Larry and Willy, they just announced a few minutes ago, that we are under a Tornado Watch until 11 p.m. EDT tonight.  So, I'm glad I went ahead and fired up the grill, and did the put the pork chops on at 3 p.m.  Everything is now ready, and on the warmer bar, and we have the usual grill-out side dishes:  corn on the cob, baked beans, green beans, and all the cold things, like potato salad, and deviled eggs, cole slaw, etc.  So everyone come and grab a plate, and fill it as high you like.

Joe and Lance, there are plates made up for you two to take to work tonight.  They're in the fridge, with your names on them.

Everyone take care, batten down the hatches if you need to, and stay safe and sound tonight!

Looks like Louisville is right on the edge of the watch. Hopefully everything will be ok for CW and Mutt.

I have a day off from school tomorrow, so hopefully I can get out and see some trains. The weather is actually going to be nice with a high of 70 degrees and plenty of sun. Then the heat really gets cranking and we could be in the mid 80s by Sunday and Monday. This crazy Nebraska weather...

CW - Looks like you're just outside the tornado watch area.  If things continue to track they way they are, and sundown doesn't cool things down, we may be looking at some heavy weather overnight.

Whatever is for supper, I'll take some.

Here!  Saw two more BNSF units today.  One was a green and white 'Executive' EMD, other was orange/green.  Same consist had one NS and one CSX in it.  15 minutes later there was two UP's and a CP.  All I need now is some KCS!  EEK!  Too many letters....

Mookie - thanks for taking attendance!  It's nice to know who is actually here!!  Not a whole lot of the gang, is it?!?!  Sad [:(]  Guess everybody's out enjoying the sunshine, before the next round of rains start.

So lunch today will be all kinds of sandwiches, which I've made up, and have in the large cooler (not the one for salads and desserts).  I've also put all kinds of chips on the counter, and you all can fix your plates, and maybe go out on the patio to eat lunch, enjoy the garden, and see the trains rolling by.

If the rain holds off, I'll grill pork chops for supper tonight, using Brian's recipe.  If it starts raining, though, maybe I'll fix some beef stew and cornbread.

PS - Dan - we have seen a lot of MT coal trains headed east with 2 engines on front and 2 on rear.  I keep thinking that with the new engines coming on board and with spring (altho I am not sure what weather has to do with it for sure) that BNSF is moving power around the system.  Just seems to be a lot of engines moving through here all at once.

Wow - busy morning already.  I come in an hour before work starts, peruse the forum, check e-mail, yada yada....took a real 30 min nap!!!!  Then I have to go back, re-peruse the forum, recheck e-mail, re-yada yada.....

Rain - we ended up with 2+ inches of pretty steady rain.  Soaked in really well, so not much run-off.  Had 6+ here in state and it is all headed east - so you should be able to wring out a little more from the system.

Randy - that's too bad about the possible job problems.  Maybe they will decide you are too valuable to let go or maybe they will turn something around before the end of May.  We will all keep our fingers x'd.

Farming has to be tough today - especially if you are a one-owner.  But Dad's usually know best.

CW - I got my coffee.  Maybe an english muffin to go with it?  May need a whole pot of coffee at this rate.

Heard from Colonel Sanders escapee - I think he is enjoying a short vacation in the DC area.

Also heard from the Man of the Hour - He was picked for some reason other than harassment, since he hasn't bothered Brooklyn.  The trolls seem to start out reasonable and then deteriorate.......

I will go post at the door and take attendence for today's gathering - let's see - CW and Joe......

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  We're getting very light rain at the present.  Supposed to get some heavy  stuff later on, not sure exactly what time, though.

Coffee is on, fresh juice is made, and I've got hot water ready for tea and cider.

Regular breakfast items are ready and on the warmer bar.

I've been up for about two hours, but still don't seem to be awake yet.Sleepy [|)]  Feel like I could go back sleep.  Maybe I'll do that in a bit.

CW good eats again.  Anyone know if the BNSF is missing some newer engines?  I think I found them!  There was four of them travelling light northbound on the CN mainline in Oshkosh about 25 minutes ago.  Yesterday I saw two light going in the same direction, but nothing's come back.  Wonder why...

Randy has disappeared..........

Not disappeared, just busy dealing with personal and professional problems the past few weeks.  Got word last week of our company planning to lay off some of us, but I managed to survive the first round.  Will know about the second round sometime after Memorial Day.

The other news is that after 30 years of farming, my dad has decided to quit due to personal reasons.  The news hit my mom especially hard, but she seems to be doing alright.  Not sure what he's going to do, but after talking to him last weekend, sounds like he's feeling better already.

Had about three quarters of an inch of rain since yesterday afternoon, with more due tonight and tomorrow.  Supposed to be dry and seventy for the weekend.  Will take some lunch and a corner booth to relax in before work......

Yeah, BTD was inquiring about those tin shoes, but given the current "atmosphere" in the Diner lately, I declined to loan them out, and have since modified them to give them nice thick insulated rubber soles... Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

There's an awesome picture that National Geographic had in one of their issues a few years back that captured a lightning bolt striking close to a house- the bolt could be seen snaking its way THROUGH the branches of a huge tree without hitting them and striking a steel fence post, IIRC, near the base of the tree.Shock [:O]
