Louisville under the gun shortly - a couple of cells passing just to the north.  Defiance is at the upper end of the line.

TWC just upgraded their "TorCon" to 10/10.  Everyone in that area faces the very real possibility of a tornado within 50 miles.

Welcome to spring!

We're still under a tornado warning as I type, have had damage all around us and some deaths reported  around Madison, In. (Jefferson County, In.)(about 40 mile north east of us .)

Very high winds, heavy rain, Sarah said that out at the CSX yard (that's south of us), they had half dollar size hail earlier today.

(our house is about 2 miles from the Ohio River, and about 5 miles from CSX's Osbourn yard.)

Here, at the house, we seem to be fine, no noticeable damage, still have electric so we should be good to go. We've had our hatches battened down for awhile, strongly suggest those east of us do the same and hang on!

CW should be in shortly with more info.

Hooooo-eeeeeee!

Time to duck if you're in the eastern part of the country.

TWC has issued a "TorCon" of 9/10 for some areas of the southeast, and here in the north woods they're forecasting high winds, unrelated to the severe weather systems.

Already one confirmed twister in Alabama, possibly others indicated.

Pay attention to your media, weather radio, and the sky.

Mookie - I see you're already prepared.

Well, that snow storm they said was going to hit us overnight turned out to be nothing but a very light dusting, man I wish I could get paid as much as our Weather folks and be so wrong so often!  Oh well, currently 19F and a bit cloudy right now...

From the info {right now}, we hear...this could be our turn for the "big one".  So, we're watching very close.  We've already had 5 min. of extremely hard rain....and penny size hail.

Stay tuned.

Afternoon all.  Went to the store for a few things this morning.  Then, went for a walk.  Came home and lied down for awhile.

Joe, you're welcome for supper.  Now, I'll post what we're having tonight:

1.  Leftover beef tips w/broccoli in butter sauce, salad, and mixed veggies

2.  Beef stew w/cornbread

3.  Country fried steak w/mashed taters, broccoli w/butter sauce, apple sauce, corn, milk gravy and buttermilk biscuits

Since I have an early doctor's appointment in the morning, you all probably won't see me until sometime tomorrow afternoon.  So, everyone take care, and have a good evening.

.....Paula, we totally agree with the slow cooking / crock pot results.

And Justin, that's a very nice photo of Amtrak consist.  I hope that train was standing as you took the picture, as you seem to be very close to the path of it...

Enlarging it to full screen really makes a nice Railroad photo.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  47 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high in the 60s, with plenty of sunshine.

Quentin, the Crock Pots /Slow cookers were a great invention!!  Everything you put into them, comes out moist as can be, and the meats are so tender, you don't have to use a knife to cut them into bite size pieces, if you don't want to:  just use your fork.  Our slow cooker really gets a workout.  We use it all the time. It is especially good for the Pork Chop Abracadabra I fix all the time:  just brown your chops, put them in the pot/slow cooker, add a can of creamed soup (no extra water), add whatever vegetables you want, and let it cook.  And, you can substitute chicken for the pork chops, and have chicken abracadabra.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Was so shocked to hear of Davy Jones' passing.  He was my third favorite Monkee:  Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith, Davy Jones and Mickey Dolenz.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Driver is cooking porkchops tonite, but since it is a favorite of his, we have them quite often.  Think I will opt for #3....

Your mentioning the porkchops reminds me:  Jean uses her crock pot to do quite a few meals and recently pork loin about an inch thick was prepared.....Hummm, good & great.  That really holds the moisture and taste in them, and really makes for a wonderful meal.

Our weather was a lot like the Daytona 500 - interesting to watch.  Statewide we had snow, ice, rain, thunder, lightning, probably hail somewhere and a tornado.  Earthquake didn't make it.

North and west of us was snow and ice.  We had rain and thunderstorms and south & east of us they had a mess of green, yellow, red, purple.

Today it is sunny like nothing happened and 40 mph winds!  Wonder if the chicken got into weatherliar u and is playing with the weather making machine?  Looks like he inadvertently sent it to Tree, again.

