CSXest - congrats on the wieght - sorry about the cold. The virus I came done with in January that felt like a cold held on until just last week. I am still coughing.

Well - thought ol' #20 was gonna pull one off there at the end - but I am kinda glad he didn't - otherwise a Toyota would have won the Daytona - I'm just not ready for that. Wink [;)]

Evening all. An exciting race! At least Junior finished in the top 10. Finished up all my trackwork before the bride got home at 0230 am after a near-death-experience with black ice. They were all shaken but unhurt. Then slogged through the sleet to church with 3 hrs. sleep to serve as vid director. Chipped away more ice this afternoon too. The middle boy gets back from Michigan in half-an-hour too. Hope he had a nice trip. And hopefully we go back to 'normal' for the week. The layout looks great! I also put lanterns on everything. Have to find a camera for pics to share.

Brutus, how about some movie trivia? Or some 'remember-when' questions. Hope Chewey is better.

Laz, when I read through the Legacy manual I believe I came across something that indicated you can initiate a frequency search, hand held to base, there are several, with the push of one of the buttons.  Is it possible you might have accidentally pushed whichever button that is?

In reality the Chief found out what the $'s/min charges are to use the shipboard computers.  I don't remember the exact cost but I believe it was over $1/min from the second you signed on.  And with the satellite the speeds could be slow.

Wow - that would keep me offline!

Yes the online services on cruise ships tend to be expensive and I can confim they can be very slow Sat links. Plus why would the Chief want to be stuck below decks at a keyboard when he can be up top with his dark shades onPirate [oX)]and a cold bottle of sudsWink [;)].

Oh I like Nascar, its on Sky over here. Usually highlight shows. Don't get the chance to see much as its on late.

Later

Afternoon!

Are they ever going to run this race???

Brutus:  How about some Star Wars and Star Trek Questions???  Like describing a Tribble.  I have O31, and small amount of Fastrack...With all our combined track we should be able to get thru the entire house....maybe a quick stop at the Chief's to pick-up the Legacy and a couple of power bricks!  We'll have everything back in place by the time all that Cruise food wears off.

HI GIZ,

Well ran trains last nite after watching HBO movie Nite at the Museum withBEN STILLER.  Good movie kinda makes you wonder what happens on our layouts when we are a sleep?   Anyway a diarama scene looked like o scale of the old west and the railroad.  They tie down BEN and try and run him over with a Gneral steamer.  Of course it bounces off his head.

Good morning race fans!

Partly cloudy here and 50's today. Might hit 70's by mid-week.

Spent most of last night and this morning upgrading to Norton Internet Security 2008 on 3 PCs here. Just 3 more to go. Was able to buy two of the "protect 3 PCs for the price of 1" packs. Tech said there was a 5 PC pack but neither he nor I could find it. I think he was confused about the corporate package vs the home Angry [:(!]

Don - I do not think it is safe for you to be wiring your light switches or your hutch to your layout with doorbell wire...Wink [;)]

Nick - sounds like excellent progress on the train/game room. That should be a good screen for watching NASCAR. I am sure you enjoy NASCAR if you enjoy toy trains as they both go round in circles!

Actually got our daughter and son to join us for Mexican food dinner out last night. First time we have done that in a while...the missus was very happy.

Have a great afternoon all!

Wow - that would keep me offline!  Jack, I'm taking the kids to visit my Mom in a couple hours.  We'll pick up something they can heat up for dinner, too, so that they don't have to eat takeout food tonight.  Something my Dad can handle.  Then the boy wants to go to Gamestop and spend some birthday $$$ and then I have another Father/Daughter dance including a dinner for girlscouts fundraiser.  Luckily I have tomorrow off, so then I can put up some more insulation - finally getting 'er done.

I need to find some Icebreakers/Brain Teasers for the trainees and print them out before work on Tuesday too.  I talked to some of the DRO's (higher paid version of my job that work with appealed cases) and they will be doing some of the non-computer training for me, just have to get with my sister and make a lesson plan and get them all prepped and stuff.  So, that will take a big chunk out of the extra work I had coming, thank God.  One person could do all of this, but it would be a full-time job and take a lot longer!

Did run trains for a little while with the FiL last night and had some fun.  He liked that old timer trainset.  Also, screws are staying put on Buford (BFOC) with plenty of lube to keep down friction.  I hate to say this, but I never lubed those drivers before -- took a hint from something someone wrote on another thread somewhere and seems to be working now!  You guys are the best, as usual!

