Ray,

To post a picture, this is the process I follow:

1) I go to the site that has the picture that I want to post. In most cases, that's my PBase site. When I'm at the page that has the shot I want, I right click on the address at the top of Internet Explorer. A pop-up menu will appear. I choose "Copy."

2) I start or reply to a thread here at Trains.Com.

3) When I want to insert the image, I type {img} (however, the { and the } become [ and ] respectively.

4) Right click behind the {img} and choose "Paste."

5) In my case, I have to add ".jpg" to the end of the file as Trains.com will only recognize image files. You may or may not have to do this.

6) Type {/img}, once again submitting [ and ] for { and }.

7) Finish typing your message, and post as normal. If you have any trouble, let me know. If you can point me to where you keep your pictures at on the web, maybe I can do a specific example and try to help you that way.

Hope this helps at least a little bit.

I finally figured out how to add my own Avatar to my posts, now if I could only figure out how to post photos. Bergie's suggestions are of no help to me, and if it involves cutting and pasting, that is something I am not familiar with,

Anyway, the subject of my Avatar is #37, a GP-10 of the Ellis & Eastern Railroad here in Sioux Falls. The Ellis & Eastern is a shortline owned by Concrete Materials.

Just one small correction.  "B"s birthday is on Monday the 8th, not Sunday the 8th.  And while not everyone on the forum deserves their own thread, "B" certainly does.

Thanks!

Actually, I ran that picture through a graphics program the lets you turn a photo into a watercolor - so if you think that's what I look like, you're only close.

Christmas tie notwithstanding (I was working the 'Polar Express') - that's my standard get-up when working on the train.  The hat, however, has (as of Christmas) been replaced with a standard conductor's style cap.

Nevermind that I was a "car host," basically an usher.  Appearance is everything, and a lot of Christmas albums will feature pictures of the kids on the "Polar Express" with me as 'the conductor.'

Afternoon All,

Thought I'd quick stop in and tell you all that I made it back. Found Denver buried in snow (though it's much better than I thought it was going to be) and my desk buried in paperwork (though it's much worse than I thought it would be). Will try to stop into tonight.

Ed, I'll see about a new avatar pic, but let's just say that there's a reason I stay on the other side of the camera! Wink [;)]

Ed, I would post a photo of myself if I only knew how to go about doing it. Same goes for setting up my own Avatar.

For those of you who might wonder what I look like, I will give you all a physical description of myself and you can use your imaginations.

I am 5'9" in heighth, I weigh somewhere between 160 and 170 pounds. I have brown hair which is thinning out and slowly turning gray. At 52 years of age I am partially bald. I have a mustache which I keep neatly trimmed. I have green eyes, and an oval shaped head. I wear glasses with pewter frames. Cherokee Woman, her husband and Sarah all know what I look like because fairly recently I had sent them a picture of myself.

Just got back in town yesterday myself.  Nice long weekend with the wife's side of the family with the almost three year old and two 16 month old grand children.  Just minor chaos.

It may not be global warming but it sure is an interesting January in the forecast for souther WI.  Next ten days with daytime highs in the 40's.  TAKE THAT, YOU GAS UTILITY!!!

Just coffee and I'll pick something off the warming bar for a light breakfast.  Keeps down the dishwashing.

Is it possible that *** (k r a u t) is a word that is not allowed on the forum unless in combination with sauerkraut?

Ps. There are a couple of brats living next door that you are more than welcome to, CW.

Okay, looks like Mookie is the only one who had a special request for lunch today.  Do not know why *** was printed out in astericks, but that and the brats will be ready and on the warmer bar by 12 noon EST, along with some leftover spaghetti and meatballs, and salad.

For dessert, we have apple, peach, pecan and cherry pies, along with the two chocolate cakes I frosted yesterday.

And just for my info, do we have any forum member birthdays for this month?  I think that Janurary is the only month on my BIRTHDAY CALENDAR that I don't have any forum members listed for a birthday.

