Laz57, When I had my (English) nuts crushed (vasectomy), I was in bed for a week!!

Stockport is covered in white stuff, about 25mm 1" to the Luddites, forecast is rain, so I guess that's it for this year (I hope?). Just had some very poor weather up North (Scotland), roads and bridges closed due to wind and snow.

Got a recliner too Chief, a good spot to watch Lionel though, I just set him off at a steady trot, I think I've finally got the hang of the Lionel controller thingy but after twenty minutes or so? I have to shut him down, My modest layout is laid directly on to my lounge carpet around the TV. A loco' and five cars make quite a din.

Hope all those who are ill, get well and those who are well stay that way.

Reclinerized too much.  Went to sleep as new came on.  Think I was on it.  Got interviewed after our big meeting with the Raleigh Mayor.  Sir J, if I had flown in, snow would have been measured in feet instead of inches. Shock [:O] Room is FINISHED!!!  Got to take up the old carpet and haul it to the container site.  No big thing with that.  Pam's nephew and a buddy are suppose to come and help with that and move our old bedroom suite upstairs.  Now big bedroom suite to be delivered tomorrow afternoon.  Got ot get to Miss Edna's and drop off items that RT sent.  Will be busy.  Buckeye, you forgot this one [aimed at Roger's Corner]?

Good night.

HI GIZ,

MITCH glad you got your CANDY STRIPES back.  Hope she is doing fine.

Well today with school out went and did some ballast work on the last section about 8 feet by two feet.  Took about an hour and a half.  Used the crushed English walnut shells, elmers glue to keep it down, and then elmers glue with black acrylic paint for topping of ballast to look like dumped coal loads.  Came out looking great.  Later in afternoon ran trains.  All ran good NO PILE UPS.  Then got caught up on the episodes of the wire on HBO.

Later,

laz57

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.  The Mrs is doing OK, more soreness and swelling in the foot but not too bad.  The stomach virus is gone, no more vomiting, etc. Her back, neck and knee are a bit sore too, but nothing she can't manage.

Schools were closed today due to the ice storm, so I took a vacation day to stay home and play nurse again.

Take care,

Thanks Grayson,

I'll have to try to get my stuff done so I can troop up there.  Last week when I made the same trip, when I got off the national shuttle bus, they were out of the fullsizes  and I go stuck with one of the Cadillac crossover SUV's....I found the 6500RPM redline repeatedly....... Hope I get lucky again!

GOOD EVENING All

Lionels new catalog has given me sticker shock,it appears this retiree will be buying at the closeout window and I have no doubt at all that MTH will be the same.

The big snow turned out to be three inches which as you know by now is fine with me.

I finished CTT today but was almost done and didn't know it. Sat down and found I only had a few pages to go. Our Electrolux quit today,or actually the brush motor, its old and I'm thinken a plastic Hoover may be cheaper than fixing what we have. Something to check online for info I guess.but we have all the big stores to buy from no need to buy it online. can look though..S.J.

Grayson, I'll be flying into Atlanta Monday morning and then driving down to Griffin on 314.  How far north are those two shops, and how late do they stay open, I'd love to stop by but my time is somewhat cramped.

Thanks,

Evening fellow O Gaugers.

Have'nt been posting in a while, been busy thinking about my layout. Currently I am in Buford, GA, (Where Trainz and Legacy Station is [;)[ ). We was on top of Fort Mountain in Ellijay, GA last night. If would like to be in hurricane force winds with out a actul hurricane you should have been there last night! We was in a lodge on the summit of that mountain and about 6-7:00 that night the wind started blowing..... And I mean BLOWING. The weather report this morning said that the winds got up to 70 MPH. Normally it was about 50 MPH. It was 30 degrees and the windchill was -20. The power went out at about 8:00 and it wasnt back on when we left at 11 this morning.... What a night....

I hate to say it, but at this point I've had my fill of the Lionel catalogues.  Spent yesterday at the store writing address lables for the out of town buying customers and putting them on Priority Mail envelopes, a bit over 100.  The catalogues were delivered by UPS at 2 pm this afternoon, 25 boxes each.  I spent the rest of the afternoon stuffing them into the envelopes, that is between customers.

Seriously, there are quite a few good looking items and some possible dogs.  I'm a bit in shock on the price increases, seems the name Legacy adds $100 to an engine vs. TMCC.

That is a great idea!!!  A TMCC missile firing car is the next thing that Lionel needs to make.  It couldn't be any more difficult than the TMCC crane car to build.  I could put a North Carolina flag on the blimp for added realism.  Laugh [(-D] As the Chief pilots the blimp over Roger's Corner, boom!!!

