Nightrain, glad to hear you all only got the wind and rain!

Iowa Brian, hope your son & daughter-in-law are all right.

I've got tonight's FRIDAY FISH FRY ready.  The fish, hushpuppies, and fries are on the warmer bar, and the cole slaw and desserts are in the cooler.  Hope everyone enjoys their supper.  Maybe later on this evening, we can pop some popcorn in the fireplace popper, and have a nice evening here in the DD/CS, listen to CDs and tapes of train songs, or even turn on the train layouts, and listen to the trains running, in between the real trains running up and down the tracks.

We survived all the tornados, rain, and all that muck that was passing through here. It was ...interesting. The cold is gone, but will be returning by this weekend, Bummer.

Good afternoon, and Chris, good to know you've thawed out, also!  Be sure to bundle up real, real good, so you don't become a human popsicle!!Big Smile [:D]

Okay, I know I'm running about a half hour late, but lunch is finally on the warmer bar:  the fried fish:  cat, cod, perch, halibut, along with fries, hushpuppies, and corn on the cob are on the warmer bar.  In the cooler, you will find:  cole slaw, apple, cherry, peach and pecan pie, along with chocolate/white/yellow cake (made a big sheet cake, and divided it into three sections).  There are also bowls of freshly made garden salads in the fridge, on a tray).

To those I might not see later on, and will be leaving for their work-free weekends, have a great, dry, warm and safe weekend, and see you Monday.  To everyone else, see you later on this afternoon.

OK, that's better.

Well, despite the frigid cold, I'm thinking that you all will be able to find me trackside somewhere along the Moffat Line this weekend. Just found out that UP1989 will be on the point of the Ski Train. How cool is that?!?!?! If all goes well, I should have some nice shots for you all on Monday. Wish me luck!

Meanwhile, I've got to go take off a plan, and then head out to run a couple errands. Hope you all have a great weekend! TTFN!

I slept in this morning. Currently we have a temp of 1 below 0 here. The wind is out of the west at 12 mph, leaving us with a wind chill of about 20 degrees below 0. It's going to get a lot colder than this here over the weekend. I would be out submitting applications for work at a couple of places, but yesterday I decided that in view of what today's weather conditions would be like, I would simply stay home and not try going anywhere. My feet are subject to freezing all to easily.

We could have roast ground hog for lunch this afternoon...........I don't know about the rest of you out there, but I've about had enough of winter already!!

Jay - in honor of your birthday - you can send an honorarium to my favorite old people's home.  Have it there by next week - we are checking in the 1st of March!  Many more of these cold, creaky mornings and we will go by Valentine's Day!

I keep saying that getting old ain't for sissies, as many of us on here can attest!

Oh - and I filed my own taxes, but have a comment - Fed is easy - State makes it so complicated.  Why?

Yesterday was the first of many with a with a full schedule of clients.  Refunds were good, no complaints.  Only 5 or 6 more weeks of 6-10.  We always take Sundays off including next which is my birthday.  No gifts please, but you can offer an honorarium to your favorite old folks home.

No temperature here today at the moment.  Highs barely in the teens.  I heard somethings about subzero lows in the coming couple of days.  No doubt my next heating gas bill will approach the size of the national debt.  Have a good one.

Good Friday morning to all!  Yes, I finally woke up, after going to sleep somewhere around 1 a.m.

Nightrain, glad to see that you're warming up!

Joe, thank you for making breakfast this morning.  Not sure I could have handled it this morning:  my hands are so numb and aching this morning, from good ole arthritis, it's all I can do to type, much less try to prepare and fix food.

Iowa Brian, hope you feel better!

But I'll be back in a couple of hours, to start our FRIDAY FISH FRY.

Hey Nightrain, hope you're dodging all that nasty weather down there...

Brrrr, it finally took this long for me to finally thaw out. Nah Mook, I don't think I miss the snow that much to become a Northrener. Too cold for me.

For now i think I'll just be happy with a tall glass of hot chocolate. I may be here all night, ...oh well, I have the trains to keep me entertained.

Well, if anyone comes in overnight, all the leftovers are in the fridge.  Just grab a plate, fill it up with whatever leftovers you want, and heat it up in the microwave.  When you're through, please put your dirty dishes into the dishwasher for me, and I'll start it in the morning.

Lance, you ask what's for supper?  Well, I'll tell ya:  FOOD!!  Just kidding.  For supper tonight, you have your choice of:  1.  spaghetti & meatballs w/garlic Texas toast or garlic bread; 2.  There's still some beef & turkey sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy; 3.  leftover lasagna w/garlic Texas toast or garlic bread & tossed salad.

Meat selections and garlic toast/bread are on the warmer bar, and the salad is in the cooler, already in bowls, so just help yourself.

Everyone have a good evening, stay dry, warm and safe.

.....if you folks have ESP- I've been hoping to get down by the UP's Cedar River Bridge this weekend ....

Yes, I have ESP. I predict you will be very cold.

Nah.  There's a spot just downstream from the bridge where I can park the van right next to the river, with an unobstructed view out my driver's side window.  Just sit in the van, crack the window slightly so I can hear approaching train horns (grade crossings on either side of the bridge), and turn the radio on low!  I've got a few representative shots posted on my rrpicturearchives site in the 2006 Cedar Rapids Area Shots album, like this one:

Let me out!!!! It's COLD in here!

Is that what's been going on with my winter? I accidentally roamed into the freezer and I've been stuck in there for the past two months? I would guess that there are a lot of other Coloradoans who have shared my plight! (This must be a big freezer!)
