I tried that too, Willy.  I guess I didn't say the right thing either.  I've given up on that thread.

Sorry about being so late getting back in.  Errands took a little bit longer than I planned.

Hope everyone was able to find something for lunch!!

Okay, I know of ONE birthday today:  Nance69, Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday]!!!!!!  Nance, hope your birthday is the best ever, hope you enjoy your day.  (And I won't tell anyone here exactly how young you are today!!)

For her birthday dinner here in the Diner, Nance has requested the following two dishes:

1.  chicken & dumplings and

2.  pork chop abracadbra

So those two dishes are now ready, and more of both will be added to the warmer bar later for the supper menu.

For dessert tonight:  a chocolate birthday cake, and a white/yellow cake with white icing, with blue, green, pink and yellow decorations!  Hopefully, they won't have any storms in her area tonight, that will prevent her from coming in to enjoy her Birthday Dinner!!

Good afternoon!

Still trying to quell the uprising in the waving thread. Someday I'll get a brain and give up on it.

Humid and warm here. Perhaps rain, perhaps not. Just your good old fashioned midwest summer day. Looks like it will get hot by the weekend.

I don't touch the flavored liquids anymore- it's been 21 months now since I last drank a regular soda.  Just ice water for me or an occasional skim/chocolate milk or beer, thank you.  Now if I could just swear off of chocolate, I might actually lose some weight again...

Mook, guess you don't need to come to Louisville for all the Ethnic Festivals then, most are during July, August & September.  still warm and humid!) (Although, the Greek festival is pretty wild!!)

And of course, lets not forget "Octoberfest", still humid 'tho.

WOAH!  BRRR!  Thanks Brian.  I needed that.  Time for a sandwich then it's off to work.  I had to finish trimming the shrubs outside this morning.  Yech is the best way I can sum it up.  CW you should have email later today.  I have to finish editing photos first!

.....J....An area near my home in Pennsylvania....{Johnstown}, has a quanity of ethnic festivals each Fall....Lots of them, as the location fostered influx of immigrants during early in the last century for the work in coal mines and steel mills, etc...

Beautiful {different}, designs of churches dot the area and I'm sure these ethnic foods are all available at the festivals.  Don't think I could handle much of it though....{The foods, that is}.  The different music flows too and people really look forward to all the above.

Sir C - sounds like an oxymoron to me - gullible/judge/city.....without even reading the tidbit, I can only imagine!  And you just know our fair city will beat every ounce of life out of this deal until they get some kind of a verdict in their favor....I can't even print the names the Driver is calling "the big dig...".....

Q - trust me on this - the Czech menu is a whole lot more appealing than the (shudder) oyster platter.....I am not sure it is regional - since I have a mental image of oyster eating being right up there with goldfish swallowing.  (and I will even eat and enjoy pickled herring....)  Smile [:)]

....Hmmmm....That mentioned above and there was surprise with comsuming crackers and raw oysters.....Maybe it's a regional thing....

Ah - an interesting morning.  We have had continual moisture in the form of humidity here lately.  It did tinkle again a little.  Tinkle is a little more than we usually get - August usually very hot and very dry.

Tree - I will take one of those tickets.  Maybe I can use it to slip into a topic on the forum.  ?

It is getting to be kolache time in the area.  Anyone know or not know what a kolache is?  Bet most of you have eaten one at one time or another.  Prune and apricot are my favorites.  Right along with a bratwurst and light on the sauerkraut!  Drool....We have a Czech festival coming up very soon.  I used to love to go, but can't tolerate the heat any more and it always seems to be the hottest time of the year.  Guess that is better than frozen....

Going to go dig in the garden and then rest with CW.  Pretty taxing........

Good Wednesday morning, all!  Coffee has just finished brewing, and there's freshly made orange juice, iced tea, lemonade, and orange/tangerine juice in the cooler and fridge (made sure I made plenty of everything this morning).

You will find an assortment of breakfast items on the breakfast bar/warmer bar.

Think I'll take my coffee and a couple of biscuit/sausage 'sandwiches' out to the garden, and enjoy Mother Nature, until others start coming in this morning.

Well - first day of testing of a new system I'm installing, and all is going well.

Got a lot to do here at the house, so I'll grab some supper and run.  Can eat between printing tickets (if I keep my fingers clean - don't need fingerprints on them!).

Well, right now, at 5:40 p.m., our temp is 90, and I'm not sure what the humidity index is, exactly, but it is HOT, and no rain in sight until at least sometime over the weekend, or the beginning of next week, if I remember the forecast correctly.

I have supper on the warmer bar:  tacos, enchiladas, burritos, quasadillas, etc.  Have chopped up plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, and have plenty of salsa, picante sauce, and con queso.

You all  enjoy your MEXICAN FIESTA, and keep as cool as possible tonight.

....J....That doesn't surprise me of Johnny being supportive of his University.  I believe he was a very private person too and surprisingly shy....

I am a person that would think he treated folks and such as the University...that were good to him on "the way up" and remembered them as he was at the top.

Seems hard to believe he's gone.  He had unusual timing and talent....and occasionally it really would shine.  Some of the stuff he did on his show was super hilarious.  And not down in the gutter to do it.

CW - I finally had to resort to the "shut the door" option.  It was heavenly in here.  I could add up a column of figures, write receipts and balance all the books - and no one interrupted me!

It is the "need to hand you" everything for processing I find so irksome.  We have a runner and she would pick it up gladly and hand them all to me at once.  But they don't use her.  They have to have the personal touch!

Anyway - got the $$$ counted and safely put away.

I did hear from Joe - he had to work OT and then corral Matt, so will be unavailable for awhile.  I swear I don't know when that young man sleeps - Joe, not Matt.....  He must run on Sir Chicken's Gatorade!

Grabbing a banana and off to sit in the peace and quiet of the garden.  If anyone wishes to join me, wear your slippers so you don't make any noise and please do so....

Moo....

Dan and Mookie, a nap sounds very, very appealing right now!  We 'only' had 78 people show up for PRODUCE TUESDAY this morning.  On the list today:  ears of corn, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, chocolate milk, vegetable trays w/dip, and watermelons.  But with that many people, you had a choice of chocolate milk, veggie tray, or watermelon.  I took the veggie tray.

So, for lunch today, we have the veggie tray (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery and cherry tomatoes), burgers, hot dogs, beef barbeque, and your choice of fries, onion rings or chips,open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, or open-face turkey sandwiches w/mashed taters and gravy.

Mookie:  if I could get to Nebraska, I'd offer to help you with your backlog of work!!

You all keep as cool as possible today, and see you after awhile.