....Central Indiana Non winter continues here.....and weather pattern shows no change yet.  Wonderful.  50's predicted for today again, and the mini is tilted here in the office on my eastern window as the bright sun shines right on the computer screen.  No complaints from me on that...

Normal work week resumes for lots of folks but it is a short one so that should make it a bit easier.

I'll go for the biscuits and gravy with some hash browns.  A sausage or three and some bacon sounds good too.  We have dark clouds floating overhead this morning warning of an approaching storm.  I suppose this storm will dump on us and head (for the third time) for Denver.  Get ready to dig out again!

This is a scrambled eggs with tater tots kind of morning.  I'll have that with a glass of milk, please.

Looks to be another beautiful day today - high in the mid 60s.

Yep, back at work after five days off - Same chaos, though.

Weather here is extremely mild - upper thirties, and the several inches of snow we got between the holidays is long gone.  Hardly seems like January in northern New York...

The good side is that we have a project underway that requires some foundation work - which would normally be impossible this time of year, but they are hard at it, trying to get things done before if finally does get cold.

Didn't get in much over the long holiday - Felt like I had a nasty hangover New Years Day, but it wasn't because of any overdoing of the celebration.  More like lack of sleep after three ambulance calls during the early morning hours.

I see my bearclaw and tea are ready, and a customer just called for some attention, so I'd better run.

Good Wednesday morning to everyone!  I'm very glad to see that everyone who comes in overnight, is doing a great job of picking up after themselves, and not leaving everything in a mess.

The coffee is ready, hot chocolate is on, along with hot tea.

Let's give a big Sign - Welcome [#welcome] back to folks like the Mookster, who have not been in as much, over the holidays.

On the warmer bar, you will find:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, tater tots, and homemade hash browns, fresh baked bagels.

I have seen on the news  this morning, that California is on Red Alert  due to the high winds and dry conditions.  Wonder how our long-lost friend Dan Harmon is fairing out there, along with our other friends, like Chad.  Hope they are all doing well.

Everyone have a great day, and I'm taking requests for lunch/dinner and for dinner/supper menus for today.

tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe......

OOOOOO - A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!  Wow - this new diner has everything.  mmmmm

Now I can tipsquish, tipsquish.  Leave little prints on the floor...(sorry CW - I will make them go away!)

I am back!  One more day of stupid, stupid, stupid tv and pressing my nose to the window and I would have been forced to get a real job!  Did get in some nice train watching.  Nothing spectacular, but nice anyway.

Woke up during the nite thinking I should patter down the hall and go pitter, but didn't want to wake up fully and sure didn't want to look at the clock, which always wakes me up more, since I start counting the hours until 3:45.  So kept my eyes closed and just got into the closet we call a bathroom and heard AMTRAK.  Westbound is usually always close to their correct time, so without even opening an eye, I knew just about what time it was! (12:35).  Sigh [sigh]

Did go back to sleep, but had a smile on my face!  Won't get rid of my clock, but nice to know Amtrak helps out once in awhile!

Off tomorrow again for Driver's eye replacement.  While they are in there, wonder if they can give him a brown one to go with his green one.  Big Smile [:D]

Back maybe on Friday.  Must go hunt down that big chocolate cake that I am sure Mr. Willy left for me.  He is still going to get a ton of snow - they are scraping it up as we speak!  Enjoy!

CW - can we have brats and sauerkraut for lunch?  Yum!  Will eat it out of my coffee cup - can never get enough of a good thing, you know!

Gosh the new diner is nice!  And is that a personalized door that I see for the kitty?  I just got back in from the great central valley of California.  The weather was about 50 when I got there which was a lot better than the 10 degrees at my house when I left!  Tonight, Reno is cloudy and much warmer with low temps probably just above 30.  We still don't have much snow and what white stuff there is has a hard layer of ice on top.  I don't see any rotary plows in Donnor Pass immediete future.  Kudos to all of you who worked hard on getting the new diner up.  Happy New Year to everyone!!
