Cantaloupe?  Where's my spoon?

The peaches may look funny, but I'd bet they make good home-made ice cream.....   I'll start cranking.

Locally, our high today has reached 99 degrees.  Yuck!!!!  Tomorrow through Thursday, might be in the low to mid 100s, they're saying.  So, since the vichsoise soup apparently did not go over too well for lunch, for tonight, we'll just go with cold cut sandwiches, chips, and cold garden salads w/turkey, ham and or roast beef added. We still have plenty of ice cold watermelon and freezer pops, for dessert tonight, also.  And the Gatorade, iced tea and lemonade have all been restocked and are cold, ready for consumption by all who are thirsty.

Joe and Lance, have containers in the fridge, ready for you to take to work tonight.

Lunch today is going to be on the cool side:  vichysoise soup (in other words, cold soup!), and cold cut sandwiches, served with chips.    It's just too hot to cook today!!

Desserts today:  cold cheesecake, ice cream, ice cold watermelon, and flavor-ice pops.

Plus, there's plenty of ice cold iced tea, lemonade, Gatorade (all flavors), and plain ole H2O!!

Guess the resident cat is very busy, catching up on all the work that was probably put on her desk Friday afternoon!!

Good Monday morning, all!  SactoGuy, welcome back, long time no see!!  Glad everyone seemed to have a good weekend, even if it was a hot weekend!

Coffee is on, oj, and lemonade are freshly made, and on the breakfast bar, you'll find the regular breakfast items.

It's going to be another 3H day, so everyone take care, and stay as cool as possible.  Everyone who works outside, please make sure you've got plenty of Gatorade and water to keep yourselves hydrated!!

I'm headed out to the garden for a few, and enjoy the 'cool' air, before it starts getting really stuffy and unbearable.

Talked with our owner yesterday, and Jhh says "Hi" to everyone.

Good evening everyone (grabs a burger off the grill).

By the way, you wouldn't believe the high temperature in Sacramento, CA today--only 75° F.! Shock [:O] We had a cold front go through and the high dropped from 98° F. yesterday to only 75 today, which is just ridiculously abnormal for where I live. The weather felt more like mid-spring than mid-summer.

Just got back from Door County, WI.  Fun weekend!

On the way up and back we passed over the Leo Frigo bridge in Green Bay, WI.  Saw loads of run-through UP power in the yard.  If anyone noticed a shortage of UP power anywhere on that system I think I know where it is!  Lots of nice lookin' widenose GEs.  Off to bed...adios!

Well, thank goodness it cooled off a bit here today - we had problems with the HEP generator yesterday, and after a discussion with the railroad's chief mechanic it was decided we wouldn't use it today.  No lights, no fans, no A/C.  I managed to power up the PA briefly for each trip using a car starter box and an inverter.

At least we had two passenger cars with windows that opened, as well as the baggage, with serves as our 'open air' car anyhow.  Still, it was warm....

I think we may get some of Joe's rain later.  No harm in that.  The weekend was beautiful.

Saturday night I sat in on a lecture by Michael Kudish, author of the "Where did the Tracks Go in the Adirondacks" series of books.  The second volume of the third edition is out, which covers the central region of the Adirondacks - and our former Mohawk and Malone/NYC Adirondack Division.  I have some reading to do.

Good Sunday morning!  Joe, thanks so very much for  putting out the leftover pizza, and making pancakes, sausage & eggs this morning.  Also for making the coffee, lemonade and cooling the Gatorade.

We're supposed to have a chance for a few 'showers' this morning.  But, if we do, it'll only make things more miserable this afternoon.  Not really going to cool things off around here.  Typical August weather.

Think I'll fire up the charcoal grill for this afternoon.  It'll be the usual burgers, hot dogs, brats, corn on the cob, and grilled 'baked' potatoes.  Anyone interested, can show up around 2 p.m. EDT, and everything will be ready. Including the usual side dishes of cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad.

Well, it's been another really hazy, hot and humid day around here.  I'm not really sure the exact reading, but the heat index is very high.   Here's the SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA MENU:

1.  anchovie
2.  Canadian bacon
3.  cheese w/extra cheese
4.  pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
5.  Hawaiian
6.  supreme

LC, just for you, I've fixed a fish of catfish, with a large side of onion rings.

And for dessert, there's peach pie ala mode for everyone!!

Hope you all enjoy, and enjoy the ac here in the Diner.

I agree with Willy. Especially when one considers that Bergie asked very nicely to ease up on the menu discussion a little bit. Posting loaded menu items doesn't really seem to be in the spirit of acquiescing to Bergie's reasonable request.

Joe and Mutt, thank you both so very much for fixing breakfast this morning!!  You both did excellent jobs, as usual.  I got out of the house early, went to the grocery, to get ice cream, creamcicles, and ice cream sandwiches.  Thought they'd all be good for all of us cooling down, in this heat!!

Will be back later, to fix the pizzas, and get them in the oven (probably around 6, 7 p.m. EDT.
