Good morning everyone. At the present moment we have a cloudy, overcast sky here in Sioux Falls, and a temperature of 34 degrees. The wind chill puts us at about 29 here. Our weather here is quite mild, when in the month of January it could be a lot colder than this.

I think I'll grab a bear claw or two while I am here in the Diner. It's good that Cherokee Woman provides us with good stuff like this for breakfast, it's much appreciated.

I will be busy in my kitchen baking bread later this morning. I use all the old fashioned, traditional methods when baking bread, where everything is done by hand. I do not use a bread machine. I have been treating a number of the people that I work with at my part time employer with a loaf of freshly baked bread, and I will be making a couple deliveries later this afternoon. It's fun to surprise someone with a fresh loaf of homemade bread when they are not expecting it.Chef [C=:-)]

Good Friday morning, everyone!  It's a "nice" rainy morning here in Louisville, with a current temp of 61 degrees.  And even with rain most of the day, we're supposed to get up to a high of 78, 79 degrees.

Coffee is ready, juice is made (regular oj, and oj/tangerine), hot chocolate and hot tea are on the drinks menu this morning.

I have breakfast ready:  doughnuts, muffins, bear claws and bagals, along with bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and scrambled eggs are on the warmer bar.  Ray, thanks so much for the fresh baked bread you brought in last night.  Appreciate it!!

Hope everyone has a great day.  Be careful and stay safe out there, and hope you see lots of trains today.

Evening All,

Willy, Thanks for the new batch of snow headed our way. The old stuff is either disappearing or starting to look terrible. 4-6" is manageable, and will look nice if I decide to go do some picturating. As long as you avoid the one foot plus totals, you'll get no argument from me.

Kathi! It's good to see you in here. It's nice to know that the folks at Kalmbach have time to stop in for a bite to eat at the Diner from time to time!

Well, I guess I must be on my way. I have a couple tasks to accomplish this evening so I can have a free weekend. I found a place in Denver that rents out a lens that, as far as I've been able to discern, doesn't exist. Of course that did nothing but stir my curiosity. Will post some details after the weekend is over if it goes through.

Must be on my way now. Hope you all have a good evening!

TTFN!

I just noticed that DD&CS is not a five star establishment.  For some reason, it only rates 4 1/2 stars.  Hmmm...

I'll have a couple slices of bread along with soup.  Pass the butter, please.

A New Year's welcome to Kathi K.  She is the writer of no less than two feature articles in the current issue of Trains.  And, with the others on the staff, she has had to take on extra duties while waiting for the appointment of a new Associate Editor.  Andy Cummings, a young man with very impressive credentials, has taken that job.  Perhaps he will drop by the DD&CS and best wishes can be offered.

and he seems to be doing well.  Mook is taking off tomorrow to take care of him,

and should be back in,on Monday.

Some fish sticks, fries, and cornbread sound mighty good for this evening!

My first day back at school went fine. It was just the same old boring stuff. The good news is that I'm done with gym class forever. Replacing gym class this semester is speech.

It looks like there is some more snow (4-6 inches) headed for Denver. I hope Chris and Mudchicken don't mind too much.

Well, let's see. I'd love to have some of that beef veggie soup and corn bread for lunch. Dinner? That one's up in the air. As for B's birthday, I don't know of anything in the works just yet. I usually don't get to see him much, as I'm upstairs and he's downstairs. But I'll make a point of harrassing him — I mean, wishing him well — on Monday. Any suggestions? Good news about the depot. Keep me posted as things start to happen, OK, Joe? Thanks! Kat

Afternoon all -

Wow! Not only did the 'Coffeeshop' over on the MRR side of things have to 'close down' and relocate to new 'digs' but you guys as well? Kalmbach must be paying a fortune for all of these 'moves' to bigger/newer digs!

Anyways, just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a Happy New Year albeit 4 days late!

Take care!

Hey Kathy, [welcome] to the DD/CS!!  It's good to see you in here!  Sure hope you can come by more often (when you have the time).

SactoGuy, send me the recipe, and I'll make it for dinner/supper tonight.

On the lunch menu today:  beef vegetable soup w/cornbread, cream of broccoli soup, grilled cheese sandwiches and PB&J sandwiches (so you have a choice of sandwich), and fries.

Desserts:  chocolate pie, chocolate cake, coconut cream pie, and pecan pie.

Along with SactoGuy's supper request, does anyone else have any requests for supper tonight?  I'll do my best to comply with your requests.

I think I'll help myself to some decaf and oatmeal. And those raisins sound yummy, too. Things have finally quieted down a little around here again, so I thought I'd stop in and sit a spell. It's nice to see everyone stopping in here. See you again soon! Kathi

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Looks like we here in the Louisville area can expect some rain, possibly heavy, coming in sometime this afternoon.  At least it isn't snow.  We're supposed to reach a high of about 58 degrees today.  So far, I'm liking this January weather we're having.

Coffee is ready,  fresh juice is made, and we've got hot chocolate this morning, along with the hot tea.

On the warmer bar, you will find:  bacon, sausage,  western omelletes, hash browns, oatmeal, toast, and homemade biscuits  and sausage gravy.

Everyone have a great day!

Good evening everyone!  Well, Sarah and I went out for a "lady's only" afternoon out, doing what "most" women love to do:  SHOP.  We've been home about two hours now.

Oops [oops]I typed the wrong month this afternoon, when I asked about Januray birthdays.  Joe, I do have B's birthday listed, and also Ironken's on the 21st.  Are there any more January birthdays?  The month I don't have any birthdays listed is April.  Mutt pointed out to me that I DID have B's & Ironken's birthdays listed for January.  I beg a thousand apologies!! Please forgive me.Blush [:I]
