Another CAT problem just south of PHL evidently all 4 tracks.  The ol PRR CAT system takes out all 4 tracks too easily.  Happened Thursday about 2000.  Worse still evidently wires down started a fire that required fire department to put out fire shutting down fall tracks for a while.

Service Alert update: Catenary power has been restored on 3 of the 4 tracks between Philadelphia (PHL) and Wilmington (WIL). Trains now have the signal to resume travel. We will update as more information becomes available.

Service Alert: Rail travel between Wilmington and Philadelphia is currently on hold due to fire department activity in the area. Train 175 is holding in Philadelphia (PHL) and Train 186 is holding in Wilmington (WIL). We will update as more information becomes available.

Major delays on Keystone route due to tree doing damage to CAT and transmission lines Thursday afternoon.  Another case of tree removal stopped by nimbys ?

https://twitter.com/AmtrakNECAlerts

While NIMBY's may be part of the problem - remember that saplings that weren't even a thought, growing on private property in the 1930's when electrification was installed have now become full grown trees in the ensuing 85 years - trees that have had their purchase on the land weakend with the near record rain faill that has happend in the mid-Atlantic states this year.  Full grown trees near the edge of the property line can easily fall into transmission and catenary lines.

MARC Penn line taking delays today due to heat orders. Unknown how much is track related and how much CAT related due to CAT sagging due to high heat.

According to this MARC bulletin the B&P tunnel is closed. If this is a continuation of yesterday's closing or a separate item is unknown to us.

Localized severe weather - again.  Moms Nature is not liking the Mid-Atlantic area for the Labor Day Weekend.

This year - I seem to feel we have had MORE localized and MORE severe weather and other atmospheric events than I remember from past years.

B&P tunnel must be very leaky. Temporary shutdown.

A series of T'Storms moved through Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County in Maryland - Rain amounts varied in specifc locations between 2.1 and 6.5 inches in nominally a 2 hour period.  National Weather Service had Flood Warnings in effect.

Emergency work on B&P tunnel.  Wonder if it is due to all the previous rain ?

Last rain in the area was Tuesday - if water is the issue, look at a Baltimore City broken water main.

I could very well be a track issue found by a Track Inspector.

So here is another delay today due to heat.  Probably because of both possible rail problems and CAT sag of th variable tension CAT ?
