Got you beat in the snow department already, Willy. Drove home from my Friday night poker game with about six inches of snow on the ground, and still snowing hard. Never got above 30mph, was mainly 20-25mph in third gear, in 4wd. Stopped twice to bust the ice off my wiper blades as well.
Weather radio now predicts six to nine inches tonight, and about eight to twelve inches for the main event on Saturday night thru Sunday. Sleet and ice has been cut out of the forecast, but still supposed to be very windy.
Keep it between the ditches, Jay, I'd loan you my truck, but I need it tomorrow to run errands before the snow hits. See everyone later.

Thanks for the great dinner. It was nice after a long day at school that started with a calculus pop quiz (what a way to start the day, eh).
Hope you feel better CW. Don't worry about us here at the diner we can take care of ourselves while you get some rest. Take care.
larry glad you made it home safely. here are some cookies and milk for us late night snackers.
willy please email me when you get the chance.
Well, 10 hours on the road, but I'm home. Got a few pics to share - will be working on those.
Time for bed.

Probably required a new EOT for the front train, and a new engineer for the rear one?

I had a fairly good day in Fremont today. I saw a total of 17 trains, 5 of which were BNSF. The other 12 were UP. I saw a total of 4 Southern Pacific units on coal trains, but all were patched.
Two UP lines meet at Fremont; the Omaha and Blair Subs. There are three holding tracks at Fremont which the dispatcher usually stocks with trains off the Blair Sub. All three tracks will get loaded with trains, and then they all go in a pretty short period of time. Today, one train had been released and was going by and another was sneaking up on another one of the holding tracks. That one stopped and pretty soon there was a big BOOM. Shortly thereafter, the crew of another train got on the radio and said he had rear-ended the train that had just stopped. Apparently there was no real damage as things got going again pretty fast.
The last train I saw was a BNSF train and both of its locomotives were Santa Fe warbonnets. They were both patched, but it was still very nice to see those Santa Fe units.
Anyway, the snow is still coming Saturday evening through Sunday morning. It still looks like 5 to 8 inches, so I'm pretty excited.
Everyone have a good weekend and stay safe in whatever weather you may experience.
Willy
mookie-taco bell is imitation mexican food. like the real stuff better.saw lots of great stuff today.and with the winter weather coming up csxs 2667"seaboard unit" might run to go back south.thanks for the fish.
randy glad you are feeling better.
The next round of our FRIDAY FISH FRY is now unde way. Everything is out on the warmer bar.
But tonight, I think I'm just going to have some soup. My sinuses are draining so much, that I can hardly see straight. And definitely don't feel too well, right now.
Everyone enjoy your dinner/supper/lunch (depending on your time zone), and I'll try to get back in after awhile.

I'm glad for the snow! It's brown around here and that's no fun! I hope that we get what's promised and that it stays...
(Who can tell that I've been up for 12 hours after only getting an hour of sleep? LOL!)

Afternoon all........
Geez, I get sick for a few days, and the place goes south in a hurry. Oh well, still battling the remnants here, at least I can breathe again, and I'm not running a fever anymore.
Looks like Wisconsin will go south in a hurry this weekend, reports vary, but the consensus is snow.... and lots of it. Anywhere from 10-20 inches possible starting tonight, and continuing through about Monday. Throw in some sleet and ice on Saturday morning, and we have the makings of a big mess. Oh yeah, almost forgot about the 30-40 mph winds possible all weekend....
Let's see, it's Friday, it's Wisconsin....... I'll take the fish fry, please. Off to a corner booth with another box of Kleenex....
Good morning, everyone. I know that some of your will have a hard time believing this, but it is an absolutely beautiful day.
I'll be back later for some of that fish.
I personally think the weather machine still serves a purpose and doens't need to be shoved away in a dark place. Then again that's probably just me.
I am definately here for the fish fry, that sounds really good. Hope theres endless pepsi as well. (I wish I could really drink that now, I can't drink soda cause it gives me leg cramps nowdays, thanks a lot Sadie!)
I think I will just have a bowl of soup for now though
Weather here is warm, they do say it will get cold again, yay...LOL. Just what we need, more cold....Can't wait till April
Methinks when the Weather Machine was shoved in the closet, the precipitation (snow) dial was set on weekend. We have weather warnings on both sides of us this weekend (I-70 in western Kansas should be avoided at all costs). As usual, the weather liars are waffling on what will happen in Denver and along the Front Range, depending on the speed of the storm. Anything from an inch of slush to 8-12 inches of wet snow. (I was finally going to be able to take down the X-mas lights on Sunday)...Looks like more snow (next wave?) on Monday...Glad I washed the truck.
....Um Mooks, the dogs with the little casks under their chins .....the kegs contain their favorite beverage for watching the humans shovel snow with.
Well, we're supposed to have thunderstorms all weekend. Looks like today's the only day we'll see sunshine until sometime next week.
Joe, glad to see you're back in today.
Mookie, got an email from Ray. He said he'll be back Sunday definitely, if not before then.
I have our FRIDAY FISH FRY just about ready to be served. On the menu today will be: cod, hallibut, perch. We also have shrimp, scallops, clams and breaded oysters, along with fries, cole slaw and corn on the cob.
DESSERTS TODAY: apple pie, cherry pie, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, and pecan pie.
blhanel wrote:You think it's going to get slick around your place this weekend, be glad you don't live up here. Our forecast keeps getting worse by the day- now they're talking a day's worth of freezing rain and sleet starting tonight, followed by possible heavy snow on Sunday.
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
Not looking too good here either, Brian. It looks like we will avoid much of the freezing rain, but our preliminary snowfall amount estimates are 6 to 12 inches of wind driven snow. With winds possibly gusting to 45 mph, it is possible that we will be placed under a blizzard warning for Saturday night. Such fun!
I have today off from school, so I'm going to Fremont to do some train watching. If I see anything interesting, I'll report it this evening.
Everyone have a good day.
That wheel told me to eat at Pizza Hut this afternoon, too bad I don't have any cash LOL

Joe - ate at Taco Bell last night for real - yep - you best order the truck!

Thanx!
Good Friday morning, everyone. It's a nice, cool 31 here this morning. Coffee is on, have hot water ready for cocoa and tea, and fresh juice is ready.
On the breakfast bar, you will find: all kinds of doughnuts and muffins, fresh from the oven.
Miniwyo, I like that food wheel! Came up with our zip code, but I can't remember what it told me to have for lunch.
Hope everyone has a great day!!
P.S. Heard from Ray, he said to tell everyone "HI" and he may be back in a few days.
