Greetings from Knoxville, TN again...

Went up to Gouverneur, NY for a load of bulk napkins (800+ pounds to a roll!), and now on my way to Alabama to deliver tomorrow morning.  Was a rough day, drove for 10 hours in the rain, saw two wrecks, both four-wheeler against truck, and saw the remnants of one fire that started in somebodys' load.

Dinner, then sleep......  /thud/

Good Wednesday morning, all.  Joe, good to see you back!  Hope everyone is doing o.k.

Coffee has just finished brewing, and fresh juices, tea and lemonade are made and getting cold in the fridge.  There's also some hot tea this morning.

Your breakfast choices are:  oatmeal & toast, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns or fried taters, bagels and bear claws.

Think I'll go out to the garden with my coffee, and enjoy nature a bit this morning.  Should be hearing and seeing a train come through in a few minutes.  If anyone wants to join me, come on!!

Good Afternoon to all the Diner Patrons,

Sorry it's been awhile since I've been in here. Work has been a bit hectic, and I haven't even been around the forum all that much.

Anyways, I need some input on picture submission for a photo contest. It's a non-train contest, so I apologize for that. There are definately some photogs around here that I would like to get opinions from.

At any rate, it's a zoo contest, and can feature anything animal related. I took both of these over Labor Day weekend at the Denver Zoo. I really like both shots, but am having a devil of a time figuring out which to submit (I can only submit one). If you all could let me know which you like more, I'd be most appreciative!

Here's the shots:

Thanks in advance!

Lemme check the funny papers...

Was at Cellu Tissue at Natural Dam between 1 and 1:30pm, I think I waved, there were three or four of us in a row picking up there.

Anyway, down in Cartersville, GA, this evening after dropping off and then picking up in Dalton, GA, had to get some trailer work done, so stopped for the night across the street. Am heading for Wisconsin tomorrow with a load of carpet for Menards, but will drop off in Richfield so I can be a part of The World's Largest Convoy to benefit Special Oylimpics on Saturday. Should be a good time, and it's for a good cause.

Chris, welcome back.  Miss our friends who don't come in very often.  I'm not much of a photographer, but I like the first picture.  Not much for closeup pictures of lions or tigers or bears, OH MY!!Wink [;)]  But anyway, they're both good pictures!!  Good luck, whichever one you submit!

Sorry about not being around much today.  Have had a very bad headache all day, and I can't take anything for it, or my arthritis pain, until after my surgery Monday.

I did manage for make some pizzas for tonight's supper.  Your choices are:

1.  Anchovie
2.  Cheese w/extra cheese
3.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
5.  veggie pizza
6.  supreme

Three extra large of each of the six kinds listed above, so help yourselves, and enjoy.

Joe and Lance, if you're working tonight, have containers in the fridge for you guys.

You'd have passed the Fort about noonish, and again between 2 and 3.    How do you like our mess on I-81?  You should see the street above it - one of the busiest in the area.

Drive Safe!

If you find yourself headed this way again, let me know.  Might be able to arrange a brief visit at the Nice-n-Easy next to the interstate.

What was for supper?  Let me get a plate....

Good Thursday morning to all.  Nice here this morning, with a current temp of 59;  gone down a couple of degrees since I woke up at 5:30, when it was 61.  Feels very nice this morning.

Coffee is ready (have both regular and decaf), and fresh juices, lemonade and tea are in the fridge.  On the warmer bar, you'll find muffins, bagels and bear claws, along with bacon, sausage and pancakes this morning.

Called the doctor yesterday, to see what I could take for my headache, and they said only Tylenol.  And for some strange reason, Tylenol usually affects me the way aspirin does:  I start itching all over.  So I have been sleeping a lot, trying to let it subside on it's own.

The office said they were getting ready to call me.  My surgery time has been changed.  I don't have to go in until 9 a.m. Monday, and the surgery is scheduled for 11 a.m.  (And I still can't have anything to eat or drink after midnight Suday night.

Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all later.

Chicken in a coop - mixin' up dough...Headphones [{(-_-)}] yodel, yodel....

Chris - I would probably go with the first one, but the 2nd one is very intriguing.  Something about the eyes being a window....