Well, our rain finally ended.  We had hail, high winds and a little bit of lightning.  Correction:  Walt and I just came in from the front porch:  it just started raining again, although lightly.

Here is our menu for the rest of the day:

1.  Grilled chicken w/your choice of baked or mashed taters with butter, garden salad and dinner rolls or made from scratch biscuits

2.  Vegetable beef soup w/baked cornbread

3.  Beef tips w/broccoli w/butter, and any of the above listed veggies

All this rain is making me sleepy, so think I'm going to go take a nap.  Have also been reading this morning, and that is making me sleepy as well.  Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 28F heading for 54F and sunny skies.  Got a light dusting of snow mixed with hail (It's February right?) and they say we might get some more Thursday.  Looks like the February Snow Fall record for Denver set in 1912 will hold up but 2012 will be #2 on the list.

http://rradventures.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/img_5616.jpg

You seem to have gotten the precipitation that the Wasatch Front was promised yesterday--2-4 inches in the valleys, more on the benches, and even more in the mountains. How much did we get? 0. We are promised an extended storm that is to begin this evening and go on through Thursday. We shall see.

Soup supper before Lenten Service tonight, with the elders providing the meal; so, the crockpot is out and  doing its thing.

.....Yesterday, in conversations about Daytona Race...I stated that even last place....{43rd}, would pay roughly $80,000 dollars.

I was a bit light on my estimate:  Last place paid over  a qtr. million dollars...!!

First two places:  Roughly....$1,500,000 plus.....and $1,000,000 plus..!

Trash Day.

Now that the "big" computer is up and running with the new power supply and video card, I reloaded "Sim City Societies."  Which is rather addicting.  Got to the point that I could hardly spend the "city's" money fast enough, but it was a moot point as I should have been in bed an hour earlier anyhow...

Places to do, things to go...  Better get to it.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  64 degrees here in Louisville this morning; have had some rain overnight, and more due in within the next hour, or so; we are under a tornado watch until about 1 p.m.  From the map I saw on the news/weather report a little bit ago, we've got some good storms headed our way.  Also saw an interesting street name, somewhere in Missouri:  Walt Trail Rd.  Wherever that area is, they were getting quite a bit of wind, rain, etc.

Coffee is ready, along with our other morning beverages.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, eggs, English muffins, biscuits, gravy; or, you can have cold cereal or oatmeal, toast, whatever suits your fancy this morning.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and, as the old saying goes, "Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise", I'll see you all later on.

....Larry, I believe Danica will be respected {overall}, by most drivers.  She will bring renewed interest to Nascar Sprint cars, just as she enlivened the chatter / interest back to Indy cars in the several years she was there.  Nascar needs a boost.  This is a P R situation made to order to bring more interest to their sport.  Just in time.

She sure did have  the bad lady luck "piled on" to her this past weekend.  Almost none seemed to be her doing, or fault.

That high angle crash she slammed into the inside wall was serious, and almost over the top by any standard...!  Lucky for the updated, modern safety gear brought to Sprint Cars after Dale Earnhardt's fatal  crash back in 2001, {in my opinion}, saved her life....!  Estimates of probably more than 150 mph impact speed....!!

Been a busy day around home.  After Produce, came home, took a short nap (mostly to warm up, as I was cold, cold, cold), then cleaned up the kitchen, and got laundry done.

Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is on the warmer bar:

Tacos, burritos, Spanish rice, Chimichangas, Fajitas, et al, ready and waitin' for you all to partake.

Believe we managed to get up to almost 70 degrees (at least that is what was showing on our indoor/outdoor thermometer awhile ago.  Haven't heard the official high on the news yet.

Everyone enjoy your evening, take care, and see you all tomorrow.

Madam La Mook:  DUCK!  (A tornado watch was just issued in your neck of the woods).

Finally got my desktop computer squared away.  Turns out it was a fairly simple fix...

I fear Ms Patrick may be suffering at the hands of some good old boys who don't want a lady in their midst.  Not that anyone would admit as such.  I agree that she does have a shot at success.

Time to get ready for a meeting.
