Well, Brian, you're in luck, since all the fish is fry is breaded. Speaking of which, the next round of our FRIDAY FISH FRY is now under way. So grab yourself a plate or two, and head on out to the patio. Going to be a beatiful night, before the rain comes in, probably around 9 p.m. around our area.
Glad to know that the Mookster will be back with us on Monday morning!!
Has anybody seen Ray in the past few days: other than on the "Today in Railroad History" thread?!?! I know I haven't seen him here in the DD/CS.

I've got everything ready and on the warmer bar for our FRIDAY FISH FRY:
The menu of fish today is: cod, flounder, halibut, perch and shrimp. There's also plenty of fries and hushpuppies (not the shoes, either). In the cooler, you will find: cole slaw garden tossed salads, and the following desserts: pecan pie, peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler. There is also plenty of chocolate cake, and ice cream is in the freezer.
Everyone have a great afternoon!!
Good Friday morning, to all! Joe, thanks for making the coffee and juice, and the rolls. That really hits the spot this morning. Glad you've been enjoying your vacation this week. Bet you're not looking forward to going back to work next week.

No problem Brian, Actually the only piece of clothing I am wearing is shorts (as usuall). Athough for the first time in recent memory I actually contemplated putting on a sweater last night (actually about 4am when I got done workng a late night shift). As far as the catnip goes....I don't think I am on Mookie's radar like you are, so as long as you are around to draw fire I should be alright. Besides, if we do have to bolt, I think I can outrun you with you wearing those tin shoes and all.
60 minute tanks should be the standard at every department that has to fight fire in buildings over two stories.
This guys training, and his skill at applying it, saved his life, and let him use his radio to lead his crew to him...lots of nerve and pure guts on his part, and his crew was not giving up either.
We lost a Captain two years ago, because he got "lost" in a high rise looking for one of his men, and he had only a 30 minute tank.
Cause of this one yet to be determined, but the 25 mph winds didn't help matters any.

I posted this shot on one of my photographic forums:and got the following post:"Ordinary. Dull B/W conversion. Should've been done in color."That bugged me a little bit for several reasons:Maybe it is ordinary. It was taken at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, which is one of the few trails that has virtually no vertical relief, so it sees a lot of visitors. Still, I tried to change it up a little bit by wading into the creek to add the tree limbs as a foreground to add interest to the shot. This was taken before the sun was even up (it's an 8 second exposure). So that means I was up way before dawn with a wind chill around 15ºF or so. I had to carry my equipment in. While this isn't a huge deal, since it was my digital stuff, it would have irked me mroe had I taken my new Large Format gear out with me.I spent a lot of time on the B&W conversion on this one. Generally speaking, I really dislike the look of B&W images converted from digital shots. Every once in awhile I do like one. This is one of those examples. I guess the image does lack a little "punch," which is probably the reason that he called it "dull." Still, I think it does well as a B&W shot. There's a good full range of tones (all the way from the blacks of the shadows in the water to the white of the snow on the peaks with a lot of variety in the grey tones between them). When I took the time to process and post the color version, he didn't bother to comment on it.Still, while his comment did bug me, at least it did contain some information why he didn't like it. Had I received "yawn.." as a comment, I'm pretty sure I would have been much more bothered. While it is a hobby (and one that I enjoy tremendously), it is a little frustrating to know that one's hard work garners nothing more than a "yawn."I guess one has to be somewhat thick-skinned in order to post stuff for critique. Quite honestly, I doubt I could do the Trackside competition every other week. It annoys me to no end that virtually half of the responses are "I voted for Mike/Erik because I like Railroad X." I don't think this is supposed to be a popularity competition, but rather a competition on the aesthetics of the photos presented. At least Mookie voiced her displeasure with the aesthetics of the shots, rather than the railroads involved.I guess it's all just a matter of perspective. Just my again. Back into the closet.

Hey Chris, don't sweat it, for every armchair critic like that i bet there are a dozen others like me that that think your work is outstanding and look forward to seeing your work and appriciate the effort (If you are like me just risking takeing the $$$ gear on a wilderness adventure deserves credit) Keep it up.

