Had a root canal this morning, broke a tooth this past TuesdayDisapprove [V], and temp. cap put on.  The tenderness is setting in.  Looks like chocolate pudding for supper.Big Smile [:D]

Started working on roadbed for a loop under the messa and coming out for about 3' under the trestle.  I'll be using a K-Line porter with a few ore cars on this loop.  Got some old GG track that was laying around the store, looks kind of rough but the bits of rust on the center rail came off easy.  The price was right and I don't care what it look like for this loop.

When calculating costs it might be economical to do the 40 miles in tubular.  On the other hand the added maintainance of rusty rail might make nickel/silver a wiser initial choise.  Don't forget to factor in a transformer every 1/16th of a mile or so.  Should be fun phasing 640, 1033's together!  Workbenches should be provided every 4 miles along the line for necessary lubing of all motive power and rolling stock.  Smoke units should be turned off since keeping them replenished to avoid burnout would be impractical.  Short of that, should be a piece of cake! Hey Roy! We can do that! Thumbs Up [tup] Plus add some flashing lights and stuff, maybe some sound too... have to find someone who is good with electronics to get it all working... Wink [;)]

Morning all. Great idea, Brent. I am honored. I love naming things on the layout. Railroads name or number everything. I would run the 4-4-0 with anything behind it. Your movie viewers won't know. Roy, sorry about the laptop. I wish we could hold some of the cos. behind these apps accountable. Brutus, that eclipse sure was cool. Looks like you'll have to try the recipes.

Brent,

I like your ideas for attractions on your layout!

Spent yesterday and today home with Jack.  He's pretty sick.  Has a little bit of ear infection, and possibly bronchiolitis.  He's pretty fussy most of the time.  Not eating or drinking much.  Killer cough.  Tough time breathing.  He's on medication now, and I think it's getting better.

Spent an hour and a half with Time Warner yesterday, trying to get a couple of dissapearing HD channels to come back.  We redid the drop to the house, cleaned up some on the in house distribution, and still no good.  I asked him if he could actually meter the signal, and he finally did. Looks like it's in the box in our yard.  Either the tap, or the underground plant cable, which would be bad.

My internet should become a little more stable as well.

Mornin' Fellas.

Got 1 inch of snow last night... not even worth breaking out a shovel to clean the driveway so just used a push broom, done in 10 minutes. Thumbs Up [tup] Tonight through Saturday we get Ice, Freezing Rain, Snow, Sleet, and whatever other wintery precip they can throw at us! Angry [:(!]Disapprove [V] So it looks like I won't be at work tomorrow... snow is one thing... ice is a whole different beast! That should give me plenty of time to get the bedroom sanded, walls primed, and still have time to wire up some of the layout! Not sure I want to stop and pickup ceiling tiles again tonight, but I need 3 to tile the second level and that's only about $10.00 at Home Despot... so we'll see.

Was asked yesterday if I have trains... LOL! Laugh [(-D] 'Nope'. Seems the people I work with want to shoot another silent movie (they did one last year and it went over really well for advertising the Information Center) and this time they want to do a 'Damsel in Distress' movie - where the damsel gets tied up on the rails and someone saves her and they need to take some macro shots of trains... so my question would be which one of the following would you use:

4-4-0 General
681
Berkshire
Mikado
Yellowbelly Hudson
Allegheny

I don't have many 4-4-0 era freight cars, so I was leaning toward the 681 with the PW 2400 passenger cars...

Well. I'm glad to see that the sun has risen.  I couldn't find a live chicken to sacrifice to appease the moon last night. Boogah-boogaaah.  Sunny & 19 here in the Mid-Atlantic region, with white death forcasted after 2100 hours.

cheapclassics - good going with the train "bug".  I do look forward to having a grand-engineer or two in the future.

88 - I always liked the sound of "Bruceton Mills" (for some unknown reason), which actually exists in Preston Co,WV (just west of Oakland,MD).  I'm honored just the same.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold and clear 4 degrees. That's cold. Going up to 31 today with the chance of sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have some errands to run and places to go. No time for trains again. Tomorrow will be train day.  I need to get to a hobby store and buy some scenery items. Trees and bushes. Making several small hills and valleys.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Morning all [wait, I said that earlier this AM].  Up early after being up late.  Woke up with a headache and one nostril running.  Here we go again.  Several at Town Hall sick.  One went home at lunch to stay.  Sick, don't come to work and spread it.  Had planned on sleeping later than Jack as he was up after I went to bed. Wink [;)]  Maybe a big bowl of GRITS will work.  Then I can doze in the recliner for a while.  Got to get out and prune grape vines and then finish removing baskets in garden.  All have a great day.  Later

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes from coast to coast!!! Wow!!!

Roy...I assume you are using a Southern Computer and nothing can understand those types of systems.  Wink [;)]  BTW, I might be heading to Dallas, TX sometime this spring.

Kurt...Thanks for the info.  We have several places under consideration; Cedarville, MI, Curtis, MI, Drummed Island, MI, Burt Lake, and Hubbard Lake.  I like Drummed Island because it looks like a fun place to boat and fish.

Chief....What did you send me for my birthday?  I am still awaiting those engines you promised me from last year, and the year before, and the year before that, and the year before that, too.

Does anyone remember what happened today in 1962 ???  Confused [%-)]

Hi Brutus  where is Chewy and what did she do to the moon? I can't say this lady is a friend but she is /was in my wifes sunday school class. And the cause is due to the hospital not having a sterile facilty. and again I say many a lawsuit is unwarranted but this teeters  on negligence.

please tell Chewy to put the moon back. bed time is closing in.   S.J.

Good luck on the hiring Mitch!  Good luck on the house, Wes!  Prayers for your friend, Sir J - that's a real shame.  Prayers for all of those with colds or illness and their loved ones too.  Doug - I just picked up a new book on ebay, the William Ashbless Memorial Cookbook.  It's not train related, but the guys who wrote it would fit in well here on the 'pot.  Wm is a made-up character, part con-man and part minor poet or sci fi writer.  Can't wait for it to show up.   88, you sure have made a lot of progress!  Don, keep at it, persevere!  Chuck, I paid 2.78 at the pump tonight.  I wish it was .78 though!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
