60 minute tanks should be the standard at every department that has to fight fire in buildings over two stories.

This guys training, and his skill at applying it, saved his life, and let him use his radio to lead his crew to him...lots of nerve and pure guts on his part, and his crew was not giving up either.

We lost a Captain two years ago, because he got "lost" in a high rise looking for one of his men, and he had only a 30 minute tank.

Cause of this one yet to be determined, but the 25 mph winds didn't help matters any.

More on the fire in Houston - a fire captain was rescued in a very dramatic operation lasting upwards of 20 minutes or more as he ran out of air but still managed to lead rescuers to himself.  Two other firefighters were also rescued during the operation.  Unfortunately, two occupants of the building did not survive.

No problem Brian, Actually the only piece of clothing I am wearing is shorts (as usuall). Athough for the first time in recent memory I actually contemplated putting on a sweater last night (actually about 4am when I got done workng a late night shift). As far as the catnip goes....I don't think I am on Mookie's radar like you are, so as long as you are around to draw fire I should be alright. Besides, if we do have to bolt, I think I can outrun you with  you wearing those tin shoes and allWink [;)].

Ah, but that's the point- we WANT her to pounce.  My tin shoes are back in the closet.  She's been in hiding since Bergie snipped at her the other day in the bi-weekly photo contest thread.

When the Mookster is in, she's in pretty early.  We'll have to see what the morning brings.

Good Friday morning, to all!  Joe, thanks for making the coffee and juice, and the rolls.  That really hits the spot this morning.  Glad you've been enjoying your vacation this week.  Bet you're not looking forward to going back to work next week.

Everyone have a great morning, and I'll be back in awhile to start our FRIDAY FISH FRY.

I've got everything ready and on the warmer bar for our FRIDAY FISH FRY:

The menu of fish today is:  cod, flounder, halibut, perch and shrimp.  There's also plenty of fries and hushpuppies (not the shoes, either).  In the cooler, you will find:  cole slaw garden tossed salads, and the following desserts:  pecan pie, peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler.  There is also plenty of chocolate cake, and ice cream is in the freezer.

Everyone have a great afternoon!!Thumbs Up [tup]Big Smile [:D]

Thanks for the fish CW.  I'll take some perch and fries.  The patio sounds good for lunch today.  Hope there's some trains running!  Anyone hear from Ms. Mook?

I'll take seconds on the perch and fries since nobody else wants any, apparently.  Good stuff!  Glad to see Ms. Moo back on the other thread!

Well, Brian, you're in luck, since all the fish is fry is breaded.  Speaking of which, the next round of our FRIDAY FISH FRY is now under way.  So grab yourself a plate or two, and head on out to the patio.  Going to be a beatiful night, before the rain comes in, probably around 9 p.m. around our area.

Glad to know that the Mookster will be back with us on Monday morning!!

Has anybody seen Ray in the past few days:  other than on the "Today in Railroad History" thread?!?!  I know I haven't seen him here in the DD/CS.

I'll take thirds on the perch and fries CW.  The patio is so comfortable and the camaraderie is great here!  Plus the trains are fun...so keep the plates coming!

Good Saturday morning, all.  Coffee is ready, and fresh juice is made.  On the warmer bar, you will find:  your choice of turkey bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, oatmeal, old fashioned grits, toast; or, you can partake of the variety of doughnuts, muffins and danish.

Did laundry for the diner last night, so all the aprons and tablecloths are washed and ironed, looking their very best.

Since tomorrow is Palm Sunday, does anyone have any special requests for Sunday Dinner tomorrow?  If so, please let me know, okay?

We're supposed to have rain off and on this morning, then more  possibly heavy rain coming in sometime this evening.

Everyone have a good day; and Brian, guess you should get your tin boots all spiffed up, and ready for Mookie's return Monday!!Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]

Good Afternoon!

We had some severe thunderstorms here earlier this afternoon. They didn't last very long, but there was marble size hail and brief but very heavy rain at my house. There was also an abundance of cloud-to-ground lightning, so it wasn't too bad of a storm, all in all. Mookie always says that the storms miss Lincoln and pound Omaha and she was right again since Lincoln didn't get anything.

I can't believe that Easter is only one week away. I have school Monday through Wednesday this upcoming week and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off. I remember back in grade school when Easter vacation would be 10 days long, but I guess high schoolers don't get that special treatment.

Anyway, that's all the news I have today. Hopefully everyone will stay safe with the storms out there.

OK, I'll put my reservation in for some Hawaiian.

Beautiful day today, if a tad brisk - just finished walking the Dal (we're doing several miles a day, weather permitting).  He's actually settled down a bit now that I've started this - much less demanding (but still clingy).  It's not hurting me any, either....

Got another phone (so I don't have to jump up from the recliner and dash to get to the phone) and I've got to run into town for some parts to hook it up.  May sound trivial, but when getting out of the chair includes moving the Dal (he fancies himself a lap dog), it makes a difference...

Greetings from my mother's computer in a very wet and dreary Minnesota.  I'll take a couple of slices of Supreme to supplement some of Mom's chicken noodle soup.

Joe, was the place you all stayed anywhere close to the Columbus Greyhound Station?

If so, we could have "waved & hollered" at each other as we went past!!

Had to make trip from Huntington, Wv. to here, and got Routed that way, then to

Cincy and on in to Louisville.  Not the best trip I've ever had!!

Thanks for the Post Card; wish you could look over there and still see that sight!!

Lance, Happy B-Day [bday] !!!!!!! Hope it's a GREAT ONE!!!!

//Cranks out awning to keep rain off.....//

Little wet here, but at least the tornado warnings are overwith.  Will grab a few slices and enjoy the rest of the evening.

April Fools Day also happens to be my parent's wedding anniversary, it will be 29 years this year.  When I called them earlier, they were getting ready to go out and celebrate, seeing as tomorrow they will be spending the evening in the barn milking (and I joked that it's with 85 other women, but not a one cooks or cleans. Mom got a laugh out of that...).

See everyone later.....

Good Sunday morning to all!  "Happy April Fools Day".   Randy, thanks for jogging my memory:  today is also Nance69's and Bob's wedding anniversary!  Completly forgot it!!  I'll have to call them later, and wish them "Happy Anniversary"!

Joe, thanks for making the juice and coffee, and a special thanks for the rolls for breakfast!!

Everyone have a great day, and I'll be wracking my brain for for the next hour, trying to think of a Sunday Dinner menu for today.   Meanwhile, everyone have a great Palm Sunday morning!

Good Morning right back. I put baby back ribs in the smoker yesterday afternoon. They are basted with Corky's BBQ sauce from Memphis. The beans are in the Dutch oven over the fire pit. I have a case of paper towels handy. Someone bring the cole slaw and we will have a feast today.