I especially liked the first two UP shots. So are you starting to figure out that bugger? I love my Pentax, and especially the lenses I've collected for it so far. Still, I miss the "look" that the D60 gave me. Canon has made some nice improvements in that line of bodies over the past few years, but if I were a Canon owner, the only way I'd upgrade the body is if the price of a full frame body dropped below $2K.Anyways, looking forward to see what else you post with that thing.

Hey Chris, I'm not haveing any poblems learning the camera (although I think the manual lacks some). I certainly have no regrets, I really like the Camera. The video output is really a cool feature too. What I had problems with was loading the canon software on my computers. I finaly got it working on my tower but I can't get it to load on my laptop. Anyway I have lots of non-train pix but I haven't done any railfanning lately except meeting Carl, Pat, and my dad in Cajon last weekend. But as far as the cam goes it's all good!!!
BTW- I have known a lot of junkies in my day, but you are the first lens junkie I've met
//takes socks and shoes off
Maybe this will help! That dinner was awesome CW, thanks again for your tireless diligence!
For your supper tonight, you will find on the warmer bar: lasagna, garlic bread and Texas garlic toast, and mixed veggies. For dessert tonight, I've made some homemade ice cream: vanilla and chocolate, to go with the desserts I made for the lunch menu today.
Ia Brian, since you want to take off your shoes and socks, I think I'll serve supper out on the patio
As far as the weather goes, we're currently at 71 degrees, with plenty of sunshine! Absolutely gorgeous weather today!
Whatever it takes...I miss the kitty. Moookieeeee....come hoooomeee....
//puts out plate of chocolate cake and milk//
Here kitty, kitty, kitty!

Look at the bright side. More great challenges for those who make a living promoting Denver as the place to live and visit.

Hot and muggy here in FL, so it's now time to crank up the air conditioner. Someone mentioned that they spent time here in FL, glad they liked the weather. I guess we aim to please Down by the beach is great, Inland it's just soupy...think...muggy....But, I would rather have this than shoveling snow every day.
Since it's so hot, I will have a plate of fries, a French dip, and a large glass of sweet tea, I think I'll eat outside though. watch the trains go by.
I miss the trains, I have to travel about thirty miles due west to avtually see them, and they are far and few between. Since CSX is re-tying the rails, no one can stop at the gates though, no trains....booo!
*leaves a bowl of chocolate cake out for Mookie*, Cats...they come in when they want...she'll be back, she's probably waiting for the contraversy to die. reminds me of my cats in a way *snicker*
EDIT I hate being pregnant, it makes it hard to type!
Afternoon all.......
After a beautiful day on Monday, it feels like somebody forgot to pay the heat bill. Has not gotten above 50 since Tuesday afternoon, with occasional rain showers. Not supposed to get much warmer, but will get much wetter this weekend with rain and possible severe storms.
I see Mookie hasn't been around a few days, could use a cat right now to de-stress after a rough week at work. We're actually a little ahead of where we need to be, had to cut back a bit last night and concentrated on filling our assembly line up. Still has been a rough week.
Will grab some lunch and head out onto the deck, got a lap for you, Mookie, if you need it......
See everyone later.

Stopping in long enough for lunch - pretty busy at work, so no time to visit. That and meetings three evenings in a row - I just get on-line long enough to clean the spam out of my email boxes so they don't overflow....
I got something from firefighterclosecalls.com about the fire in Houston, but didn't really look at it that closely. That I got something at all from them indicates that firefighters were probably hurt.
On the warmer bar for today's lunch: beef vegetable soup, tomato soup, and cream of broccoli soup with the following: hamburgers w/sauteed onions, grilled cheese sandwiches.
Desserts today: apple pie, peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler, along with chocolate cake and white cake w/white icing.
Mudchicken, have plenty of hot cider for you, and fixed you some hot beef vegetable soup, and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches. Maybe that'll help warm you up.
