The next round of our FRIDAY FISH FRY is now unde way.  Everything is out on the warmer bar.

But tonight, I think I'm just going to have some soup.  My sinuses are draining so much, that I can hardly see straight.  And definitely don't feel too well, right now.

Everyone enjoy your dinner/supper/lunch (depending on your time zone), and I'll try to get back in after awhile.

I had a fairly good day in Fremont today. I saw a total of 17 trains, 5 of which were BNSF. The other 12 were UP. I saw a total of 4 Southern Pacific units on coal trains, but all were patched.

Two UP lines meet at Fremont; the Omaha and Blair Subs. There are three holding tracks at Fremont which the dispatcher usually stocks with trains off the Blair Sub. All three tracks will get loaded with trains, and then they all go in a pretty short period of time. Today, one train had been released and was going by and another was sneaking up on another one of the holding tracks. That one stopped and pretty soon there was a big BOOM. Shortly thereafter, the crew of another train got on the radio and said he had rear-ended the train that had just stopped. Apparently there was no real damage as things got going again pretty fast.

The last train I saw was a BNSF train and both of its locomotives were Santa Fe warbonnets. They were both patched, but it was still very nice to see those Santa Fe units.

Anyway, the snow is still coming Saturday evening through Sunday morning. It still looks like 5 to 8 inches, so I'm pretty excited.

Everyone have a good weekend and stay safe in whatever weather you may experience.

Probably required a new EOT for the front train, and a new engineer for the rear one?Whistling [:-^]

Thanks for the great dinner.  It was nice after a long day at school that started with a calculus pop quiz (what a way to start the day, eh).

Hope you feel better CW.  Don't worry about us here at the diner we can take care of ourselves while you get some rest. Take care.

Got you beat in the snow department already, Willy.  Drove home from my Friday night poker game with about six inches of snow on the ground, and still snowing hard.  Never got above 30mph, was mainly 20-25mph in third gear, in 4wd.  Stopped twice to bust the ice off my wiper blades as well.

Weather radio now predicts six to nine inches tonight, and about eight to twelve inches for the main event on Saturday night thru Sunday.  Sleet and ice has been cut out of the forecast, but still supposed to be very windy.

Keep it between the ditches, Jay, I'd loan you my truck, but I need it tomorrow to run errands before the snow hits.  See everyone later.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  I think I'm feeling a little bit better this morning.

Emmar, thanks for the well wishes; and Joe, thank you so much for getting the coffee on, and making the juice.

On the warmer bar for breakfast:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, western omelettes, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, grits, country-fried ham w/redeye gravy, oatmeal and toast.

Everyone have a great day, be careful out there (especially if you're in an area getting snow, ice and sleet).  They are now saying our rain won't be in unitl late afternoon, and continuting through to about noon tomorrow.

And a good Saturday morning to everyone out there! I've looked at the breakfast menu which CW just posted and it sure looks good to me. I'm hungry!Dinner [dinner]

It's raining here in Sioux Falls, and at the moment we have a temperature of 34 degrees above 0. Hopefully, the rain we are getting will not freeze. I will be headed for my other part-time job within a couple hours. I got my first pay check from Wendy's yesterday afternoon.........not too bad considering the limited number of hours that I had worked in the last two weeks. I will use every bit of it to pay utility bills.

I've got some dishes in my kitchen that need to be washed, and gotta clean up my kitchen counters so that I will be able to bake bread tomorrow. If pizza is on the menu for dinner in the Diner tonight, I might show up with a big bucket of homemade ice cream and a pan of chocolate fudge brownies.Chef [C=:-)]

Good Morning!

I hope everyone is having a great Saturay so far!

Ray - welcome back!

Last night we got a nice little thunderstorm. There was actually some pretty loud thunder and half an inch of rain, so that was a very nice treat.

The snow is still on its way here in Omaha. 5 to 8 inches are expected. One thing that I'm worried about is the fact that the NAM puts a nice dry slot over southeast Nebraska and cuts our amounts down to 3 inches. However, that model seems to be the odd one out and it has been discounted from everyone's forecasts. Who knows, they may regret that decision.

After this storm, I'll be ready for spring. I'm ready to see some greenery and warm temperatures.

Welcome back, Ray.

It is indeed very nasty here at this point- we've been getting rain all morning, and with a temperature currently at 28.8 degrees, you can imagine what's happening to that rain when it hits the ground.  Joanie and I made a run to the grocery store earlier for our weekly stock-up, and now we're hunkering down for the rest of the weekend.  One of our local forecasters is bucking the trend of everyone else (most are saying 3-6" by tomorrow) and is forecasting 7 to 13" for us Shock [:O]  Regardless, they're all giving us a blizzard warning (I wish it were a Blysard warning Clown [:o)]), and I suspect that we won't have to worry about church in the morning.  Hopefully the rain will change over to snow pretty soon so we don't have to worry about losing power- the lights have been flickering a few times this morning.

Hi
I drove down to the pharmacy this morning. Roads just a little slick. Then walking to the truck 20 minutes later, I could hardly stand up. Windy and rain now with 28 degrees. The ice is building up. My only worry is a power failure. AmerenIP has very few linemen any more, so when the lines go down, it can take a long time to fix em.
I just grabbed a couple of biscuits and I'll be back for some of Ray's ice cream and brownies.

I"m sure we're in for some stuff here, but I haven't looked at TWC, or even the radar.  The sun is out, and it's 23 right now - for the middle of February or so, that's not bad at all.

Spokyone - Most of the utilities are like that now.  Back when they were more locally owned they were much better equipped to deal with emergencies.  Nowadays service is well down their list of priorities.  The bottom line is much more important.

I got home from work within the last half hour and it is snowing here in Sioux Falls, so I figure that Willy must have pointed his weather machine in my direction. But that's O.K. If you are going to live in a place like South Dakota you should be willing to put up with a few inches of snow now and then.Cowboy [C):-)] Right now we have a temperature of 30 degrees and we have a winter storm warning for tonight and into early tomorrow morning. 5 to 8 inches of snow have been forecasted for this region where I live.

I'll be dropping off a couple gallons of my homemade vanilla ice cream and a pan or two of chocolate fudge brownies for tonight's dessert shortly. I know the ice cream will be gone in a flash!Chef [C=:-)]
