HI GIZ,

NO SCHOOL TODAY cause of the weather.  3-6 inches then freezing rain?  Got driveway done and neighbor ladies too.  Don't know about ALLENTOWN TRAIN MEET tomorrow maybe will have to go on Sunday?

KURT love the idea of the wood shop and saloon all in one.  Sounds like it needs a sign stating," have fingers will drink?"

DOUG, OLD MIL and scholars kinda go together?  Cause as YOU KNOW, "It don't get any better then this".  YES 800 lb. BRUIN is there at combines, seeing if he can find some fresh GREEN BAY PACKERS?

MITCH, too bad all kids should get the opportunity to run power tools.  BIG POWER TOOLS.

BRENT might have to have a section for BUCKEYE OUTDOOR ADVENTURES?  CANADIAN LAKES, HOCKEY RINKS, OUTDOOR STILLS, and games like CURLING to watch and drink beer outdoors?

NEED to have a contest to name my 800 lb. BEAR.  I just call him laz's 800 lb BEAR?

  Running trains later.

  B GOOD or B GONE,

laz57

Morning all

Kind of nasty out in Southern Ohio.  Then snow turned to sleet and iced the roads.  The same is predicted for tonight.  I am off today and will do homework, work in the garage some and try and run trains.

The Trainarama should be delivered soon.  I am anxious to see if I can work it into the layout.  I'm thinking I'll need to remove the handcar track in the back.  It was a straight line back and forth run, but I'd miss it.  Or, add a 6" shelf on the rear of the existing layout.

I think the truck starting issue is solved.  Started the truck for the first time in a week yesterday and it fired right up.  I may get one of the battery tenders that Chief was talking about.

Everyone be careful out there, it is slick.

May God bless

Jim

Morning all. Brutus, No ice here for once. Must've gone directly east to Long Island and Baltimore. Sounds like a nice evening though. Glad I got the unlimited text plan - let's see, in the about 21 hours since its turned on, the three (bride and two teens) have managed to send 320 messages. Ridiculous.

Laz, I thought the 800 lb. Bear was at the NFL Combine in Indy this weekend?  Mike C should be wary if the Bear decides to roam out of town.

Good morning

A couple of short comments,1-no quake just a BB hitting the floor, 2- how about Bakers Bakery.

Thats it just some thoughts that rattled around. We got about one inch of snow from that mess heading east. I think its about 25 right now, and going to stay in that area today. sun is up though, maybe I can just let the snow melt. Enjoy your friday and I shall return later...S.J.

Well we actually have SNOW here on the East End of Long Island !!

and true to form it was predicted to be a dusting with a quick change to rain, but now we are supposed to get anywhere from 6 to 8 inches.

My company is on a delayed opening, BUT since I work from home I will be getting all the calls for the first 2 hours, but I was told to then sign off 2 hours early this afternoon.

Translation, 2 hours this afternoon for trains!!!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a snowy 34 degrees. We got about 4 inches of new snow last night. Now, it is a misty rain. Going up to 36 today.

Today is another busy day. I have to go out later and run a few errands. I think I will wait until they get the roads cleaned off. Our one snow truck takes a while. Maybe I'll run trains later this afternoon. Need to relax.

Dining car has arrived and is ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Mornin' Fellas.

Well didn't get anything done on the layout last night as the weather idiots were predicting ICE today so Susieq and I headed to the grociserie store for some supplies (we're having family over tomorrow for her father's b-day). Wake up this morning... 1 inch of snow.... what a let down.

OH!!!! I forgot to tell you guys... FiL's PSA count (prostate cancer) is down to .85 from 15! Means the radiation seeds have killed the cancer! Thumbs Up [tup]

Not much else going on... still have to sand the walls in the spare room, then prime and paint. Still waiting on my two switches so I can get the second level reverse loop completed. Also have to wire the outter mainline on the first level. Then order wire for the switches. After the wire arrives I can start building the command center.

Guess its time for the Night Shift to chime in........

Brent... I am really honored with your suggestion, (not to mention the fact you even remembered that little incident).  Maybe for the sake of brevity, you might consider instead of "Don Baker's Toy Shop and Antique Furniture", Baker's  Furniture Follies

Sounds like lots a people are really making progress on the layouts.  Tis the Season!  STILL working on my wiring, got 2 AIU's wired to terminal strips tonight.  Represents over 30 wires ran and labeled.  Also got initial path and hardware done for individual switch wiring.  As a matter of fact I get tomorrow off to work on it.  YEAH !!!

Now I have one for you, when you speak of dedication and train addiction.  Went to our club layout last night, and there was hardly anyone there.  One other person running trains.  He has the BB and Legacy, and was having problems.  I checked the wiring and noone had moved the ground wire from the TMCC to Legacy, so there were conflicting signals.  Anyway, he was running the BB in TMCC and some of the Legacy features weren't working.  I asked if he runs it at home, and does it respond.  He said he only has a 5' straight section of track that he runs at home.  Not the BB is 32" long, and only runs on a 5' section!!  This same guy has some really beautiful trains!  He spends a LOT of time, weathering the cars, and making unique military trains.  It is very obvious he really enjoys HIS aspect of the hobby, but I would certainly try to adjust some priorities, for some operating capability.

The weather certainly looks wet for this week-end.  Raining now, and suppose to continue until sometime Sunday.  Saturday is going to be the worst, expecting 3 to 5 inches, the Sierras are suppose to get between 3 and 5 FEET of snow!!  May certainly cause havoc with NASCAR this weekend.  You guys may really be in for a lot of bad weather next week!  This storm is covering the entire west coast, and there is another big tropical storm right behind it.

Doug - Are you sure those are earthquakes, or is possibly it mudslides??

