Joe, you're welcome! I made enough of everything this morning, so we have for tonight's supper menu: beef and noodles, open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, boiled cabbage, steamed cauliflower, and sweet green peas.
There's also plenty of chocolate and angel food cake for dessert, w/ice cream to top the cake of your choice with.
Everyone enjoy your supper and evening.

Well, I won't be around this weekend. I'm going to Folkston for two days so, I'll miss out on the Pizza fest. There will always be next weekend though. I usually see 60-80 trains in two days so it's worth the 6 hour drive. Have a great evening.
Another quiet day in here...maybe the air freshener needs to be changed! I'll put in this one...//plugs in AirWick 'Diesel Aroma'//...ahh...much better!

Captain Jeffrey Fuller, USN is one of the recurring characters in the books. Start with 'Deep Sound Channel' as I believe it is the first book of the series. Tactical undersea combat using submarines...pretty neat/scary/could happen somedayish.

Uh sorry Randy, guess we'll have to check the door again.
Someone must have reset the Paw Switch.

Yes, but it doesn't taste very good!!
Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler are a couple of my favorite authors.
I have most of Tom Clancy's books in my meager library.

I've got a couple of his books also Mook. They're not bad.
I'm guessing that the door is hinged so as to be surviveable the next time someone steps on the catitude.
Many tanx CW.
Why did Mooks have the new screen door hinged on the floor? Fly swatter/ Atom smasher? industrial size waffle iron?
Willy - verrry interesting. Sounds like a reasonably good summer, tho.
Dan - I loved Tom Clancy and always figured his novels had a lot of "it will happen" in them. Thanx for the paw opener - fanfare is nice touch, altho not necessary. It will play at an inoppor"tune" time and then someone will throw rocks!
MC - they can't come. It's too far for them, so I am going to have to devise another way to get out that way. Maybe a westbound GE? Wonder if they would mind if I just sat in the corner and didn't open ma mouf? .....guess that isn't gonna happen either......
Drat - another missed opportunity!
PS - Dan - Ken Follett books always made my hair stand on end, too! He was sooooo good!

Mudchicken, the tank car of Gatorade will soon be pulling out, heading your direction!
On the warmer bar, for lunch, you will find: beef noodles, leftover Mexican Fiesta from last night, open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, corn on the cob, boiled cabbage, steamed cauliflower and stir-fry veggies.
Regular desserts are on the counter/in the cooler.

Morning all! Mook I just wired in a 'Paw Activated' cat door switch. Place your paw on it then the door will open, and a small fanfare will play!
Country USA starts today here in Oshvegas. That means that for 5 days everyone is instantly from the south. The funny part is the fake accent that everyone acquires during the week. If I could record that y'all would laugh! Wait...what'd I just...aw shucks. Ah reckon it ain't so bad. If you want to see the lineup that's playing look at www.countryusaoshkosh.com under the lineup page. It's quite the show. Back later!

80 and rainclouds would be really nice! This hot weather is interesting in more ways than one....we had a crew find out that it's not a good idea to leave a truck of high-early concrete sitting for an hour on a hot day yesterday.
BTW, the new toy is alive and well. Will send you some pix this afternoon. Good luck with your schedule!

Hope Willy has seen George Carlin's old schtick, the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman.
Ah yes. Really nice to see that everyone is all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed over in the Blue Island thread. It provides great amusement for anyone who wants to just sit back, read, and laugh.
And now... back by popular demand... it's Willy's Summer Forecast!
Ms. Mookie: I believe that this summer, for our fair and humble part of the state, is going to feature slightly above average temperatures. This is due to the fact that conditions have become dry lately. When the ground is dry, there is less moisture in the air. The drier the air, the easier it is for temperatures to heat up and cool down quickly, thus hot high temperatures.
Now, there are a few storm chances for the next couple of days. If we manage to moisten things up enough again, we might not get as hot. So basically, I think temperatures will be above normal, but not too much above normal. Also, expect at least one heatwave with a prolonged stretch ("prolonged stretch" meaning at least a week, but not more than two weeks) of highs in the 90s and maybe a couple of 100s.
I think that precipitation will be about normal (or perhaps a bit below normal) for the summer as a whole, but July could be fairly dry, thus providing favorable conditions for those above normal temps I mentioned above. Do keep in mind that one thunderstorm could ruin this forecast. Maybe all of July will be extremely dry, but then on the last day of the month we'll get a storm that dumps four inches of rain and we'll end up above normal. These long range forecasts are tricky when you consider all of the different things that could go wrong, like the above scenario.
Anyway, that's my take on things. If this turns out to be horribly wrong, please don't be too harsh! I'm just going with my gut instinct.
EDIT: Congrats on the rain, Modelcar. Hopefully there is more coming.
Willy
Is the door still holding up? I'm thinking we should have used Trigger's Diamond Plate,
and Ed's stainless steel as a backer.
Mook, you shouldn't have had to climb in through to window, the door moves reasonably easy.
(albeit a lot heavier now)
My "weather rock" got pitched several years ago, never worked anyway.
Willy, please don't worry, I can't throw that far.
Q - you can plan on cool today and then hot for rest of week. And that is just based on what we had pass through here.
It was a little cloudy west of us at 5:15 am and just a hint of light - perfect...!
J
....Good Morning all.....Was a little surprised at J. saying "a little dark yet, but still beautiful"....and then realized, sure she is that much farther west and our day here is well under way with sun shining bright....
And Willy, would you believe we did get some rain yesterday....For about a half hour or so, but when I looked in my rain gauge I was amazed....We received a full inch of rain !! Haven't had that much in weeks and weeks. Need much more, but one inch should help a little.
But doubt it for today....Sunshine and a bit cooler. Instrument is registering 73 and that's about 10 or more cooler than we've been seeing about 7:30 in the morning.
Quentin
good morning
mookie dont worry.we will put plenty of hydraulics and neumatics on the cat door part of the door to make sure you can get in and out ok.here is some coffee for you.we have juice lemonade and gatorade made up for today too. alot less humidity this morning.Mookie some people are throwing their weather rocks at the weather people but I know willy is safe.
Good Wednesday morning, Mookie, and everyone! Sure is a pleasant morning, with a nice gentle breeze out.
Coffee is on, hot tea available, and juice made fresh.
On the warmer bar: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, and bear claws.
Mookie, guess you'll have to talk with some of the guys about that new door!!
Mookie, if you need any help heckling anyone, just let me know!!
Cheeze - I am gone for the night and come back to the diner, only to have to climb in the window. Good thing we leave them open!
Someone told me I was a little heavy pawed on opening the door, but if you have ever had a cat in life - (as you should) - you know that cats hate closed doors - especially haughty ones!
They will open all doors just to find out what is on the other side and then w/o entering the room, turn and walk away for a nap. This works especially well when the person on the other side of the door is in the bathtub and in no position to close the door! So if you like to soak in the tub - get a dog - they only lick the top of the bathtub to death (ugh)
I need to have a little chat with Willy when he comes in. I want him to put away all his charts and graphs and just close his eyes and tell me what our summer is going to be weather-wise. I don't want the canned weather from the weather bureau - I want his honest opinion of what he thinks summer will bring to our part of the state. Right, wrong or indifferent - he will be just as accurate as the rest of that field and..... my weather rock. (Maybe he should keep his eyes open a little to see to type....)
Happy Wednesday - it is a beautiful morning. (a little dark yet, but still beautiful.)
Coffee to go - I have to go heckle someone.
