Now, now, let's not get give the meteorologists too hard of a time. High risk days are notorious for being busts since they usually involve extreme conditions that are very difficult to forecast. That was the case today and things didn't work out. Generally though, I've been impressed with the forecasters this year, so they can be allowed a few inaccurate forecasts here and there.

Randy, my Dad had his trailer pass him several years ago. Granted he was only pulling an 8 footer, but looked over at my Mom, and said: "That looks like my trailer"!! (it was!!)
And no, noboby wants the other to happen!!

The company usually frowns on tailgating, so I hung way back on the freeway as much as I could. At least I wasn't the guy who rolled the tanker of corn syurp on the freeway yesterday, took a few hours for them to clean up that mess........
Afternoon, all......
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's usually a bad thing if one suddenly sees the side of the trailer one is pulling in the mirrors of the semi, right?? Was fighting the wheel during my time behind the wheel today just to keep the rig centered in the lane.
Local news has said that there was a tornado on the ground in Wisconsin Rapids about an hour ago, and more of the same is due for us later today and tonight.
Happy birthday, Mudchicken, have a good one, and keep the shiny side up. Will take some dinner and rest, more behind the wheel training tomorrow........

Glad you're ok. I noticed that warning and said a quick prayer that you guys would be safe!
The radar actually looks pretty tame for a high risk day. The SPC has got all of those tornado watches out, but there are only a few tornado/severe warnings. Things will probably get going stronger soon though with peak heating occurring right now. Hopefully it won't get too bad.
Just an update for those that caught my thread about my job situation. I got a chance to talk to the new boss and tell him I will quit if I'm not treated right and boy did that tighten him up . We resolved our differences and I think things will improve greatly. And I am finally going to get some badly needed help (I have been doing what 3 people used to do) and more money, and a share of the company. I'm glad I didn't loose my cool and quit.
Than means I can spend a little more time in here soon.
Everyone have a great day, and those in hostile weather country stay safe !!!!
Brian, hope you don't have any more tornadic weather tonight! But, just in case, get yourself and Joanie in a SAFE PL,ACE!!
Well, I don't know about everybody else, but I am certainly very disappointed that we haven't seen Mudchicken come in here yet!! At least I've saved a porterhouse steak, for when he does drop in.
For everybody else, supper is on the warmer bar. So just fill your plate, and head on out to the picnic tables, out on the patio! I've pushed the button, to extend the awning, so we can have some shade out there. Should be a little bit cooler out on the patio.

Well - a very Happy Birthday to our own Mudchicken! I'd wonder if he'd ever make it up this way on business, but the Adirondack was surveyed (and built) back in 1892, and I don't think we're planning on doing anything but fix it up (a challenge in and of itself).
Enjoy that tea and steak!
My 'oak' trousers have that "distressed" look now. Interesting touch....
Nice weather on tap here for a bit, anyhow, and hopefully for the weekend. Another couple of days on the railroad. Railfan trip on Saturday, but I'm not going along (we need the help on our own runs). They're stealing our ALCo, though. We get 'stuck' with our ex-PRR Geep. Maybe I can catch a cab ride - haven't ridden in that one yet. Depends a lot on who we have for the rest of the crew.

Brian, got to agree with that, when he and other half were here in Louisville last Sept.
and took us to Dinner at a Texas Roadhouse, he put away a very good meal!!
(As a matter of fact, I think he had a "Porterhouse Steak!)
I'm honestly hoping that you all do not have that severe weather they're talking about.
Seems we have a chance of the residuals later tonight or tomorrow in this area.
None of us need it!!

Dan, do you mean "Oh Lurch!", as in the Addams Family butler, meaning "YOU RANG?!?!?!"
I kind of thought that putting Porterhouse steaks and asparagus (sorry, Mookie) would be one sure way of getting him in here. Now, I have to try to figure out another way to get the Mudchicken in here for his birthday party!!
Gotta find a chicken. Can't find a chicken. Can't eat cake w/o a chicken. Where is the chicken.....
Asparagus - gag! CW - icky!
Now I have to go outside and look for a chicken!
I am here for steaks for lunch (woo hoo) and will be back for cake when the party really gets rolling. I assume the Mud Chicken will regale us with stories of some of the really dumb things he has seen happen in and around the railroad business in the past year.
Going out to set some anchors to keep things from blowing away today.

Okay, I haven't heard from Mudchicken yet, so here's what I've got so far: the birthday cakes are: chocolate w/chocolate icing; chocolate w/white icing; vanilla w/half chocolate, half white icing; a strawberry cake w/strawberry icing, and a yellow cake w/caramel icing.
For lunch, I've got: Porterhouse steaks w/baked potatoes, asparagus, green beans, corn, fresh garden salad. (I just hope this menu is to Mudchicken's liking), and there is a 25 gallon drum of unsweetened ice tea.

Hope you, and anyone else out that way of the U.S. DOES NOT GET ANY SEVERE WEATHER!!!
Happy Birthday Mudchicken!!
And, everyone over in northern Illinois and Wisconsin, please stay safe today. You've got some dangerous stuff on tap, as Dan and others have already mentioned.