Buckeye, it was in some sort of r/c aircraft catalog. It has a large mylar 'balloon' with frame holding the nacelle and engines. About 9 ft. long. It had surprising lift. But there were all sorts of R/F interference issues.

Been there, Brutus. Funny how they sleep deeply through it all.

Hello from Sunny Orlando, where it was hazzy all day but no rain yet.  Wife and kiddos are at Epcot, nearly done, and I just got out of training for the week - yippee!  Need to go check out the Lionel site ASAP - thanks for the headsup Doug!  I'm sure my wife will say thanks as soon as possible Wink [;)]  Sir James and all you other guys, feel like I am neglecting you, but I have to type fast and post - I figured out that if you stay on the same page for more than a few seconds without any actual "activity" this wireless router at the hotel kicks you off?!  So, I just have to type like crazy, hit post, and keep moving!  It's better later at night.  Oh, speaking of which, tried to share a bed with my little boy, Gorgo the Mighty!  Geez!  He was beating me up all night, I think I got about 4 hours of sleep - good 'cause all I had to do today was role play and presentations and peer observer!  I am tiiiiirrrrred. Found out the couch is a sleeper, so will move him or me out there tonight for sure.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening All,

High winds and forcast snow here in Peterborough. Had a intresting 3 day course this week on steam trapping and controls etc. Passed the final exam Smile [:)].

I am trying to catch up on the pot. Like the home cinema setup's guys. FIL and I were going to go half's on a plasma or LCD for the gamesroom. We made the mistake last week of going to a high end Hi-Fi shopWink [;)]. They did a demo of a Infocus IN78 projector. Its a fantastic bit of kit and it really sold us on the idea of a projector rather than a tv. We said no when they told us that it was £1000 just for the projector!

However we managed to find a older IN72 model on ebay that had hardly been used for well under half that price. We also went to a discount Hi-Fi place and got a Sony 5.1 amp and a Tanoy surround speaker set on sale. Just need an electric screen, ceiling bracket to complete when funds allow. Whole set up for less than a good 42" plasma...result!

We tried it out in the dining room, Back To The Future on a 100" pictureCool [8D].

Had a quick look at the Lionel Catalog.

Great to see the GWR livery Hall set. Not sure if I'll go for it as we have the Hogwarts. I'll save up for the Lionmaster Big Boy thoughWink [;)]. Some nice stuff.

Hope everyone is OK

Afternoon!

Just a quick look at the k-line catalogue...Ok...now be honest...Who else besides me will be buying the Clown Chase Cars?  Those look hilarious!

Now I'm confused...$60 for a scale DT&I Coil Car and $25 for a Baldwin motor works O-27 tank car...why the big difference in cost?  Is this supply and demand?

Good monring all,

It is a bit of a mixture on the weather, with rain and snow both in the forecast today.  I got an Alaskan gondola from eBay yesterday and for once my wife did not complain much.  I did weights at the YMCA, and we both watched Lost last night.  I glanced at the new catalogs, and I liked the format change on the train sets by showing them with an appropriate background.  Chief, are you going to get the NS unit train?  It is nice to see some more tinplate, and I hope this leads to a serious re-entry into standard gauge.  I liked the new Alaskan reefer, which will probably wind up on the layout.  I had a little extra on the dining car this moring.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all. Big storm continues here. Slogged through the snow to the office - no one else here. Maybe it's a sign. Dunce [D)] Fife is right: none of the shenanigans mentioned were edifying and they'd get you arrested today or worse. Wink [;)]

I always enjoy perusing the Lionel catalog - I love that Kinlet Hall train - and Brutus gets his John Bull. Not sure I'm thrilled with Iron 'Arry and Bert diesels for the Thomas line.

Buckeye, we've experimented with putting a camera in one of those indoor blimps at our church - which is based in an ex-warehouse with a huge ceiling space.

HI GIZ,

OFF TODAY, YEAH!!!  Ice storm here get to work on layout today.  Going to put down last of ballast.  It is in my coaling operation so 90% will be black.

MITCH, glad to see wife is ok, but man that musta smarted?  Prayers for her.

  JON F. COOL!!!

GIZ, did all that with the bazooka and army stuff, cap guns and all but our big thing was making the snow forts then going and picking a snowball fight against all the 16-18 year old GIZ.  There was a corner store up the street where all these older GIZ hung out for sodas and chips.  Across the street was a big parking lot of a lighting company and when it snowed they piled high about 8 feet the snow.  We'd dig in, tunnels and all, have about a hundred snow balls waiting, intice these GIZ then nail em.  Lasted for about a good 10 minutes then they would overtake us and wash our faces with snow.  Great fun till the face washing.

B GOOD.
