MORNING ALL

Overcast and 30 this morn, should get warm enough to melt some snow today. I tried to help a poster having trouble with a whistle button yesterday evening but he injected a few remarks and then some one butted in and the whole thing got the boot. the writter was wrong to say what he said but the other butinsky had nothing postive to say so he was just as bad as the writer. Anyway I hope I was of some help before I lost him. Not sure about the chuck wagon today with the game and all as long as its not turkey surprise like after thanksgiving. Morning all.  On the way to Wilmington to visit Grandson who has suddenly decided to walk.  Grandma wants to see him.  Later. 

I don't know maybe the wife is planning a trip.  She made a big batch of Beef Stew, Chili, and Pea Soup.  hmmmmm  sure tasted good.  There's enough here for a week!  So come on over. 

OH NO!!!! the winds blow from west to east.  No wonder the air has a foul odor.

Morning to All,

A fresh pot is on with fresh bagels and cream cheese.  Not much happening here today.  We will go to SuperBowl get together with some friends who live near my Mom and Dad.  Dog will go and visit with her grandparents. I'd swear they like her better than us.... She's the first one they ask about when they call.

As if the wife's venture to the ER wasn't bad enought, I took a spill going out to get the paper yesterday AM.  Luckily I was not hurt, landed hard on the driveway, but not aches or pains this AM. 

Put my son's pick up truck out on the road yesterday with a sale sign on it.  I hadn't even been in the house 5 minutes when a guy stoppped.  Later another guy stopped and is going to buy it.  It's a real beater, 1990 Dodge Dakota, not pretty inside or out, but the price was right. Going to go with the guy to the notary to sign it over to him on Tuesday.  Could not find a notary open on a Saturday afternoon.

Timonium show was BIG BIG BIG!  A lot of "tire-kicking" going on, as a lot of vendors I talked to hadn't sold much, which was surprising due to how well attended it was.

It is a cold, sunny 24 degrees. Yes, the sun is out. Going up to 47 today, with some sunshine. That's not bad.

Today, is Super Bowl Sunday. I plan on watching the game. Have a few things to do, and then will run trains this afternoon. This is a good day to relax. Wife is feeling better. She slept good last night.

Looking forward to SPF.

Dining car has arrived and is well stocked. Time for breakfast.

Worked hard today, started with a simple clean up in the backyard from the tree trimming job earlier this week.  Ended up doing a major yard clean up.  Glad its done though !  Tested out the sidewalk for hardness, it's good.  Tried to give a way piece of Ceasar Stone 6' x 38" no  takers.  So out to the trash.  Ran some trains tonight even had so guests over and let them run 'em.  They really seemed to enjoy it.

HI GIZ,

  Ran all my Legacy engine tonight.  The BB, FEF, and NS SD$) all ran great NO PILE UPS, life is good.

  Went to church out to eat the watched THE WIRE on HBO.  Good show about Baltimore area, drugs, gangs, newspaper, the docks, police department.  Pretty good show also watched all the trailers afterwards.  Kudos to HBO.

  STUR-FISH, BIG CONGA on the post count.  Way to go.

Evening all

Just got in from class in Columbus.  You all had me laughing about the distruction of models with fire crackers and the like.  Brought back memories.  I rember doing much of the same.  Like cowboys and indians with BB guns and bows and arrows made from tree branches. 

Going to Cincinnatti tomorow for new nephews baptism.  Attending not presideing, can't do that for another 10 months.  A good story.  BIL and wife marries 10 years and no kids, been trying to adopt for the past 4 years.  Two weeks ago an unwed mom picked BIL & wife to raise her child.  Everyone very happy.  Cute kid.

I hate to say it, but at this point I've had my fill of the Lionel catalogues. 

Any new catalogs coming into this house will need to be carefully hidden from the wife...kinda like when I usta hide my Penthouse collection from dear old mom.

 

Seriously, there are quite a few good looking items and some possible dogs.  I'm a bit in shock on the price increases, seems the name Legacy adds $100 to an engine vs. TMCC.

  One major addition to each Legacy engine is Odyssey II speed control (at least I'm pretty sure this is true).  Seems only select high end TMCC engines came with Odyssey in the past.   This could explain the price increase in Legacy equipped motive power.   Aside from the unique Legacy features I'm sure it must be the added Odyssey cruise that constitutes a big chunk of the $100 increase.

AH, what day is it????  So tired.  Since I got up, ripping up old carpet and pad [the carpet RR carpet is gone], been cleaning room, moving furniture, receiving new furniture, arranging new furniture and reinstalling things.  Long day but did get by Miss Edna's late this afternoon.  Animals fed.  Now time to feed me.  Room across the hall from train room is now in great shape with furniture from master bedroom.  Master bedroom has new furniture.  Shower and "comfey" clothes [wife's words for T-shirt, sweat pants and slippers].  Later.

I have the three Lionel catalogs sitting next to me and I really don't know what to say, the prices stun me and I'm a Lionel fan. I'm sure the MTH will be the same way come York time.

The temp. stayed below 32 today so the snow is still here but there is hope next week for warmer days. The local train store bought some MPC yesterday nothing for me but a Dunkin Donut truck boxed $10.00.

Brutus- the list is getting longer,when R U going home. JB getting them before you. Maybe he sent them to you. if so you get them twice.

JOHN, Yes I too have my sites set on the NJC G3 Pacific.  When WEAVER came out with the G1 and G2 I almost bought that.  But now with Legacy I'm there.

I also really like the 4-6-0 NYC ten wheeler.

Might actually buy one or two of the above.

Didn't get a chance to really check out the K-line catalog.

And a happy Groundhog day to all.

Technical Help Needed...I have a great colleciton of railroad and model railroad VHS tapes.  Is there a machine I can buy to transfer the tapes to DVD?  Is there a better way?

I have this unit, and it has worked OK.  What is required is the VCR, then this box, which connects via USB to the computer.  Of course there neds to be a burner in the computer.  The only difficulty I have experienced is difficulty in creating "Chapters" that you can select once the DVD is made.  I use printable DVD's which run about .25 and then print directly to the DVD once it is copied. (I did not buy any extra software, some came with the unit.)

I have a little project I am currently working on, as a matter of fact.  And this unit works pretty good.  I can also use as a source my camcorder as a source, and put those tapes on DVD. 

Also, you may want to do a google on "VHS to DVD" more items come up.

Oh Yeah, it seems to me I've seen at the big box stores, a VHS/DVD combo unit that also copies VHS to DVD on the burner in the combo.  Seemed a little pricey, though.