Might visit later tonight, Sir J and Kurt.  K - I've got O27, O31, gg or Fasttrack I can bring, so name your poison!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Mornin' Fellas.

Dinner last night was very good. Had dinner at Mrs. K's Tollhouse in Silver Springs, MD (Susan's favorite place) as they just finished remodeling their basement into a wine cellar where you can also dine. Very nicely done. Now have some ideas for how to redo the unfinished basement into a bar/wine tasting area. (Also where the Napa Valley Wine Train will run on a suspended track).

Busy yesterday and today working on the layout. Seems Left-Hand Larry's been at it again. He was assigned to switch building and he built an O-45 left hand and O-54 left hand switch. Problem was he was supposed to build an O-45 RIGHT hand switch. Banged Head [banghead] So much for the ADA, guess he'll be given one more shot to get this right, then its back to running the tie-ejector!

Chuck - good one! I forgot Don had scavenged an extension cord from behind the couch! Wink [;)]

Speaking of Don... anyone else notice he hasn't posted since the doorbell wire post. Hope he hasn't shocked himself! Shock [:O]

Morning all,

In the 40's and wet in Southern Ohio.

Spent yesterday in class, then went to Lancaster to the Smoke Stack Train shop.  Thanks for the lead Buckeye.  They did have some old American Flyer and I picked up a 645A working caboose, and the new Lionel catalogs.  Oh my, tempting but I will maintain my focus on American Flyer.

Take care and may God bless

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a warmer 40 degrees. Snow is melting. Going up to 56 today, with rain. Now, it will get soggy.

Today, is an easy day. Plan on taking it easy and watching the race. Good day to stay inside. Maybe, I will run trains for awhile. I have a TV in the train room, so I can do both.

Daytona 500 today. I am hoping Junior wins. He's driving # 88.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Jim/Brutus, funny you should post.  Was thinking that, based on what you've said about your Mom, about now she's getting a little more mobile (pain), is taking a pass on the pain meds, and has self-prescribed biting on 9mm slugs instead.  Let the Doc do the heavy lifting (giving her advice)......."What, Mom, are you a surgeon now?  Just do what she/he says."

If you've got a Dremel tool, try shortening and smoothing out those dew claw nails on Chewey.  We had a similar problem with a mutt some years back, and she finally moved on to some other obsession.  Another thing that sometimes works is getting the dog obsessed with chewing something else that belongs to them.  That's the standard approach to getting puppies to progress from chewing your stuff to chewing the right things.  Try one of those rubber Kongs and put peanut butter and kibble inside.  The dog will work at that so long that the jaw gets tired and they take a nap, then resume when they wake up.

Chuck, I wonder if Jr. had dinner with his stepmother last night to get him psyched up for today's Daytona 500.  In October I visited my 86 year old Nascar fanatical father-in-law in Chicago whose tv was crapping out and talked him into finally buying that 32" HD Samsung he'd been pining for.  We picked it up, removed the old Sony (oh, my hernia), and set it up.  After I left, he went out and bought new surround speakers (Klipsch....sp?) and set those up too.  He's probably up right now waiting for the race to start.

Worked some OT this morning, then to a birthday party for my friends' 2 year old miracle baby (thank God) and had a good visit with Dave and John (brothers and 2 of my best friends).  Then picked up BBQ dinner to share with in-laws.  Chicken nachos are talking back to me, though Dunce [D)]  Too many jalapenos, I  guess.  Will enjoy sleeping in tomorrow!

Chewy keeps biting her dew claws, if she keeps up splintering them we will have to get the removed - ouch!  Poor little puppy!

No word yet from Chief?  That's cause for concern.  He must have thought the WD40 he packed had sun screen in it and is in the ship's infirmary with a bad case of sunburn.

Bride's made it to Galena - two hours away - have to work fast . Funny how trackwork goes better with just playing with it - I actually thought of a better way to untwist some track whilst keeping some variety. James and Percy will be happy. Sir Hatt should be pleased.

Just stopped in to say Hello.  No train activity for the last couple of days.  Greenhouse is keeping me busy right now.  Is it me, or is it quiet when the Chief's away?

I like that K-line site, should help me complete my inventory.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
