming out a window, and the afternoon trying to figue out why the HP won't print the yellow ink out.  I ended up chatting with a HP tech, and the final result was the regular color ink cartridge was low, but not low enough to register as low.  I replaced 2 photo color cartridges, and was running all the HP tools I could find.  Now daughter can take her photos in for school tomorrow.
