Let me go on the record as saying I am for paying fair wages. I am for paying overtime. I am for treating the employees like people. But as for sneaking into this country I am not for. I certainly am not for people sneaking into this country to harm our people or steal jobs from them. And I do not condone lawsuits such as this one. Just Thursday I made a post against crossing accident lawsuits. So why would I even think about supporting this lawsuit. Wal-Mart in not one of my favorite retailers. As a matter of fact I try to avoid going there when I can go elsewhere and get in and out much quicker. My Wal-Mart NEVER has enough checkers on hand to handle the customers. I don't like narrow ailes jamed with merchandise and people. The store hours are getting less and less all the time. They now close at 11 pm. They used to be open all night and THAT was when I did my shopping. I have other issues against them too. But I still do not support this lawsuit.

(Jim getting out the soapbox and dusting it off, setting it down, and climbing up on it)

Folks, your not gonna believe this one. Illegal immigrant workers are now going to sue Wal-Mart for violating their American Civil Rights. Give me a BREAK ! I say take the chinesse rail wagons and load these "people" in them and send them back where they came from. Yes, this one has pulled my chain. And the worst part is they probally will win the way the courts are today. Millions of our dollars are already being sent out of this country into other countries and doing nothing to help the American economy one bit. And now they want to sue. Yes the land of the free is now the land of the come over here and get it because it is free to you. Never mind the fact that me, you, all of our kids and their kids and their kids are gonna half to pay for it. Uncle Sam has deep pockets when it comes to giving out our money for "people" across the ocean. But what about here at home. Sorry, YOUR MONEY is not available to help you. It is going elsewhere. And now they are putting our their greedy little immigrant hands sueing Wal-Mart. Where do they get off. (I know where I would like to see them get off ! ! !) You know I don't mind helping someone who needs help. But when do you cut the cord? It is time to stop the handouts for overseas and handout some here. It is time to put the army on the border to stop the illegal immigration and in so doing stop a possible entryway for the terriorists too. Enough is enought and I had my enoughs. No Yellowducky, you didn't kill it. It is still here but breathing kinda hard and slow. It may still live. I hope it does. That is why I made the post just the other day to try to save it. We had alot of fun here in this thread. We still can. The Humor thread has kinda taken away from this one and some other ones too. But maybe it will survive. Time will tell. [B)]

On the topic of dumb comunication between coworkers--- Two workers trying to assemble a piece of machinery: The first one said "hit it right there". The second one did. The first one came back to work after he got the cast off his finger. True story about a couple of many-talented maintenance men. TRAINing is fun, but not always fun for everyone. Work and play safe. A little rain wouldn't hurt either. Think you might arrange that too?

Now we have 2 votes for Ed

Jim - re cold - just remember you can always put on more clothes. And like Limitedclear found out, you can't always take them off.

Got rain - just made it more humid. Now we are steaming while we are cooking.

3 votes for Ed - he will probably pay one of his neighbors to vote for him......a true politician!

Jen

We had way to much fun with this thread to let it die so I am bringing it back to life. This thread is just like life, we have fun, food, and politicians, what more could you want other than a train or two and it had some of them too. So put on your thinking caps and post away.

Now on a lighter note, I received this in my email this morning. I don't know how well it will copy and paste but here goes.

Ten Reasons To Go To Work Naked!

10. No one ever steals your chair.

9. Gives "bad hair day" a whole new meaning.

8. Diverts attention from the fact that you also came to work drunk.

7. People stop stealing your pens after they've seen where you keep them.

6. You want to see if it's like the dream.

5. To stop those creepy programmer guys from looking down your blouse.

4. "I'd love to chip in... but I left my wallet in my pants."

3. Inventive way to finally meet that 'special' person in Human Resources.

2. Can take advantage of your computer monitor radiation to work on your tan.

And...drum roll...the Number One reason to go to work naked :

Your boss will never say, "I wanna see your *** in here by 8:00!"
ever again.

Hope not, but the aircraft industy is either feast or famine and because of the super bad economy and 9-11 added to the bad economy things in the aircraft field are a little (actually a LOT) screwed up. I hope that tonight when I get back on the computer I can say I still have a job but don't know until I go to work. We have had a layoff about 1 year ago, now it looks like another one is very close at hand. Not a good thing at all.

ok here is what happened tonight at work.

Unfortunately we DID have a layoff or as the company put it a workforce reduction. HUH, fancy words for people loosing their jobs. [V] Do I still have a job? PRAISE GOD YES I DO, THANK YOU JESUS. But I am very sadden by anyone loosing their job. Most of the people who lost their jobs today were from what we call the back shops. These are people who do not work on the aircraft but make small parts that do go on the aircraft, or sew on the seats, or plate the cupholders, or work in the wood shop. This may sound mean but it is not meant to. These shops, for the most part, are separated from the hangars. They have their own buildings away from the hangars, so we don't see or talk to these people as much as we do people from the other hangars. If you work on the plane then you know most of the people who work on the plane even though they may be from another hangar. We get sent from our primary hangar to work in other hangars as needed. Now we are an aircraft completion center. The plane is made in France, or should I say assembled in France from parts made in several other countries. One section of the plane is made in Italy. The "green" plane is flown over here. It is "just" barely legal to fly. It has only the very basic equipment to make it legal to fly. There is nothing, like you would expect to see in a plane, in the plane. It even comes over with a portapotty, that is taken out and cleaned, then returned to France for the next plane. We add everything here according to the individual customers requests. These planes are meant for big shot CEOs and very rich people. These are not your everyday jets like you would take if you flew from point A to point B. These planes are very unique and make to order. You will not see any one plane that looks exactly alike any other plane on the inside. It takes alot of people to do what we do, but now there are less of us to do it. We are also going to start 32 hour work weeks. They say this will last until January. Yes, I still do have a job, but it is a sad day for many people here. My heart goes out to all who now have no job. [|)]