Or if you want a sure winner - give them the eagle picture!  Cool [8D]

CW - things are in turmoil here, so if I get trampled in the traffic tomorrow - I just want to wish you the best on your surgery on Monday.  Make sure you use a magic marker on the knee you want them to rearrange.  And don't get any of those marks on your elbows!

We will keep the diner going - maybe even on a diet.  But no one will starve - guaranteed.  And we will have coffee on the patio just as soon as you are able to ambulate around again.

Larry, that mess is nothing compared to the construction on the Tri-State in IL, that can get real dicey, especially at rush hour.

Thanks for breakfast, headed out now, running through Louisville to hopefully make Lake Station, IN, this evening, see everyone later....

Sorry Mooks:

No more chicken in a flying tin-can. Back to running around with beat-up ol' Lurch in far SE Colorado. You would have to come all the way across KS (Land of Ah's, as in Ah-choo!) to even find me and Vito, my gunner with a little violin case.

One of the more interesting presentations at AREMA this time was Uncle Pete's little dissertation on the Sacramento/American River bridge fire and the Yellow Peril's response to the same. Even stranger was the apparent cause of the fire. Then there was the chance to meet Wrinn, Yuhas, Kube, Keefe et. al. (no Bergie this time, darn!)...Downtown Chicago  will never quite be the same after CShaverr, the Pats and Mud did dinner on Monday...

Muddy one,

Humberto turned east, is now giving the mudbug folks a second harvest!

High Island is getting its beaches rearranged...some get bigger, some are shrinking.

And I think Mookie has been talking to NASA about remote control for that net thing...

Chris...go with the head on shot...it just appeals more.

There are lots of profile shots, but very few letting that expression on his face show.

How about two eggs over easy, bacon, and cubed hash browns with bell peppers, onions, and a few jalapenos...buried in cheese.

I know you call it potatoes O'Brian; we call it Tijuana Taters...

Can i have 5 or 6?

Well i am back. Right now i am in the middle of orientation week trying to adjust from west coast time to east coast time. Well i have to run off to meet my track coach but i will try to stop in every day and say hi. I might even post some pictures of the Dinky. (A train that comes right on campus. How cool is that!)

Sir Chicken - Wave to Toto!  And don't keep us in suspenders.  What started the fire?

Old Lurch?  Isn't new Lurch fixed yet?

Houston Ed - you ate that breakfast and I got heartburn!  And you have a tinge of green to your skin....

Good luck with school Emmar!  Now I will have to track you and Willy on your progress.

Mookie,

The green color is due to the high humidity, not breakfast.

If you like mold, moss and mushrooms, come on down...

Dusty Pheasant, what was the cause of the fire?

Just stopping by for coffee and out the door.  Leaving tomorrow for DC on Amtrak then a week on the Outer Banks.  Much to do in not enough time.

While we didn't plan it that way, we are glad that the hurricane du jour decided to go into the Gulf rather than the Eastern Shore.  I am diverting the car pontoons to Ed.

MC and the gang departs Chicago.  Will the town ever be the same?  Randy heading up the highway.  How about a little pool.  Guess the exact date when he has run in all 48 connected states.

Got to run myself.  Best to all and especially Paula.  Travel accomidations have I-net access so we will check in on the progress.  Something to do since where we will be has even less trains than Delavan.

TO ALL MY FORUM FRIENDS:    Thank you so much for your well wishes!!  You all mean a lot to me, and I don't really consider you friends:  I consider you FAMILY.  I know everything is going to be all right, and I also know I'm leaving the Diner in very capable, good hands.  We have plenty of good cooks around here:  Dan, Joe, Larry, Mutt, Ed, and probably a few others, who aren't letting their talents be known to us!!  And probably two or three that I've forgotten, too.

For your supper tonight, I am working on:  beef w/mushrooms, corn, beans, and we'll  also have THURSDAY MEXICAN FIESTA on the warmer bar in about three hours (in case the ones who can't come back after they leave work for home, would like to take carryout).  That way, you won't have to cook at home tonight!!

Emma, so glad to see you back, and know you will do very well in your college work!!
