Good Sunday morning, everyone!  Duff, that's a very good picture of Sadie!!  She's a doll baby!

Joe, thanks for making coffee and fresh juice.  I'm going to enjoy a about four regular sized pancakes, and a couple or three sausage.

Going to be heading into the kitchen to start working on Sunday Dinner:  roast, taters, carrots, corn on the cob, cole slaw, lima beans and your choice of dinner rolls or homemade buttermilk biscuits.  Sunday Dinner will be on the warmer bar at 1 p.m. EDT.

Joe, thanks for providing breakfast for the rest of us this morning. Right now, pancakes, eggs and sausage sounds pretty good to me, and it kind of makes my mouth water.

I thought I would go to church for the 8:00 service this morning, but I have been dealing with a case of gout for the last 24 hours and more, and I don't think I am going to be very comfortable wearing a pair of shoes. For those of you who don't know what gout is, I will tell you this much, there is NOTHING MORE PAINFUL than an attack of gout. I inherited this condition from my mother's side of the family, my grandfather had it, and my mother's brother has it. It does help to pop  a couple tablets of Ibuprophen every four to six hours, and at least I was able to sleep fairly comfortably through the night last night.

Ray, sorry to hear that the gout is acting up.  Here's a plate of roast, taters, etc. for you.

For everyone else, Sunday Dinner is on the warmer bar.  Fill up your plates, and head on out to the patio.

Some sad news from my area today. Yesterday evening in Red Oak, Iowa (just southeast of Omaha) a 13 yo boy was hit and killed by a BNSF train. He and his friend were apparently playing on the tracks and didn't hear the train coming until it was too late for both to get off. His friend made it off, but he didn't. While I do feel very bad for his family and friends, he should've known better than to be messing around on the tracks. Don't play with fire. If you do, you will get burned.

Well - sounds like everyone had a good weekend.  Mine was busy, with the banquet and everything else.  Lots of preps on Friday, waterball Friday night, more preps and an open house on Saturday, Banquet (and a few cool ones) Saturday night.  Today I had a list of stuff to do, but the recliner keeps calling me back.  At least I got the hayfield - I mean lawn - mowed, and a start on a hot printing job.

Back to the drag again tomorrow.  I was thinking I had a weekend off, but the season start on the Adirondack next weekend (did I already say that?).

Still stuffed from the turkey dinner at the banquet.  Maybe just a nibble off the warmer bar....

Those are some nice pics!  I had the scanner on today all day.  Nary a peep from the CN!  No trains either...some days go like that I guess.  Tomorrow starts a new week.

ROAD TRIP!! (Or-How I spent last week.)

Got on the Empire Builder in Milwaukee last Monday and arrived in Portland, OR Wednesday morning.  Got some rest, look around town a bit, had dinner.  Thursday went to Tacoma,WA and spent several hours photographing a couple of steam engines sitting on display at the UP's Fife, WA yard.  Later went to scout good shooting locations for Friday.

On Friday, The Union Pacific ran a directors special with double heading 4-8-4's UP 844 and SP 4449 at the point.  The train operated from Tacoma, WA to Everett, WA and return.  Many miles of this route run on or very close to Puget Sound, however there are not many locations that provide a good view from both sides of the track.  I took my photos of the train at Edmonds, WA near the Amtrak Cascades station and the dock for the car ferry accross the sound to Kingston.

You can find three of my better photos on the steam forum at   http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1122356

Family obligations precluded making the same trip for the public on Saturday. After getting the photos on Friday it was a dash back to Portland, dinner with friends, and the 11:19pm red eye to O'Hare.  Were it not for a Saturday wedding and reception-the son of my wife's very best friend-I would have ridden the steam train and Amtrak for my return home.

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Looks like another beautiful day ahead for us!  Will be getting warmer, too: they're predicting a high of 84 - 86 for us today.

Jay, glad to hear you had a good time on your trip.  Really, really like your pics!!

Coffee is brewing, and fresh orange juice and orange-tangerine juice are ready, and chilling in the fridge.  Have some tea brewing/steeping, and will be making iced tea in a few minutes.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  fresh cantaloupe and other melons, including watermelon, along with turkey bacon, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, fried taters and hash browns, scrambled eggs, and country-fried ham w/redeye gravy, and grits.

Mookie, I used my "Gopher Grabber" and got your coffee mug down for you.  Would you like coffee or hot tea in it this morning?

On the lunch menu today:  open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, green beans, slaw, and creamed corn.  Or, you can have:  BLTs w/fries and slaw.

On the Dessert menu today:  chocolate cake, frosted brownies w/nuts, and made from scratch banana pudding w/vanilla wafers, and a merigne topping.

Does anyone have any requests for supper tonight?  If not, I'm thinking about grilling pork chops, using Ia Brian's recipe.

I am going to bring along my baked beans for supper. I picked up Mountain Dew (4 half racks for $9.50, no limit with coupon) for any Mudchickens that hop by.

Now Mookie, you KNOW you all can have whatever you want on your sandwiches/club sandwiches!!  And here's a big spoon for you (cooking size spoon)!!

And Bob, the drinks will be a definite plus!!

I'll be firing up the grill between 2 and 2:30, so it's ready to add the pork chops at 3 EDT, just in case anyone would like to take some home with them to share with family tonight.

Joe and Mookie, your plates are ready!  Mookie, I added extra pork chops for Driver!  And I also fixed a container for Lance, for work tonight.

For everyone else, the pork chops and sides are on the warmer bar, ready for you all to fix your plates.  Such a lovely afternoon, and looks to be a very good evening, I've got everything set up on the patio.  I hope everyone enjoys their supper!!
