Cannonball & Shirl, have a safe journey, and you will be missed!  Hopefully, the laptop connections will let you report in, whenever possible, to let us know how you're doing.

Our FRIDAY NIGHT FISH FRY is now underway.  Tonight we have:  cod, catfish, rainbow trout, perch, haddock and halibut; along with corn on the cob, cole slaw, fries, onion rings, and an assortment of  homemade pies for dessert.

You all have a good evening, and keep as cool as possible!!

Yesh!!!  I was 17 years old at the time, a senior in high school and had been across that bridge

a couple of weeks prior to that happening. Family lived about 100 miles or so downstream,

and we had made a family outing one weekend to Gallipolis. Went up the WVa. side,  crossed the river and back down into Gallipolis.

Just take care in your travels, and remember to keep the "Shiny Side" up!!

Good Afternoon!

I personally don't care what anyone thinks about the Diner, I'm just glad to be able to be a part of it since I've made so many friends here. If the rest of the forum thinks that the only things we talk about here are the weather and "gooseberries", then that's their problem.

Speaking of the weather... it's still hot and humid here. Nothing new about that.

Everyone have an excellent evening!

I am a co-aministrator on a photography website, and we have a "Coffee Shop" in our forum as well, so everyone can discuss the different issues.  It really works out pretty well.  I don't see any problem with having a thread like this. I have read it a few times, but never posted.

Mookie, I too have noticed that the other forums all have a coffee shop. And they do offter interesting reading, just like our DD/CS.  And I too, have a pain.  Maybe it'll go away permentenly.  (And I'm not talking about the pain in my knees, either, which is getting much worse, with all the humidity!!)

Now, onto our 'imaginary' Friday menu:  FRIDAY FISH FRY is now underway.  All the normal menu items are on the warmer bar, and we have loads and loads of different pies for dessert.  Also, I've replenished the iced tea and lemonade for the afternoon.

Hopefully, I can once again enjoy going train watching, maybe sometime around Thanksgiving.  I truly miss walking three blocks west to the tracks, and seeing the trains going by.  Come on, September 17th!!

Actually Jay, one person that comes to mind has actually thrown a boulder. Too bad it got off the catapult and didn't fall back on his "glass house"!

Have fun with the camera today, be careful and don't "melt" in this heat and humidity.

As a matter of fact, take some of the Diner's Gatorade with you, to stay hydrated.

(I'm sure the chicken will share)

Will be looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Murph, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner!!  And, you don't have to just 'hide' in here:  you are more than welcome to come in, any time you want!!  In here, we allow everybody to talk about whatever they want, and no one judges you, if your opinion doesn't agree with someone else!!  We're all nice in here!!

And yes, Ray, SHARE THE PIE with anyone who wants a slice or two.  We have plenty of pies, so be a good boy, and share!Wink [;)]

What on earth is going on, elsewhere, that is peeving everybody off?!?!  There are some threads I don't even bother looking at, because I know it'll upset me to no end.

Mookie, in my opinion, those who don't read the Diner, are people who think their opinions and views are much superior to ours; so they don't want to associate with us.  To me, that's just their tough luck!!  We have great people in here, who have knowledge, and don't look down on us who don't have as much knowledge as themselves!!  Okay, getting off my SoapBox [soapbox] now.

Coffee, iced tea and lemonade are ready to go this morning!!  Brought in all kinds of doughnuts and danish this morning for breakfast.  Too hot and muggy this morning, to be doing a whole lot of cooking.  I'll save my energy for our FRIDAY FISH FRY later!!

If anyone wants to leave the AC in here, you are more than welcome to join me out in the garden, before it gets too warm out there!!

Wake up Tree.  Seems we have a range war.

I posted an answer, but the people in the lofty positions that don't wish to read the diner, but still seem to be able to comment on it, probably will just pass it off as more nonsense from a diner patron.

Maybe some of them wouldn't be so snotty about things if they took the time to actually try to see someone else's point of view.

Sheesh - been busy so haven't been able to get in.  Might be able to sneak in for dinner a few times next week.

CP - Just make sure you share the apple pie.

Nice and clear here all night, but a rogue thunderstorm raised cain over the southern part of the county - fire departments are out chasing the usual gamut of trees down and stuff.  I'm only up because a nice little old lady fell on her way to the bathroom and couldn't get up by herself, so she used her nice new emergency call button.

It's too early for breakfast, so I'm gonna go nap for a bit...