Hope everyone has a great day!  Latter........

Evenin' All.

Waitin' for a couple of deliveries, more than likely not til late next week. Bought a nice lot of k-line tanks, the old style not the uni-bodies, with the die-cast chassis. These are just heavy enuff to not have the de-railing issues with some of the run-thru switches. The other is a nice steamer, really looking forward to this one.

Don, Hope you have your quake insurance insurance up to date, between all the recent activity on the southern end of the San Andreas and that fairly sizable one in Nevada kinda makes ya wonder. Shock [:O]

Just sitting around all night with the family.  Son got a computer game that is just one brain teaser after another and we're trying to help him through them - pretty tough ones too!  Daughter is reading Anne of Green Gables.  Wife is watching Tammy and the Bachelor - pretty corny!  Watched a couple movies on the laptop too (Dark Water and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle -- picked them up used and buy 1/get 1 free sale, so they were really cheap.  A couple good laughs in Kumar and DW was VERY scary!).  Will get up early to find out if work is open tomorrow as we are due for more freezing rain tonight and snow too.  I was really surprised they closed the building today though!  Have to watch the weather in a few minutes before I reclinerize.  Got an idea for Dennis' layout maybe - need to do some research on Rockler and Woodcraft sites.  Doug, hope nobody else is getting all this freezing rain!  TTFN

Well I'm off to install a towel hook for you-know-who, then on to bed... see ya in the Mornin'.

Now that IS smooth, naming points of interest on the lionroar 88 RR after Susieq.  That way she has a vested interest in your construction success.

2 AM:   " Brent, get your butt back to the train room and get those wiring blocks completed!  I won't have my friends looking at anything less than perfection when it has my name on it.  Who cares what the switches cost?  Don't cut any corners."

If you also change the name of the RR, who knows how much latitude you'll get?

Go for it.

Jack

Jack,
The name of the RR is 'The Susieq Falls Scenic Railroad'. Big Smile [:D] Fife designed it so he gets a mountain named after him because this is such a large project. Some others will find their names popping up here and there. Thought about 'Buckeye Swamp' but couldn't find any place to put it. (It would be in honor of his famous trip to Alabama) I'm thinking 'Doug Murphy's School for the Gifted' will find its way onto the layout as well, just have to find a figure of a boy pushing on the door with the word 'Pull' on it (kinda like the Far Side cartoon). Then there will be Brutus' Dog Training, Chief's Greenhouse (of course everything inside will be dead and all the grounds outside will be overrun with deer, I'm also thinking Wesleyville for one of the mountain depots, Don Baker's Electric Supply and Antque Furniture, Fullerton Depot may be the other mountain depot as well. Down in the valley I was thinking Chuck's Blueberry Stand would look pretty neat. I have a Krazy Ken's car dealer that will probably be renamed Krazy Jim's Used Cars and Auto Detailing. In town there will be a number of businesses named in horror honor of family members. Oh and the coal mine... well when there is a coal mine there is a coal town, when there is a coal town there are coal miners, where there are coal miners there are certain establishments... I'm thinking Laz's Saloon has a certain ring to it...

----
Mornin' Fellas.

Got 1 inch of snow last night... not even worth breaking out a shovel to clean the driveway so just used a push broom, done in 10 minutes. Thumbs Up [tup] Tonight through Saturday we get Ice, Freezing Rain, Snow, Sleet, and whatever other wintery precip they can throw at us! Angry [:(!]Disapprove [V] So it looks like I won't be at work tomorrow... snow is one thing... ice is a whole different beast! That should give me plenty of time to get the bedroom sanded, walls primed, and still have time to wire up some of the layout! Not sure I want to stop and pickup ceiling tiles again tonight, but I need 3 to tile the second level and that's only about $10.00 at Home Despot... so we'll see.

Was asked yesterday if I have trains... LOL! Laugh [(-D] 'Nope'. Seems the people I work with want to shoot another silent movie (they did one last year and it went over really well for advertising the Information Center) and this time they want to do a 'Damsel in Distress' movie - where the damsel gets tied up on the rails and someone saves her and they need to take some macro shots of trains... so my question would be which one of the following would you use:

4-4-0 General
681
Berkshire
Mikado
Yellowbelly Hudson
Allegheny

I don't have many 4-4-0 era freight cars, so I was leaning toward the 681 with the PW 2400 passenger cars...

BRENT, laz's SALOON, Thumbs Up [tup] Or maybe laz's ELBOW ROOM.  Where we only sell OLD MILWAUKEE, cause as the story goes it don't get no better then this.

Jack, There is a shop in the UK where you can get all kinds of cool stuff in "O" gauge, some ordinary some pretty raunchy that would be very fitting for a house of ill repute. Some of which were animated. Wish I could remember it's name. Blush [:I]

Now as far as a pc repair shop, that would be a no brainer. Lots of short circuit sounds, smoke and lots of bleep sounds. Of course that could also double as the toy train repair shop. Big Smile [:D]

Just caught up reading - hey, Brent, that is way cool, thanks a lot!  I appreciate it, man!

They closed our building and sent us home as another wave of freezing rain is coming today, so I got home about 1 or so I guess?  I hung around for a while and scraped off windows for some of the ladies at work - until my scraper broke!!!  Took a while to read my emails - got one back from my trainer in Orlando, who got a kick out of some stuff I did in class the other day.  Good to know I'm doing some of this right at least.  That "cookbook" already showed up today!?  I'll be back in a while, so ttfn!

Everyone,

While Brent forgot to mention it, the cost of getting your name on some aspect of his layout is $100.  Must fund the layout construction.  Fee renewable annually.  He still has an opening for anyone who wants their name on his house of ill repute, though I don't know where he will get the action figures for that.
