edblysardWould you buy a used locomotive from this person?
And probably pay too much in the process.....

Snow has returned after yesterday's "snirt" storm.

mudchickenSnow has returned after yesterday's "snirt" storm.
Reminds me of an issue going on right now here - the annual "Snirt Run." Seems they've discovered that the language in the snowmobile clubs' insurance policy (which covers all snowmobilers running on designated trails) doesn't cover the ATVs that run in the "Snirt Run." They're in a bit of a quandry on the event unless they can find someone who will write them the policy they need.
Lost one of my cousins this morning. He was about the closest in age to me and we ran together when we were here on vacation when I was a kid. He'd been in failing health - it was just a matter of time.
On the plus side - it's not snowing here. The sun is out! Down south of here, in the lake effect belt, however....
sunshine here for now.Cold air on the way. Ns has more cars uptown. Working on chores then need to go pick up Matt.
stay safe

Larry, I can't imagine how it feels to lose a close cousin. I was shattered when my closest cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she's in remission now. Pat and I extend our condolences. And Ed...those gorgeous blue eyes! I'd have to check out why she'd have a locomotive to sell, but yes...yes, I just might!

Back to the deep-freeze for us the next few nights.

Norm48327 Back to the deep-freeze for us the next few nights.
Same here - although today's sub-zero wind chills gave us a bit of a lead-in.
The usual lake effect belt is getting hit pretty hard right now. Hopefully it'll back off by Friday. I've got a morning appointment in Utica, and the memorial for my cousin is in the afternoon. Travel to both will involve travel in the usual suspect regions...
Norm, we're in the rut again. These cold temperatures will moderate in a day or two, to be followed by--guess what: more disgustingly shovelable snow. Here in Chicago, latest forecasts say we could get up to eight inches' worth from a string of three storms by Monday. And that prediction's down from twice that, which is what they were saying yesterday.Took a long walk (4-5 miles) today; didn't see nearly enough trains. The two scheduled scoots, a westbound stacker, and a pair of light engines eastbound. Of course the good one--an eastbound manifest--was staging at Finley Road and wouldn't come through for a while.

rvos1979Larry, I hope it quits by then too, running to Fulton for Friday delivery........
Latest forecast has it dying out by then. But you know those weather prognosticators...
One of my cousins is due in from AZ on Thursday - into the teeth of the storm...
More weather woes. We here in the south are tired of 20 degree temps and you Midwesterners --- wow !!!!!!!!. Saw on 2 different networks tonight that there is a real possibility of flooding in California due to possible 4" rain. Showed "K" rails being set out near a rail line. Anyone ,Anyone with information ?
afternoon
surprise snow this morning from lake michigan.gave Matt a 2hr delay.Lot's of people had their ditchfinders on too. Going to get cold tonight. Guessers say more snow on Sunday. No place to put it in frozen or liquid form. Ice jams all along the rivers here in Nw Ohio. Thankfully tomorrow is friday.
Gee Joe - we're still trying to keep some of that moisture here in Eastern CO.(back yard is nothing more than crunchy brown grass that the dogs bring into the house)
Hey MC,
Send us a few trains of empty gons. We'll gladly send you some of our snow.
We got several inches of lake effect this morning before the band swung south again to pummel them. I think Randy managed to get out of town before it got to Fulton.
The sun is out now, but the wind is blowing and it's still colder than all get out.
NWS is calling for 13 below tonight.
Class cancelled tonight - weather. Clear here, but windy, and really nasty to the south. Interstate 81 is closed (again) in northern Oswego County.
Sure hope it eases up tomorrow. I've got some drivin' to do.

Wish I could send you some moisture from Louisiana. And maybe someone could lend me some snowshoes to help me get around in my back yard. It's a mushy swamp. I sound like Squidward walking around in it.
